Chapter Text
You wiped your brow as you just finished gathering supplies for you boat plum and white colored fishing boat 'Twilight' or should you say supplies for your home since you lived in your boat.
Basically your days were spent sailing out to sea from town to town selling whatever you managed to catch (which you mostly sold to local restaurants) then with the money picked up fresh supplies maybe even catch a few fish yourself and then off to the next town.
It wasn't a bad life style you honestly enjoyed going out on the high seas on to the next town having just the ocean be your home, like your family before you.
All your family were fishermen and women like yourself though all of them had taken roots and eventually stopped in fear of getting hurt or worse dying at sea.
Though not you, you were determined to never let that happen to you.
As you were getting ready to set sail loading on the last of your cargo a young woman with white hair and pink highlights stopped you "don't go yet" you looked at the woman confused "why not did I forget something at one of the shops?" you asked worried that you were forgetting important cargo.
The woman shook her head "no no a terrible storm is coming in" you walked on your boat and looked at your weather radar as well as the Marine radar on your ship, there were no ships out there but there was a storm coming in though it was miles away.
You sighed smiled then walked back off to the white haired woman "thank you for telling me but I'll be fine I know the sea better then most fishermen" you said confidently the woman frowned "ok but still all the same be careful" they said as you set off.
Once out at sea things seemed fine at first which laughed "looks like I'll be able to beat the storm just as I go to the next two" you saying to yourself looking at the radar "guess that lady warned me for nothing but rain" you shrugged.
As you were about to get settled into bed for the night you heard a loud clash of lighting, "that's odd" you look at your radar again and saw wasn't waiting for you to pass through like you thought it would instead the storm rather quickly blown over your ship now making you realize "maybe I should have waited a day before leaving that town" you said to yourself.
The storm hit hard over your ship Twilght', though you managed to keep your cool reminding yourself "ok just gotta get to the closest town" you chanted to yourself. After a few hours things seemed to be going ok for you managing 'Twlight' in this storm you sighed relief but then you saw the waves start to sweep off your supplies "shit" you cursed.
You ran out to the deck trying to secure your supplies again, you knew it was a bad idea to be out there during the storm but you couldn't afford to lose any of your supplies because this food gas oil fishing gear all of it was supposed to last you at least a month. However if you lost anything now you wouldn't be able to afford to replace it until next month.
So you ran around the deck tying and retying every bit of your cargo as the storm tossed you around the main deck.
As you tied the last knot you groaned "ok now I just need to get back to the steering room" you say to yourself. Then a large wave made you side all the way across the deck you managed to catch yourself from going overboard but instead you knocked your forehead hard into the hand rail making your head spin "no no no ugh" you say your vision getting hazy, you felt your head to see what the damage was seeing blood all over your hand.
Your eyes went wide "shit shit shit" you cursed though you reminded yourself "ok...ugh...ok I can't panic... I need to focus...just focus" you say trying to to shake it off "ok just...ugh need to get back to the steering room... then I can patch myself up and...um just steer out of the storm... yeah simple" you say to yourself thinking it wasn't going to be an issue. You then tried to walk back though you were stumbling way too much just to be from the storm.
You groaned holding onto the hand rail for dear life for support "come on... come on... you can...ugh you can make it Y/N just a few more feet" you say to yourself.
You sighed in relief see you were finally in front of the steering room but as you took one step away from the hand rail another large wave hit you this time knocking you overboard.

Sun and Moon were two of the happiest mermen because they had each other.
Moon loved Sun's golden scales with fins around his face which were a dark shade of yellow and spiked fins down his back with his webbed hands and his tail fanning out with spikes.
Also Sun loved Moon's sliver and navy blue scales, with blue on one side and blue on the other though his upper arms were silver while going towards his hands faded to blue though for Moon's torso it was navy blue except his stomach. Then Moon's fins were similar to Sun having fins on his back but the one around his head looking more like what you would see on a angler fish though it doesn't glow Moon's fin looked like a crescent moon.
However despite loving one another it wasn't to say they didn't still do separate things, though it was almost always for each other's benefits.
Sun would spend his days swimming towards the surface of the sea with his yellow scales shimmering in the sun's rays. While on the surface Sun also liked watching the storms pass over head as well as the ships, when Moon was away getting food he love finding shiny rocks and colorful shells which he shared for his mate as well as making sure there was plenty of medicine for if either of them (most of the time Moon) got hurt.
Moon though preferred to be out at night and definitely loved to hunt at night for prey. However when there was plenty of food in there happy little cave under the sea Moon would stick close by since (unlike most mermen) Sun couldn't see very well in the dark which terrified him so.
Moon though could see great in the dark better than most mermen and like Sun, did (on occasion) collect shiny rocks and shells for his precious mate.
There have been a few times mermen and mermaids have tried to either offer 'his' Sun colorful shells to leave Moon or even threaten Sun. Which for every mermaid and merman that dared to do so Moon chased off or would nearly kill them.
Sun and Moon love each other so much they had wanted to start a family having their own Moon was eager to have little ones to chase while Sun just wanted little ones to hold forever in his arms
However when spring would come and they would make love Sun was able to get his eggs fertilized but Sun couldn't carry their eggs to term.
At first they thought it was bad luck or perhaps one of them didn't eat right. No matter how many times they tried it always ended in tears along with Moon burying what could have been.
Moon did go to the elders of the mermen and mermaids to ask if there was anything that Moon could do or maybe even get for Sun so they could have a family. All three elders shook their heads saying there wasn't nothing they could do.
So now Sun still loved swimming to the surface but also tried to fill that void of wanting children by helping those around him, especially young merfolk, while Moon on the other hand made sure he did everything in his power to keep his mate happy and healthy especially for those tough days.
It seemed like a normal day for the two mermen with Moon kissing Sun on the forehead "I'll be back later Sunshine hopefully with some crab this time" Sun chirp cheerfully "oh yes please Moony" then Moon poked Sun's nose "wait up for me my Sunshine" going out to get food for Sun and him while he looked for anyone in need of help.
After a few hours of swimming around where young mer were usually and even swam close to the surface though Sun didn't see anyone needing help.
Sun was about to head back to his and Moon's cave when he saw you (a human) getting thrown into the water from your ship Sun panicked 'no such a little friend shouldn't be in the water during a storm like this' Sun thought as he swam up grabbing you around your waist and pulling you to the surface.
Sun held your head above water Sun quickly noticed you weren't breathing so Sun then patted your back a bit making you cough up the water immediately with you gasping for air. Sun sighed "good that's good keep breathing little friend" he said holding you carefully seeing how small you were compared to his 25 feet long body, then he looked at your forehead seeing a lot of blood slowly cover it. Sun brushed where the blood was coming from a cut on your forehead "oh no your hurt little friend" Sun said patting your cheek.
Moon seeing Sun on the surface holding something immediately swam up to the surface as well "what are you doing Sun?" Sun looked at his mate not knowing what to say "oh, well this human got hurt and-" then they heard a loud sound behind them.
Sun and Moon looked behind them seeing your ship officially start flipping over with your harpoons getting hurled at Sun and you.
Sun couldn't swim out of the way holding you, so Moon knowing this quickly shielded Sun and you with Moon getting stabbed in the shoulder with the harpoon cutting one of the harpoons getting his tail the other his shoulder though as Moon but stabbed Moon's blood got into your head wound without either Sun or Moon noticing.
Sun helped his mate remove the harpoons "are you alright Moony" Moon nodded "I'm fine" then Moon looked down seeing Sun still clingy to you.
Moon sighed knowing his mate well "look I know you want to make sure this human lives right Sun?" Sun nodded still holding your unconscious body above water, Moon nodded "ok so we are going to drop them off at the next land we see, humans can help this human better than we can" Sun nodded with a sigh "ok" Moon patted Sun's head "trust me it's for the best"
Sun and Moon found a nice piece of land with trees and white sand Sun then swam ashore with Moon behind him as Sun dropped you off at a beach making sure you were far away from the waters edge Sun felt bad leaving you here but hoped Moon was right seeing your wound continue to bleed into the surrounding sand.
Afterwards Moon and Sun swam to their home under the sea to tend to Moon's wounded shoulder and tail with Sun's special paste he makes to heal injured merfolk.
Thankfully being a merman Moon's wounds would heal sooner rather than later though Sun's special paste would help from it from getting infected
(Info: it's made for mermaids and merman's wounds so they don't become infected under water)
Though as Sun fixed his mates shoulder he couldn't help but wonder if any humans came to help you yet. Sun worried about the human remembering their blood soaking the sand around them, Sun decided to check on them once the sun rises.
