Crunch
The snow lining the sidewalk collapsed as Traffic wandered aimlessly through the dim streets.
Crunch
He almost felt guilty, ruining such a smooth surface with his boots. But in the end, it was the snow's fault for being where his foot was.
Crunch
The hazy streetlights looked centuries old, and he could've sworn were filled with an actual flame.
Crunch
In the distance he could see some dark figure slowly walking towards him. But he was too tired to do anything about it and continued walking that direction anyway.
He was beginning to regret coming to Blackrock in the middle of winter, let alone one of the coldest days of it.
Not having a shelter wasn't very favourable on a night like this.
The small figure grew ever closer, and Traffic paid his last scraps of attention too it, he didn't wanna be caught off guard and mugged after all.
By the time the two met paths, the smaller demon could feel his gaze piercing his skin.
Abruptly, the figure stopped right in front of Traffic.
"Hey"
Traffic stared them down, getting ready to defend himself if necessary. They looked shorter than him and most certainly weaker. He could probably take him in a fight.
"Who are you?" He cautiously replied, trying to make his voice sound level.
They smiled, the fluff around their cheeks bouncing a little
"I could ask you the same!"
Traffic squinted, staring down the strange demon.
"Say, why are you out on such a cold night like this Traffic?"
He didn't even question how they knew his name, just focusing on them.
They had a deep blue jacket which seemed to be full of fluff, and their horns shot out of their forehead like antlers. They also seemed unbothered by the weather, and he could swear that their breath wasn't freezing and turning white when it touched the air.
"Just… going for a walk"
He peered over Traffic's shoulder, look at his bag jam packed with things
"Really? You seem a bit overpacked for just that."
Traffic flinched, trying to hide his bad from their sight. What did this demon even want?
"I- well- what do you want with me?"
The stranger smiled, reaching into the pocket before pulling out a large wad of bux. It looked around 150k at first glance. He then held it out to Traffic.
"Nothing much, just helping out small businesses"
He stared at the money in shock, taking a few seconds to process before hesitantly taking it.
"Uh- thank you?"
They smiled, revealing a full set of razor sharp teeth
"No problem, have a great night Traffic!"
They began walking past him while he stared at the money in his hand in a state of shock.
Suddenly he snapped out of it, turning to where the demon had walked off to
"HEY WAIT! WHAT WAS YOUR.. name?"
As he reached the last word of his sentence he saw no trace of the stranger, only the snow that lined the sidewalk.
He blinked a few times before pocketing the money and beginning to head to a motel he knew of.
"Strange…" he muttered, looking up to the streetlight as he walked by them
Only this time, he swore the flames were just a little bit warmer
