Summary
Viserys I dies atop his wife, Alicent Hightower, who is left humiliated and traumatised by the event. But the old king's death leaves her with more than just that - it leads to the ascension of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, Alicent's old friend whom she snubbed with her marriage to the late king. Rhaenyra already has her heir - so Alicent's children with the old king are now redundant. This puts her place at court, as well as the lives of herself and her children at stake. Alicent has to rely on her wits and knowledge of her old friend to keep herself safe within King's Landing - but does she still know her friend as well as she used to?
