She's Sparky

Summary:

Dani is a product of her experiences, making for a wild thing with supervillain tendencies.

Day 8, prompt: Electric Core AU

Work Text:

The Fentons eventually wrangled their youngest off of the streets. Dani was given a room, food and an education, but she was still a wild thing. There was a tingling in her bones whenever she was still. Bouncing off the walls was not strictly an expression for her. She was as tameable as a raging storm. Her favourite thing was static, with her preferred pastime involving rubbing her hands and feet against synthetic carpet and hopping onto unsuspecting victims. It was one such instance where she discovered something incredible.

She could hear Danny walking up the steps to the front door, chatting casually with his friends. In an instant she had jumped up from her place on the couch and rubbed everything against the lounge room carpet. Going so far as to roll around as if on fire before rolling to a stand, hands held up with an elfish grin. Danny opened the door, only to pause at the sight of her, stopping mid-sentence. He regarded her with caution, but she wouldn’t give him a chance to run. Dani leapt into the air, going ghost and speeding toward him. The tingle in her bones was nearly burning then, rising in intensity with her excitement. Just as she was a hand-span away from her brother’s ribs, it came out with a crack. A bright string of lightning shot forward.

Dani landed in a crouch on the stoop, ignoring Sam and Tucker’s complaints about being tackled in favour of inspecting her sparking hands. It took her only a moment to understand, already familiar with both Vlad’s plasma and Danny’s ice. Then she stared down at the three disgruntled high-schoolers with a manic grin, and began to laugh. She laughed low and loud and with extra ghost echo. The look on their faces as she raised her arms and added dramatic thunder made this her new favourite thing.
