Someone should've stopped you from deciding to accept the offer to study in San Fransokyo's Institute of the Arts. If they had, maybe you wouldn't be slaving away almost everyday in the workshops and lecture halls, trying to keep up with every bit of willpower you can muster.
Someone should've also stopped you from deciding to be cordial to the kid whose incredibly hot brother is enrolled in your rival school, San Fransokyo's Institute of Technology.
Someone should stop you from being attracted to his warm smile and the frequent employee discounts he automatically writes off on the bill whenever you order coffee at the Lucky Cat Cafe too often to be a coincidence. Or maybe stop you from visiting the Nerd Lab for a glimpse of him when you have the chance.
Thank God no one did.

Tommy shakes his head immediately, jabbing a thumb to his chest. “Yep, I don’t want anything to do with politics and shit. Kinda makes me want to trip on a landmine, land on my ass, roll over, just to drop into a conveniently open manhole, and then bash my skull into a random detonated landmine.”
“Oddly specific, any reason?”
“Duh, because Tubs’ has done it to me once before and I’m unskilled in dying any other way.”
Sam raises an eyebrow, electing to say nothing despite his many justified concerns.

The day Tommy finds his life smack in the middle of a convoluted game of hot potato played by heroes, villains, and vigilantes alike, is the day he'll apologize for all prior sins and attempt to prevent himself from getting killed by this madness.
That is... If it doesn't kill him first.

“Something has been stolen from us,” Thanatos said, his wings puffing up as he spoke. “Something that is very important to us. And we are fairly certain that the person who stole this thing of ours is in this very crowd.”
Dream tensed beside Tommy as the crowd broke out into murmurs. Eyes were darting towards the different heroes in the crowd, the benefactors no doubt assuming that the culprit had to be a hero.
“Like we said, we haven’t crashed your party to cause trouble. But we want this thing returned to us, and we won’t hesitate to take extreme measures to get what we want.”
or, Tommy was a lot of things: a newly debuted hero sidekick, an amnesiac, and a former kidnapping victim of the Syndicate.
Tommy didn't actually remember that last one though. That was just what Dream told him.
Only weeks after his hero debut, the Syndicate announces they are searching for something, and Tommy knows it has to be him. The scariest part? If they find him, Tommy will have no clue what to expect, because the Syndicate might know him, but he has no memories of them.
So he can't let them find him. No matter what.
Of course they end up finding him anyway.
