Chapter Text
She had never been one for saying goodbye. She never thought she would have to say goodbye. Just like that, in an instant, she had been torn from Amy’s grasp. Or, Amy had been torn from her grasp. Literally.
Somehow, Amy managed to escape the wreckage and his mechanical grasp. She ran. She ran long and hard, even when she grew tired of running. She weaved through barren trees, ducked her head from stray branches, and prayed she would somehow make it out of this alive. Chaos, please let her make it out of this alive.
She broke free from the wood’s grip and came upon a clearing with a lake. It shimmered in the sun’s brilliant rays. There was a planet hanging high in the sky, tethered to the ground by a long metal chain. She thought about her sudden parting and the planet whose freedom was stolen. She knew these events were somehow connected.
Amy’s head whirled at the sudden sound in the forest. Her heart stopped, frozen to the core. Dread pumped through her body like adrenaline.
“No,” she whispered, taking a step back as if that would do her any good. A sudden burst of wind caught her by surprise. She brought her hands up, covering her face. Eyes closed in waiting. Waiting for the inevitable ending that was sure to come. When nothing happened, she slowly opened her eyes, blinking. She gasped before she realized the figure before her was not what she was running from earlier, though they were eerily similar.
He was blue, like the color of the ocean on a fine summer day. His eyes were the color of the grass when it was freshly cut. His smile was hope. He was the answer to her prayers, she just knew it.
He reached out his gloved hand. “Hiya,” he said with a cocky smile that only came with experience. “My name is Sonic. What’s yours?”
“Amy. Amy Rose.”
In that moment, she knew her life was about to change. Forever.
