Of rivals, enemies and lovers

Summary:

Percy Jackson and Annabeth Malfoy had loathed each other since the day they met. At least that is what everyone seems to think.

Harry isn't too sure though.

[Short one fic about Annabeth being born a Malfoy. Still follows canon PJO]

Short fic I wrote last night as I have a small writer's block with 'Through the Years' :)
Haven't performed any spell checks yet :)

Work Text:

Harry just left Madam Melkin’s robes for All Occasions, where he had unknowingly met his biggest rival, Draco Malfoy, for the first time.

The encounter had left a bitter taste in his mouth. Luckily Hagrid had given him a good remedy to it: some ice cream. Hagrid and Harry walked together for a bit until they came to a stop in front of a shop. As Hagrid peered inside he mentioned to Harry that the line seemed to be long, so he suggested Harry should roam around Diagonally for a bit instead of spending his time standing in line.

Harry didn’t need to be told twice and he continued his stroll through the magical street. Occasionally taking a lick from his melting ice cream.

Suddenly Harry’s motion was halted as he bumped into someone. His immediate response was to take a step back and apologise, but the person had other plans. In response, they gave him a hard shove and Harry stumbled backwards.

“Watch where you’re going, you dimwit!” The voice of a girl sounded angrily. Harry looked up and took in the person he had bumped into. A blonde girl about his age if he had to guess. She was wearing a blue cloak that was now adorned with a big brown stain in the middle. Harry looked stupidly to his hand where he held an empty ice cream cone. She followed his gaze and after realizing what had happened she looked down at her robes.

Harry wanted to apologize but ones the girl's eyes turned back up and met his gaze Harry’s words died in his mouth. They were startling grey… and might have been the scariest he had ever seen. He felt as if her stare would pulverize him on the spot.

“I’m sor-” Harry began but he was stopped as someone pulled the girl's shoulder. Well ‘stopped’ or maybe even saved in this case.

It was a boy around the same age as them, maybe even a bit younger as he was smaller than the girl. He had black hair and was wearing a blue dress shirt. The girl made a quick motion to make the boy let go of her.

“Give it back!” the boy sounded angerly. And he trusted his hand out to the girl.

“Back? It was never yours to begin with” the girl sneered.

“You took it from me at the register! It was the last one” he countered.

Harry made the notion to move since the boy was clearly distracting her. But as soon as he made a motion her grey eyes shot in his direction.

“You stay here” she growled angrily. Harry didn’t dare to do otherwise.

She turned her eyes back to the boy. “I needed it” she said matter-of-factly “If you really wanted it that badly you should have paid closer attention to it.”

“Why you!” The boy growled dangerously. And just like that he made the movement to jump the girl. Surprisingly the girl actually widened her eyes, Harry guessed she didn’t expect the boy to actually attack her.

But before the boy left the ground two arms wrapped around him from behind. “Perseus!” a woman’s voice said angrily. And she pulled him back, stopping him from attacking the girl. He was still clawing in front of him but it had no effect as the girl was not within his reach anymore.

“Percy! We talked about this!” The woman catechized. Only now Harry noticed all of them had an American accent. “If you get expelled from Hogwarts the only option left is Durmstrang.” At this the boy physically deflated.

Harry presumed the woman was probably ‘Percy’s’ mother. “Now be a gentleman and apologize,” she said as she pushed Percy towards the direction of the girl.

Percy remained silent, adorning an angry scowl. His mother sighed in response “I’m going back to Molly, you better have made some friends by the time I see you again”. And the woman turned around and walked away.

Harry was afraid for a small second Percy was going to attack the girl again, his mom must have had a lot of trust in him, or she was just tired. Surprisingly Percy held out his hand towards the girl.

“I’m sorry -…” he started.

“Annabeth” she responded “Annabeth Malfoy”. Percy soured at the mention of her last name.

“I’m sorry Annabeth, Annabeth Malfoy” Percy spit out angrily.

“hm” she responded as she pointed her nose in the air. “Excuses accepted, Perseus” she drawled.

Harry could see the fire start in Percy’s eyes again. Before he could jump her again Harry stepped in front of him.

“I’m sorry too,” Harry said “For the ice cream I mean”

She squinted her eyes at him for a second. Like she had forgotten Harry was there as well.

“See you at Hogwarts” She said curtly. She spun around on her heel, her cloak making a dancing notion around her, and continued walking down the street.

Harry was silent for a second, watching as Annabeth left his sight. Then he turned around and faced Percy, who had seemingly been doing the same as Harry.

“I hate bullies” Percy gritted his teeth. But most of the fire had seemingly left his system.

“Same” Harry responded.

“If I could just- ” Percy started before Harry cut him off. “Do you want to get some ice cream?”

This seemed to get Percy out of his stupor. “What?” Percy asked.

“I dropped mine on Annabeth, remember” Harry explained “You want to go get some? My treat”

Percy’s face suddenly turned into a smile. “Yeah sure” he said.

“Alright” Harry smiled “I think it is that way” He said while pointing down the opposite direction Annabeth had walked in.

“Alright” Percy said “Let’s go” and they set off in silence.

Luckily the awkward silence only lasted a second before Percy started rambling about things Harry didn’t have a clue about: “So do you know which Hogwarts house you’re in? I went to Ilvermorny at the start of this year, they start in January you know,  and I was put in Pukwudgie, my mom says it because I’m guided by heart. Anyway doesn’t matter anymore I got expelled from there for blowing up the greenhouse, not my fault. So yeah I will probably be a Huffelpuff-”

Harry just kept smiling as his new friend kept talking.

Once they started classes at Hogwarts Harry was happy he already made some friends along the way like Percy and Ron whom he had met on the train. Harry and Ron quickly bonded over the fact they were both sorted into Gryffindor. Percy was, as he predicted, sorted into Hufflepuff but still hung out with them all the time. Apparently disliking the Slytherins was a trait among both houses.

Thus it wasn’t a surprise that Harry and Ron’s nemesis, Draco Malfoy, was sorted into Slytherin. Percy however upheld a rivalry with another Malfoy: Annabeth, Draco’s sister.

As the years went on Harry and Malfoy’s rivalry grew into something more; a pure hatred for each other. The more Draco got involved with his family's dynamics the bigger of an enemy he became towards Harry and his friends.

Annabeth and Percy’s rivalry took another turn however. In the first year they seemed to truly loathe each other. They screamed in the hallways, would try to get the other detention and even put jinxes on each other every chance they got. The first year no one wanted to be near when those two were in the same vicinity.

However, after the summer something had changed. They still clearly had a rivalry, trying to beat each other in classes and giving snidey remarks, but they didn’t seem to fly at each other’s throats anymore.

Harry had to be honest, from the two Malfoy’s, Harry definitely preferred Annabeth. She could be rude and stoic but usually her actions did have reasonings. Even while everyone thought Percy and Annabeth absolutely hated each other, over the years Harry had learned that deep down they might actually care more than they would like to confess.

2th year April, Potions

Harry was standing in front of the door to the potions classroom, deciding if he should enter or not. McGonagall had handed him a note to pass Snape, which he wasn’t too happy about.

Just as he was about the enter an irritated voice sounded from the classroom; “You’re doing it wrong”. It was the unmistakable voice of Annabeth Malfoy. Harry had forgotten that the Slytherins and Hufflepuffs were having their additional potions classes right now.

“How would you know?” the voice of Percy retorted.

“Because I can read you idiot” Annabeth deadpanned “It clearly says here to put in the leaves first and then steer it counterclockwise three times”

“Then the book is wrong,” Percy said smugly.

“The book is not wrong!” Annabeth countered heatedly.

“I know what I’m doing! We have to steer it clockwise!” Percy was raising his voice now as well.

“Just because you’re a son of- you what never mind”

“Where you about to say son of a bitch just now?!”

“Language!”

“You were about to say it yourself!”

“Did not!”

“Did too!”

“You know exactly what I was about to-”

“JACKSON, MALFOY, leave my classroom at once!” Snape interjected.

“But professor” Annabeth tried

“Out” Snape drawled

Apparently being a Malfoy didn’t always get you out of trouble with Snape. Annabeth stormed out of the classroom with Percy following suit. They didn’t seem to notice that they walked right past Harry further into the hall.

“Nice work Seaweed Brain”

“hey you started swearing”

Annabeth stopped walking and turned to Percy. Even from here, he noticed the deadpan expression on her face. Percy seemed to stare back for a few seconds but quickly broke down.

“Ok ok I can see how this was my fault” Percy said while holding his hands in the air as a peace sign. Harry was stunned, was he really witnessing Percy saying sorry to Annabeth? Without interference from his mother?!

“you better” Annabeth retorted. “I’m going to the library,” she said before turning around.

“I’m going-” Percy started, but Annabeth had already disappeared behind the corner. “to fling myself into the giant squid lake” he finished while he slowly started to walk in the same direction Annabeth went.

Harry let out a soft snicker. Even when Percy was alone he joked around.

3th year Januari, Great Hall

Harry watched with wide eyes as Ron was trying to shove multiple custard pastries into his mouth.

“se I fip asleas tjen pjieshes” Ron said while spitting pieces of pastry all over the table

“mmm are you sure it weren’t nine piece?” Hermione questioned

“WAS!?” Ron exclaimed. Ron turned toward Harry. “Sharry?”

Harry blinked twice and then proceeded to wipe some of the pre-chewed pastries of his face.

“It was nine” Harry agreed.

Ron shook his head in defeat.

“Why in the world would you want to make this a competition anyway?” Hermione asked in disgust.

“Sh a mensh honur hormini” Ron responded inaudibly.

“Swallow before you speak, Ron” Hermione chastised.

Ron rolled his eyes but swallowed loudly. “It’s a man’s honour, Hermione” He explained “Talking about honour, Malfoy alert at 12 o’clock”

Harry looked around. “Draco?” he asked until his eyes landed on the person walking in. “Oh Annabeth,” he said.

“I still don’t get why you guys hate her that much?” Hermione wondered

“Because she’s a Malfoy of course!.” Ron spat out.

“She doesn’t really act like a Malfoy” Hermione retorted.

“What do you mean! She is a snobby, annoying, Slytherin know-it-all right” Ron exclaimed.

“She doesn’t hate mudbloods” Hermione countered. “She is actually quite nice to me”

Ron looked surprised, “she is?”

At that point, Percy came walking up to them. Under his arm was a huge sandwich which he probably built earlier at the Hufflepuff table. “Who is what?” he asked jokingly.

“Annabeth doesn’t hate mudbloods” Ron suddenly said “but she is a Malfoy”.

Percy sat down “Well, Annabeth didn’t grow up in the Malfoy manor”. He explained after which he took a bite of his sandwich.

“Wait what?” Ron questioned.

Percy made a ‘wait’ motion while trying to swallow his bite. He put his sandwich down on the plate before he started speaking again.

“She ran away from home when she was 7” He explained “She only occasionally visits but she has major beef with her dad… or something” he quickly added.

“And you know this how?” Hermione questioned.

“Because..” Percy fell flat. He seemed to think about the answer a bit too long for Harry’s liking “Because she’s my enemy, of course, gotta know everything about her”

“Favorite colour?” Ron questioned

“Grey” Percy responded before he caught himself. “Anyway, she doesn’t care if you're Muggle-born or not”

Ron quickly stole a glance at the Slytherin table.

“She’s a strange one, she is” he concluded.

Percy let out a laugh “Oh yeah she definitely is”

Harry couldn’t exactly read Percy’s face, but he was wondering if his laugh was at Annabeth or about her.

4th year May, detention

Harry blamed Percy for getting them into detention. Sure he has a hand for it as well but this was all Percy.

You would think that Hufflepuffs are soft, loyal creatures that frolic in fields all day. Imagine his surprise when it wasn’t Percy frolicking around the field but instead a dog the size of a truck, eating all the giant pumpkins Madam Sprout had been growing since last year.

Running behind the dog was Percy, who had a poor time keeping up with the giant beast. “Misses O’Leary Stop!” he yelled “Oly stop please! Oly!”.

A few meters away stood Annabeth. “You wanna play girl” she yelled as she was waving a large stick above her head. She threw the stick with such force she would have made Olympian javelin throwers cry.

“This is clearly not working!” she yelled towards Percy, who was still running behind the dog in circles.

Harry walked up to her. “Oh hey Harry” she said, still having her eyes trained on the dog.

“What’s happening?” Harry questioned.

Annabeth let out an exhausted sigh. “This idiot decided to bring his Hell hound to school?”

“Hell hound?” Harry swallowed.

“Oh don’t worry” She said “Mrs O’Leary wouldn’t hurt a fly.. Well she would but she wouldn’t hurt you”

“In that case,” Harry said unsurely, hoping the answer would be ‘no’; “Do you need help?”

Annabeth seemed to think about it for a second, mumbling ‘Three should work’. “Yeah thanks, I had a plan but we couldn’t do it with the two of us.”

She pulled out her wand and walked over to one of the smaller pumpkins. Pointing at it she casted a silent incantation, transforming the pumpkin into a big shiny red ball. She picked it up and threw it in the air one time, feeling the weight of it.

“Ok Harry, we’re going to play catch” she said.

“Wait what?” Harry asked bewildered.

“Just stay here and follow my lead” she responded casually.

She placed her fingers in her mouth and let out an ear-piercing whistle. The hellhound stopped running and looked towards Annabeth. Percy, who had noticed the whistle a little bit later than the dog, ran straight into her like an American Football player. The dog didn’t move an inch.

“MRS O’LEARY” Annabeth yelled holding the ball high above her head and now running a distance away from Harry “Come play”

The dogs' eyes grew wide and she let out a single bark. As to confirm ‘I’m coming’. And she took off with a big leap. On her flank, Percy was holding on to her fur and was seemingly riding her sideways, like a cowboy about to fall of his horse.

“Harry now!” she yelled as she threw the ball to him with a godly force. She was lucky Harry was in the quidditch team because otherwise, she could have knocked someone’s head off.

“Percy next!” Annabeth yelled again. Harry stiffened, she hadn’t given Percy any indication about what they were doing, how could she expect him to catch the ball? But Percy seemed to understand her simple command, as he let go of the dog, did a graceful head roll, jumped up and held his hands high into the air.

“Harry!” He yelled, “I’m open”.

Harry didn’t have to be told twice. As he saw the dog barreling towards him he threw the ball towards Percy, who cached it with ease. Mrs O’Leary started to understand the game now and yapped happily, focusing on running towards Percy instead of murdering more of the pumpkin patch.

They threw the ball around for a while and weirdly enough, all of them were smiling. For the first time ever Percy and Annabeth were not squireling. Now that Harry taught about it this was the first time he really seen Annabeth laugh. Suddenly she seemed carefree and Harry found it hard to believe she was a Malfoy to begin with.

After some time Mrs. O’Leary finally seemed to slow down. She was clearly getting tired.

“I think we can stop now” Percy yelled to the other three.

Annabeth nodded and instead of throwing the ball over to one of them, she passed it straight on to the dog. Mrs O’Leary slouched down on the ground and happily started chewing on her new ball.

“Thanks, now we just have to get her ho-” Percy’s sentence was broken up by a loud scream.

The trio immediately snapped their heads towards the sound.

“MY- MY PUMPKINS” the voice yelled. It was Madam Sprout, her face the colour of milk.

“DETENTION! ALL THREE OF YOU! FOR…. FOREVER!” she screamed.

Harry was just happy the summer holidays would be starting in three days.

5th year October, library

Harry, Ron and Hermione didn’t mean to snoop, but to their defence, the girls a few tables over weren’t even whispering anymore at this point.

“No but objectively, Hufflepuff has the hottest boys” Lisa Turpin said matter-of-factly.

The other girl, Lavender Brown, scrunched her nose. “Name a few then” Lavender challenged.

“Well for starters Elliot, Andreas, Roger to name a few,” Lisa said smugly.

“Percy” Katie piped in.

Lavender and Lisa turned her way with a big smile on their face. “whooowww” they both sounded at the same time.

Katie just had an annoyed expression. “Well objectively, he’s hot” she said.

Lavender shrugged her shoulders “Well objectively I can definitely not deny that”.

The girls giggled.

“So you’re going after him” Lisa asked Katie.

Suddenly Katie’s expression morphed into an excited one. “You haven’t heard yet?” She asked the duo who responded with empty stares. “Oh no so you haven’t” Katie exclaimed excitedly “So Megan told Parvati, who told me that she saw Percy come out of the room of requirements, His robes and hair all disheveled and the best part… Annabeth came out right behind him”

Ron, Hermione and Harry immediately threw up their heads and stared at each other.

“Annabeth Malfoy?!” Lavender exclaimed. Katie nodded her head furiously.

“He’s dating a Slytherin?” Lisa questioned.

“Well probably more snogging up with her” Katie laughed. The girls continued giggling among each other.

“That can’t be true!” Ron whispered loudly “Percy hates her!”

“Well, hate is a big word…” Hermione responded “But I certainly don’t think he would ever date her”

Harry thought about it for a second. He had seen them squabbling less and less at each other as the years passed. And of course, there was that time in the pumpkin field…. But no he was sure Percy and Annabeth couldn’t be liking each other that much.

“I would eat my shoe before those two would be dating” Ron pitched in. “but that begs the question why were those two coming out of the room of recuirments together?”

“Well, we can just ask Percy, can’t we? Harry proposed.

“Ask me what?” they suddenly heard from behind. Ron let out a high-pitched scream and both Harry and Hermione flew up in their chair.

“Erg.. Hi Percy” Ron said cautiously.

“What did you want to ask me?” Percy questioned them again.

“Emh well..” Ron started

Hermione sighed “Megan told Parvati who told Katie who was telling Lavender and Lisa that they saw you and Annabeth Malfoy come out of the room of recruitments together.”

Percy was still for a second, and then burst out laughing. “Oh that” he said still snickering “Annabeth and me are duel partners.”

“Duel partners?” Harry wondered.

“Yeah we were picked to enter the dueling competition at Ilvermony next year” Percy explained.

“So you’re not snogging Annabeth?” Ron asked seriously.

“Em, no of course not” Percy said with an unreadable expression. “Iewl” he added a few seconds later.

“See I told you guys! Percy would never have a thing for Annabeth” Ron paraded happily.

 5th year February, Great Hall,

Harry just turned around the corner to enter the Great Hall when he bumped into someone. “Watch where you’re going, you dimwit!” The voice of a girl sounded angrily. Annabeth Malfoy.

Harry never thought he would be having the same kind of interactions with Annabeth again as when they first time they met, but here they are. During winter break something had changed Annabeth, or more so reverted her back to her 11-year-old self.

Before the break would almost go as far as calling her a friend, or well maybe an acquaintance. Either way he could have decent conversations with Annabeth. Yes, she was still direct and straight to the point but she genuinely felt like a sincere person. No he was not so sure.

He watched her storm down the hall, scaring everyone on her path out of the way. Harry sighed and continued walking towards the Gryffindor table. He plopped down next to Ron.

“What’s gotten into her?” Ron questioned out loud.

“She has been this way ever since winter break” Harry answered.

“Or since Percy….” Hermione said quietly.

All three of them got a sombre look on their face. Their friend Percy hadn’t returned after the winter break. When the trio went to ask Dumbledore he faced them with the truth: Percy had gone missing for a while now.

“You think she is missing her rival that much?” Harry wondered. Hermione kept silent.

“What- what if it is her fault, you guys?” Ron pitched in “What if she got him to disappear, after all, her father is a dead Eather.”

“You can’t make those kind of assumptions, Ron” Hermione reminded him.

“Well but anyway it can’t hurt to ask right? Or at least we can send out some letters?” Ron proposed.

Harry and Hermione nodded. That seemed like a good idea, maybe someone had heard something about Percy’s disappearance.

“Let’s head to the owlery” Hermione proposed.

---

Apparently, the trio weren’t the only ones with this plan. As they walked up the spiralling stairs and opened the door, they were met with the back of Annabeth’s head.

She was intensely staring at an owl sitting on the windowsill. Apparently, she hadn’t heard the trio come in.

“Just give me a sign,” She told the owl encouraging. The owl remained silent.

“Come on, just one clue” She now told the owl more frustrating. The owl still hadn’t made any intention to speak.

“MOM!” Annabeth suddenly shrilled at the owl. At her sudden outburst Ron, Hermione and Harry shot into the air. Annabeth’s head immediately turned towards them.

“What are you three doing here!” she growled furiously.

The three of them cowered in fear. Harry had never seen Annabeth this angry before. He was questioning if it was directed at them, her mother or the owl.

“We- We were-” Harry started. But there was no point in lying to Annabeth even though it probably meant his death. “We were going to send out some letters questioning Percy’s whereabouts.”

To Harry's surprise, some of the fire died down in Annabeth’s eyes. So she was actually missing Percy for real? Then if it wasn’t her who made him disappear, who was?. Unfortunately Ron didn’t notice Annabeth’s shift.

“And if you know anything about his whereabouts you better tell us now!” Ron said in an accusing tone.

There was a three-second silence in which no one moved. Suddenly Annabeth dashed forward.

“Shut up, Weasley!” she said as she pushed Ron out of the way. She proceeded to run down the stairs.

Hermione, Ron and Harry looked at each other in shock. Had they just seen the stoic Malfoy… cry?

5th year end of June, the Great Hall

It was the final feast of the year. They had finished their final exams only two days before and spent the other days packing up their stuff. Tomorrow they would already find themselves back on the train towards London.

Harry was feeling miserable. He just lost Sirius and was definitely not looking back to spending his summer in Little Winning. Besides that, the year had been awful as well. Umbridge had barely made him hate Hogwarts, he learned he was involved in some sort of prophecy and they lost more good people besides Sirius that year. Harry thought about Percy, who never returned after the winter break. Since even location spells weren’t working on him, the order concluded Percy had been killed by a Death Eather.

After that day in the owlery, Harry had held a strange hope that Annabeth would have found Percy by now. It might have been because they always seemed to find each other within the school, they were weirdly put on the same projects all of the time, and it seemed that every time Percy did something stupid Annabeth had been there to laugh at him.

But nothing happened. Annabeth hadn’t magically returned Percy. Harry took a quick glance at the Slytherin table. Annabeth was looking tired and was poking at her food. Suddenly her head shut up and she looked towards the front of the hall, her eyes shining.

“Harry!” Ron hissed. “Look!”

Harry turned his gaze towards the front of the room. There was some rumbling and a sudden flash of light. All the students turned their heads to look away from the explosion.

Harry’s eyes were still adjusting to the light when a voice somewhere in the front grumbled “Ow! That’s not what I meant by giving me a lift”.

Harry knew that voice. His suspicions were confirmed as soon as the light cleared away. Standing at the front of the Great Hall was Percy. He was wearing some sort of weird purple robes and looked taller, but it was definitely Percy alright?.

Dumbledore stumbled towards Percy. “Euh” he started, but then he seemed to realize who had crashed their banquet “Ah young Perseus, It’s truly a gift to see you ag-”.

Suddenly someone was dashing past the dinner tables up to the front. It was Annabeth. At the same time Percy took off with incredible speed. First Harry thought he was going to run from her but instead he was going straight towards her!.

They met in the middle. Students where holding their breaths, probably afraid of what going to happen now that the two enemies had reunited again. Some of the professors in the front had taken their wands out.

But what happened almost no one expected. Instead of fighting each other, Percy wrapped his arms around Annabeth and they kissed!

A gasp echoed through the whole hall. Everyone’s eyes were wide. Grabe and Goyle were holding their hands in front of Draco’s eyes.

Percy pulled away and looked at Annabeth. “Gods, I never thought-”

Annabeth his wrist and flipped him over her shoulder. She slammed him down onto the ground and put her knee on his chest. She pushed her forearm against his throat. “If you ever leave me again” she said “I swear to all gods-”.

The hall was suddenly filled with laughter. It was Percy’s. “Consider me warned,” he said “I missed you, too”

Annabeth rose and helped him to his feet. The whole hall was silent.

A Slytherin girl was the first to speak up “But- But you hate Percy?!” she shrilled.

“Well” Annabeth said “I certainly did for a bit, but I haven’t hated him for a long time”

Ron suddenly stood up. “But you fought with her all the time!” he interjected.

Percy chuckled “Fought or… found reasons to get into detention togheter?” Percy challenged.

“But- What?” Ron looked confused as he sat back down again. “Should have known it when he knew her favourite colour” Ron mumbled.

“Em” sounded suddenly from the front. It was Dumbledore. “We are very happy to have you back Perseus, now please everyone give them some space and let us continue the feast”.

Everyone reluctantly took their eyes off Annabeth and Percy, and continued their previous antics. Percy walked over towards Harry, Hermione and Ron. Tightly holding Annabeth’s hand in his.

“Percy, I am so happy you’re back,” Harry said genuinely. He was trying to keep his tears at bay. They stood up and gave him a hug.

“But where were you the whole time?” Ron questioned “And when did this happen?” motioning his hands between Percy and Annabeth. Harry feared for a second that Ron was going to give Percy some comments about him dating a Malfoy, but he seemed to just be happy Percy was back. As Ron asked the latter question he had a mischievous grin on his face. He probably also realized by now that Annabeth was not like her brother, she was not a bad person.

“Well children that’s the question right” Percy laughed as he threw his arms over Ron and Harry’s shoulder. Slowly guiding them towards the exit of the great hall. Harry noticed he still hadn’t let Annabeth out of his sight.

“So it starts with a girl and boy really hating each other during the first year of school… until they went to summer camp together.”
