"Merlin looked away and it was not so much an admission of defeat but a dismissal, and with that, Arthur's anger was rekindled, now burning alongside that other feeling. The boy had no right to look away from him like that, like a hawk granting mercy to the prey it had been watching, as if attracting his attention was a flirtation with doom.
