Chapter 1: Theft

Chapter Text

Porchay Pichaya Kittiswat was getting an extra pencil from his bag to loan to the kid sitting next to him when he his phone vibrated in his pocket. He discreetly pulled it out. He would never dream of doing it in High school but now that his Hia is associated with the Mafia he needed to be on alert 24/7 to make sure that his Hia was safe.

It wasn’t a message from his Hia, he didn’t actually expect it to be but he could not in good faith not check. Instead it was a message from his friend Melody.

Melody: SOS near girls bathroom second floor. Please Hurry.

He knew Melody, she wasn’t one to just casually send an SOS. Something was very wrong.

Chay: I’m on my way!

Chay started packing up his things then raised his hand.

“Excuse me Ajarn, I have to leave. I have a family emergency.” Chay screwed up his face to make it more believable.

“Alright. Please continue your project and read the next chapter of the text for the next class.” Chay nodded his acknowledgement and picked up his bag and guitar case and headed out of the room towards the SOS.

Melody Phairoh Preedan was doing something that was mildly concerning to Porchay Kittiswats eyes as he made his way to the are in the middle of the 2nd floor where the bathrooms were located. She was leaning against the wall with her eyes closed. She had tears staining her round flushed cheeks.

“Melody!” Chay called softly so not to spook his distraught friend as he held on her arm. “What happened?”

Melody tried to speak but nothing came out. “Where’s your wheelchair?” Melody shook her head. Chay was confused.

“Come sit down.” Chay put Melody’s arm around his shoulder and he helped her over to the window seat not far from the bathrooms.

“What happened?” Chay handed her a pack of tissues from his bag.

“Thank you.” Melody took a breath. “I don’t know what happened. I had to use the bathroom and the handicap stall was occupied so I had to use the smaller one. I had to get out of my wheelchair because it doesn’t fit in the smaller stalls. I heard the door to the handicap stall open and someone washing their hands and I think that while the air dryer was activated someone backed my wheelchair out of the room that’s the only way I wouldn’t have heard it backing up there’s a beeping noise it makes.”

“Why would someone steal your Wheelchair?”

“I don’t know. Some people are assholes.” Chay took out his phone. He didn’t want to do this but he needed to for Melody.

Kim could find out things quickly. He unblocked Kim’s number and started to type.

Chay: Are you on campus today? There’s an emergency and my friend needs some help.

Kim responded immediately: I am. There is a rumor that someone is auctioning off a wheelchair that has a bunch of signatures of singers including WIꓘ.I want to see it for myself to see if its real.

Chay gasped. Holy Shit.

“What’s wrong?” Melody asked. She saw Chays eyes go wide.

“Someone is trying to auction off your chair. That’s why they took it. Because of all the famous signatures you have on the back of your chair.” Melody slumped back on the bench.

Chay typed back to Kim

Chay: Before you do that, can you please come to the 2nd floor near the bathrooms? I have some information about the auction that you’re not going to like.

Kim: I’m on my way.

Chay put his phone down. “I have a friend on the way. He’s going to help me get your chair back.” Melody sighed. He did not mention who the particular friend was.

“I hate to be negative but is that even possible?” Chay smirked. Oh you have no idea. “I’m just really mad. My crutches were on the back of the chair. I have special slots for them so I can use them when I feel good enough to walk. Those assholes couldn’t even leave them for me.”

Now Chay really couldn’t wait for those who took his friends main mode of getting around to get what was coming to them. And it would be even sweeter coming from one of the reasons the chair was taken in the first place.

Chay could sense Kim was near before he saw him. Classes were just letting out and students were crowding the hallway but sudden giggles and excited chatter meant that the idol/Mafia Prince was close.

Melody’s back was turned so that she didn’t see Kim but she did see Chay’s face change. Melody turned to look behind her. Whatever she was expecting to see, it wasn’t WIꓘ in his school uniform looking insanely hot. She knew he was a student here but she hadn’t had the privilege to see him on campus as a regular student as of yet.

“Good afternoon P’WIꓘ” Chay waii’d politely. He hadn’t talked to him since seeing the video Kim privately sent him but he knew he had to for Melody’s sake.

Kim waii’d back to both younger students. Chay shot up to give Kim the seat. He had a quick mission he had to go on anyway but he didn’t want to leave Melody alone.

“Please sit P’WIꓘ. I need to run and get something for P’Melody real quick. I’ll be right back and then we can go get some coffee or Boba and talk about the auction.” Kim didn’t like the idea of being left alone with a stranger. Even if she was a woman and knows his Bambi, that didn’t mean she couldn’t or wouldn’t be dangerous. His eyes pleaded with Chay.

“It’s okay P’WIꓘ. I’ll be quick.” Before Kim could respond Chay patted Melody’s back and ran down the stairs to the nurses room to get a wheelchair for Melody to use for now. Chay would have brought Melody along but the closest elevator was out of order and he knew that she couldn’t walk all the way to the next set of elevators.

Melody averted her eyes from the idol in front of her. She felt so embarrassed. This is NOT how she ever planned on meeting him.

Kim was discreetly watching the teenager across from him. Her cheeks were bright pink. She wouldn’t look at him as her right hand absentmindedly rubbed her thigh. She winced just a little before her demeanor went back to how it was before, but Kim noticed.

“Are you alright?” Worry for Chays friend showed on his beautiful face.

“I’m ok, thank you for your concern.” Melody looked at her idol but tried not to stare. She didn’t want to come across as creepy. Kim nodded. He hoped that Chay would hurry back.

It took a few minutes longer than he liked but soon Chay was coming down the other side of the hallway from the one he left from not to long ago. Kim watched as the younger man ran through the now clear hallway with an empty wheelchair. His curly hair was bouncing along as he ran behind the chair a smile on his face. “Your chariot, Madame.”

“You’re enjoying this way too much.” Melody laughed. She held on to the benches arm and steadied herself as she transferred to the awaiting wheelchair. “Thank you.” She said quietly. She hated to be dependent on others.

Melody got ready to push herself like she was used too but Chay shooed her hands away. “Don’t take away my fun.”

Melody glared at him and for a second even Kim was scared.

“You’re lucky I love you.” Melody laughed as they made their way out of the building.  Kim caught Chay’s bright brown Bambi eyes. He was still confusued about what was happening but he was starting to have an idea. “Let’s get something cold to drink then head to my dorm to talk. It’s way to hot for me to be outside for long.”

“N’Melody, N’Chay your usual’s?” The Auntie at the drinks stall knew them well. They nodded. She turned to Kim. “N’ WIꓘ I haven’t seen you around for awhile do you still prefer a Caramel Mocha Iced Latte?”

Kim nodded. “Only when I’m getting it from you Auntie, otherwise it’s as black as my soul.” Kim smiled and the Auntie blushed at his shameless flirting.

Chay started giggling. Oh how Kim missed hearing the sounds of Chay’s laugh.

The Auntie handed them all their iced cold drinks.

Kim took ahold of Chay’s Coconut Milk Tea so he could continue to push Melody’s chair. Melody grabbed her Brown Sugar Boba and stabbed her straw through the lid taking a long well deserved sip. She had had a very strange day after all.

“Alright my dorm isn’t to far. I’m so sorry to bother you P’ WIꓘ”

“You’re not bothering me at all. I just want to know what‘s going on. I have a feeling its not going to be anything good.”

Melody sighed. “You’re right but can we wait until we’re inside?” They nodded and made the three minute journey to Melodys handicap accessible dorm room.

Kim took a look around the moment he finished taking off his shoes. The main part of the apartment was open and spacious. A kitchen, dining and living room that was clear enough for a wheelchair to pass through easily and two doors on the back wall were closed. Most likely a bathroom and bedroom.

The living area had a large sofa and a flat screen TV. One thing that did draw Kim’s eye was the music station that had a keyboard and a mic stand. Posters from a mix of local and well known artists were framed on the wall above the keyboard. Kim smiled when he noticed his own tour poster among them.

Melody wheeled herself to the empty side of the dining table and took three coasters from the middle of the table placing them at the opposite side of the table for Chay and Kim. Melody took a long sip of her Brown Sugar Boba hoping the sugar would give her courage.

“I was using the restroom this morning but someone had been using the handicap accessible stall so I had to get out of my chair, it would not fit in the normal stall, to use the bathroom. I heard the door to the handicap stall open and someone washing their hands and I think that while the air dryer was activated someone backed my wheelchair out of the bathroom that’s the only way I wouldn’t have heard it backing up there’s a beeping noise it makes.” Melody reiterated what she had told Chay now to P’ WIꓘ. She took her cell phone from her bag and opened up the photo gallery. She picked out the one with the best focus to see all the autographed patches on the back of her chair. She showed it to the men sitting beside her. “See, there are even awareness ribbons mixed in with all my health issues along with the autographs so it can’t just be a random wheelchair.”

Melody was right he noticed at least three ribbons amongst the signatures a yellow a blue and a purple.

“Did whoever send you the message about the auction attach a picture of the chair up for auction?” Chay asked Kim. He shook his head.

“I can message them to see if they can get one sent to me.” Kim’s fingers flew over the screen as he typed out a message to the person he first heard about the auction from, he continued, “but from your photos and what they told me, it definitely sounds like your chair.” Chay was right Kim didn’t like this. He didn’t like this at all.

Kim, even though he wasn’t big on emotional feelings, took ahold of Melody’s hand. “We WILL get your chair back!” He said with so much conviction that Melody shivered. It could just be because her favorite artist was in her dorm and holding her hand trying to give HER comfort.

“My crutches are on the back of my chair. I have no way of getting around. I DIY’D it myself so that I’d be able to walk when I was feeling well enough or my chair wouldn’t fit in the places I needed to go. The reason I didn’t bring them into the stall was because it was just easier for me to hold onto the stall door for support. God this is so embarrassing.” Melody hid her face in her hand not being held by her idol.

Chay peeked over at Kim. He was trying to keep his composure but he was angry. This is no way a person should ever be treated, fan or not.

“I’m going to make a phone call. Maybe there’s a camera in the hallway near the bathrooms that caught whoever took it.”

Melody’s mouth dropped. “We can do that?”

Kim winked at her. “ You might not be able to but I CAN!” Kim moved away from the dining table to have some privacy. P’ WIꓘ was no longer running the show Kim Kimhant Theerapanyakun was now in charge.

“Hey Arm I need you to pull the camera feed from the second floor of the Wang Building on my schools campus, especially near the bathrooms. I’m looking for a very specific wheelchair that has been stolen and also check surrounding areas for what direction it went in after it left the hallway.”

“Since when do you look into trivial things like that?” Arm asked as he started to hack into the joke of a campus security system.

“Since it involves Porchay’s friend and a fan of WIꓘ’s.” Kim knew all the bodyguards loved Porsche’s little brother. How could they not? He was ADORABLE!

“On it Khun Kim. I’ll send over the information and videos once I have them.”

“Thank you Arm.” Kim hung up and walked back to the table and sat down.

“I have one of the best people on it! Do you have any suspects in mind that would do something horrible like this?” Kim asked Melody. She didn’t take long to answer.

“P’Hannah. Her father is an American Millionaire while her mother is a Thai Fashion Designer." That got Kim’s attention

“Do you know what her brand is?” Chay looked at Kim like he was crazy.

“Um…Mai Ngam Designs, why?”

“If she is the one causing the trouble, I don’t want to ever associate my name with her mother’s brand.”

“Oh I hope it doesn’t come to that. I wouldn’t want you to be put in that kind of position.” Kim smiled at her. Chay had really great friends who showed nothing but kindness, something Kim wasn’t used to in his everyday life.

“Well if it turns out not to be her then I wont actively try and destroy her mothers business even though she must give you some trouble if you thought of her first and foremost.”

“Well P’Hannah has never liked me just because I was born with a lot of health problems and being heavier than most people my age. Being different isn’t always good in the eyes of ones peers.” Melody took a sip of her Boba.

“Most people are assholes, not really caring about feelings.” Chay couldn’t help but say. Yes, Kim was helping him out but he was still pissed at what he did to him. Chay wouldn’t meet Kim’s obsidian eyes, he was sure was boring into him. His body felt like it was going to combust.

“I agree, but I think some people deserve a chance to explain why they did what they did.” Melody watched the two men realizing there was more than meets the eye between them. Oh when she ans Chay were next alone she would make him spill his guts!

Before more could be said Kim’s phone rang. “What did you find Arm?” He was direct and to the point.

Chay’s ears perked up at the name of one of Tankhuns’ favorite bodyguards.

“There’s a clear video from the area in front of the bathrooms of a person using the wheelchair you described. I’m sending the file to your phone now Khun Kim.”

Kim hung up and opened the secure file that Arm had sent him. He stood up and moved to crouch by Melody’s chair. Chay looked over her other shoulder. Kim pressed play on the video.

Melody sucked in her breath as she watched Hannah with whom she could tell it was her by the bubble gum pink hair that was in side French braids and a star tattoo on the back of her neck. Her best friends Prim and Cookie followed her out of the bathroom and they made their way down the hallway towards the elevator that was still in service.

Kim paused the video once Melody was seen coming out of the bathroom struggling to stand up against the wall. He'd watch whatever else Arm found out on his own. He didn't want to drag Melody into more than she needed to see.

He looked up and saw tears in the young woman’s eyes. Kim couldn't help but look over at Chay. He was rubbing circles on Melody’s lower back. “Do you recognize the women in the video?” Kim asked, voice soft, even though he could already tell by her tears that she knew exactly who was behind the theft. She nodded but it was Chay who answered.

“The one with pink hair is P’Hannah the other two are her best friends P’Prim and P’Cookie. P’Melody isn’t the only one who’s had trouble with them being horrible human beings.” Chay had his own run in with the bratty trio. He glanced at Kim.

Chay could see the moment Kim understood what he was saying. Kim’s eyes were murderous. Chay shook his head. Now was the time to help Melody not himself. Kim understood but he would enjoy making these women pay. Usually he took issue with harming women but all things flew out the window the moment his Bambi got involved.

Melody dried her eyes and looked at Kim. “So what do we do now P’ WIꓘ?”  Kim stood up, stretched and ran his hand through his long silky hair.

“Now all we can do is wait to hear back from my contact about the auction and plan how to get the chair back. I have some ideas already.”
