Felix had always been infatuated with the small, bespectacled inventor he somehow was able to call his boyfriend, from his feisty attitude that fit so perfectly with his own harsh temperament, to his beautiful, freckled face, and the way he flushed at every compliment. he was, as teddy would say, head over heels.
So it made sense that he was about to propose to him.
The ring was in his pocket, a velvet-coated box feeling like the heaviest item in the world. Of course, he splurged for Monty, getting him an expensive gold band encrusted with diamonds and laid in a box far too expensive for any reasonable box, but this wasn't meant to be reasonable. It was meant to be stupid, and ridiculous, and Monty would hate and love it, pissed off that Felix spent too much money when he would've said yes to a ring pop.
Or at least, he hopes Monty feels that way, the blond, normally so self-assured, was nervous. When he first thought of proposing to Monty, he thought it would be a piece of cake, but now, actually sitting in the restaurant on their anniversary of all days, he felt as though his heart was going to pop out of his chest and he's sweating buckets and-
"Uh, Felix, you there?" And just like that Felix was drawn out of his stupor, only to see his boyfriend, confused, but amused look on his face, waving a hand out in front of him.
Quickly, Felix composed himself, clearing his throat and adjusting his blazer, "Ah, yes, my apologies, I was simply... Lost in thought." He explained, hoping that would be enough for his boyfriend not to question, "Right, well uh, I was just askin' how your food is?" the red-head continued, tone slightly sceptical as he moved his hand back from Felix's face and down to where his plate sat, having ordered a steak, normally Monty would have gone for something less... fancy, but alas, the restaurant they were at is fancy, nothing like the sort of burgers Monty would have gotten if he had the choice.
Felix smiled genuinely, albeit slightly nervously at his hopefully soon-to-be finance's question, "it's lovely, but not as lovely as you, my dear," he complimented sincerely, it was true, after all, nothing in Felix's eyes could compare to his beloved, his gorgeous red hair and soft face, every little thing about him was perfect, he couldn't wait to finally wed the man, but alas, the proposal must come first.
"That's good," the inventor broke him out of his stupor yet again, "This shit ain't my usual taste but, it's not too bad, rich boy," he drawled with a teasing wink in his, now flustered, boyfriends direction, "You outdid yourself, really, never thought I woulda liked this shit," he joked before continuing to eat his food. Felix took the cue to start eating his as well, pausing to talk in between forkfuls, "It's all I could do, really, happy fourth anniversary, I don't know what I would have done without you," he told with a smile.
The redhead blushed lightly, a beautiful look on the man, Felix thought, "Happy four years t'you too, ya pompous brat," he said, the words said with a clearly affectionate tone, despite however 'rude' the words may have been.
With the happy anniversary's out of the way, the two continued to eat their dinner, pausing now and then to converse with one another, and ordering dessert and such when they had both finished their meals.
After finally being fully done with their meals and their stay at the restaurant, they left, Felix, of course, paid the bill in full, Monty protested, but Felix insisted it was "his treat."
"Come on, I have something else I would like to show you before we go home," Felix told Monty, grabbing his hand and leading him out to the limousine, a chaperone in the front seat waiting for the lovebirds. The blond heir opened the door for his lover, who jokingly bowed as though he were a prince, "Thank you, kind sir," he said, horrible posh accent and all, Felix smiled at his boyfriend's antics and followed him in getting in the limo.
Felix, sweating bullets at this point, shifted in his seat to be closer to his redhead lover, draping his arm gently over his shoulders, "So where are we headed, babe?" Monty asked, tilting his head to look his boyfriend in the eyes, Felix nervously scrambled for an excuse, before deciding eventually to just take the easy way out, "Well, it's a secret, of course, my dear," he told his boyfriend, the nerves probably obvious in his tone, despite his attempts to mask it.
The drive wasn't that far, which Felix was incredibly thankful for, the less time he had to spend trying to distract Monty, the more likely he was to keep the surprise. After around ten minutes, the limo pulled up relatively close to the spot where the two had had their first date all that time ago.
Felix had made his driver park just far enough away from the actual site so Monty wouldn't recognize it in an attempt to keep him in suspense. Once the spot had actually been reached, the rich twin got out of the car on his side and held the door open once again for his boyfriend. After a bit more banter between the two, they were both finally out of the vehicle, and the chaperone drove off, leaving the couple to make their final trek of the night, the place where Felix would finally propose to the love of his life.
Fishing in his pocket, the rich blonde pulled out a black, silken eye mask, straight away the redhead was defensively sputtering, "What the hell is that for, Felix-? I am not putting that on!" he waved his arms out in front of him. Sadly for Monty, Felix needed this for his plan to work, "Come on, darling? Just for me?" he asked, in the most saccharine tone he could muster, immediately, Monty turned his head to the side, crossing his arms, "I mean- fine," he conceded, taking the mask when it was handed to him and removing his glasses, passing them over to Felix, "Don't see how this bullshit is necessary though, can't see without my fuckin' glasses anyway... You're lucky I'm so nice to you...." he grumbled all the while slipping the mask on.
"Can't ruin the secret, babe," he winked, blushing a little embarrassedly when he realized his lover couldn't see him, "Well, the things on now, you've gotta lead me," Monty demanded, shoving his arm out aimlessly as if forcing Felix to hurry up and grab it, which Felix, of course, did.
With all of that out of the way, at last, Felix got to leading his boyfriend around, making small, pleasant, and perhaps slightly nervous on Felix's part, conversations.
It took maybe five minutes on foot for them to finally reach the place he wanted to go. A beautiful hill, far enough away from the city that where, on nights like these, the stars were visible, shining down prettily on the two (hopefully) soon-to-be fiancés.
"You can take the blindfold off now, Monty," Felix said in a slightly hushed tone, taking Monty's glasses out of his pocket with his free hand and letting go of the hand he was holding. Wasting no time, Monty took off his mask and put on the glasses that were handed to him, immediately he let out a small gasp when he saw where they were. Turning to look at his lover, Monty took a hold of both of Felix's hands, "Is this where I think it is, ya sappy fuck?" he said teasingly despite the blush spreading on his cheeks, "Yeah," Felix answered breathlessly with a small nod, a soft smile on his face as he looks into his boyfriend's eyes, "Where you took me on our first date, remember that," he asked humorously, chuckling softly.
Monty let out a laugh as he nodded, "Of fuckin' course I do, how could I ever forget?" he shook his head slightly as he fondly recalled the date, "You didn't actually want to go, but it's a good thing that I insisted, huh?" he winked, "It really was, I'm so glad we had that dare, dating you was the best decision I've ever made in my life," he told Monty, fully seriously, prompting the redhead to splutter a bit at his oh-so-serious boyfriends untypically romantic response.
Felix took a deep breath, and pulled his hands away from Monty, "Before we keep going... Can I say something?" he blurted out, not wasting any time so he didn't chicken out. Monty looked a little taken aback, but nodded nonetheless, "Of course, whatever you need," he confirmed, a little bit concerned.
Sighing deeply, Felix started, "Monty, in all the years I've known you, and all the years I've dated you, you have been the best thing to happen to me, you've genuinely... changed my life, and I don't know where I'd be without you," he smiled at Monty, looking him in the eyes again as he put his hand in his pocket, "You are the funniest, smartest person I have ever met, I don't believe there's anyone able to be as witty as you are, do even a quarter of the things you are able you do, create the sorts of amazing things you do, and honestly," he took a step back, "I can't imagine a life without you," by this point Monty was tearing up, one hand covering his mouth as he stared up at his boyfriend.
Getting down on one knee and clasping his hands out in front of him, ring both held in them, "Monty, would you do me an honour, and make me the happiest man alive, will you marry me?" Felix finished by opening the red velvet-coated box to reveal the lovely, incredibly expensive, gold diamond-encrusted ring.
By now, tears were streaming down Monty's face as he choked out, "Fuckin- obviously!" he rushed over to his boyfriend- fiancé now, and knelt down in front of him, grabbing his face in both hands, "Felix, oh my fuckin god! yes!" he practically yelled, pulling the blonde into a quick, uncoordinated kiss, Felix struggling to keep his balance, and keep the ring from falling, as soon as he was over the shock he immediately kissed him back.
after a deep, loving kiss, Felix pulled back, wiping away a stray tear, "How about we get this ring on, huh?" he suggested, pulling out the ring from its box and gently grasping Monty's left hand away from his face. Felix took the ring and gently slid it on Monty's ring finger, glad to see it fit him perfectly.
Monty inspected the ring, though it could've been the most butt-ugly ring in the world and he would've adored it, "It's amazing, god I love you so fuckin much," he smooched his boyfriend one last time before standing up, offering his hand to his now-fiancé and helping him up, pulling him into a bone-crushing hug, "I can't believe you proposed to me first," he muttered into his boyfriend's chest with a fake pout on his face, he didn't have it in him to be actually upset.
With a chuckle, Felix wrapped one arm around his fiancé's shoulders and placed a gentle kiss onto the crown of his head, "Of course I did, I love you most after all," he boasted.
"Oh don't you fuckin get started with me, I love you most!"
"Let us just agree to disagree, hmm?"
"OH, YOU FUCKIN BASTARD!-"
