Chapter Text
3:45 am, usually she'd be asleep before then.
She turned in her bed trying a new position from her usual crossed arms. Turning to her right her gaze landed on the opposite bed and to her roommate, Enid Sinclair.
As usual she was growling in her sleep. It had become a frequent thing that she had gotten used to. Still didn't make it any less annoying. But she never said anything about it.
Wednesday realized she had been staring at her roommate longer than needed and she turned back to her clock.
4:10
There was no way that much time had passed.
Wednesday grumbled as she stared at the ceiling. This never had happened before, maybe someone had poisoned her, no she can handle poison. Maybe someone gave her a curse? But who could be brave enough to give Wednesday Addams a curse?
There was no use to continue trying to sleep, maybe going into town will calm her mind.
She sat up on her bed and looked around her room. She turned on her lamp in an attempt to see without waking her roommate up.
She went towards her closet as she rummaged through her clothes. Putting on a jacket and some shoes she turned off her light and opened the window.
She slowly made her way down towards the front gate of the school. And there she was, making her way to Jericho at 4:20am.
She quickly went into the weather bane. She went into a booth and just rested her head on the table. Why she thought this would get her to sleep, she didn't know.
She turned her towards the window. Across was a store that sold a lot of little things, stuff animals, necklaces, bracelets, beanies, jackets, etc. It was a nice store, if it wasn't for the fact that everything was suppose to be cute.
Wednesday got up and left the Weathervane, she was bored and needed to distract her mind long enough to get tired so she could sleep. What's a better distraction than buying your friend some stuffed animals.
She walked into the store heading straight for the stuff animals section. She already knew what she was going to buy, Enid had been talking about this stuffed cat for ages, about how she wanted to buy it, but always stopping herself from buying in hopes Ajax would get the hint and buy it for her. Spoilers he never got the hint.
She was really only doing this because she was tired and she wanted Enid to shut about the cat. That's it, no other reason. She made it to the aisle and found the cat, but she also found other things, like the same cat just in black, she got that too.
She went towards the cashier to pay only to find the fool sleeping.
"I could rob you so easily." She said out loud.
She of course didn't rob him, it was a pity thing to do while the guy was sleeping, where was the fun in that, no would be trying to chase her.
She slammed a 20 dollar bill on the counter before leaving the store and heading back towards her dorm.
4:46am was the time she snuck back through the window. As she steeped the inside she noticed the light in the room.
As far as she remembered she only turned on her lamp then turned it off.
"Where were you?" A voice from behind her said. Wednesday turned blinking a few times trying to compose herself.
"Did I wake you?" Wednesday mumbled as she slowly backed away to her bed, slightly putting the bag down.
"What's In the bag?" Enid asked as she raised a brow.
They were ignoring each other's questions so bad it was honestly painful.
"Nothing you need to worry about" Wednesday answered, kicking the bag under the bed.
Enid bit her lip as she sat at her bed, looking at her roommate slowly take of her shoes and jacket before she got back in bed.
"Is there something else you need?" Wednesday's said looking straight at her bed not at Enid.
"No, just-I was worried about you" Enid said.
Wednesday turned around to look at Enid, only to see her eyes glowing.
Fascinating
Wednesday turned her whole body around. Enid's side of the room was dark, she thought that was impossible considering the amount of color, but it was dark. The only thing that was lit up was Enid. Not by a light, but by her eyes. They were literally glowing.
Wednesday got off her bed and walked towards Enid, they stood face to face.
Enid slightly backed away when suddenly Wednesday took a hold of her face.
“Uhh Wednesday what are you doing?”
That's when Wednesday noticed something else, Enid’s teeth, they were sharp, very sharp.
Wednesday brought their faces close, she wasn't aware of what she was doing, she just wanted a closer look at Enid. No at Enid's face, no at Enid's-
"Wednesday?" Enid asked which brought Wednesday out of her head as she backed away from her roommate.
Enid finally let out the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding.
"Your eyes are glowing." Wednesday finally mumbled after a few minutes.
"Oh, yeah that happens after you transform, it's so we could see better in the dark." Enid said somehow forgetting how close they were few minutes earlier.
"Interesting"
Wednesday paused to think. She wanted to see if any of Enid's wolf features would react to emotions.
"I bought a gift for you," Wednesday said as she turned away from Enid to her side of the room.
Enid's eyes lit up, like literally lit up. It glowed in the dark room even more than it did before
Wednesday walked back to Enid taking out the plush out of the bag.
"AWW WEDS YOU DIDN'T HAVE TOO!!" Enid squealed as she grabbed the plush, holding it close but also carefully. Enid looked down at the bag as she noticed another plush.
“Did you get matching ones?” Enid smiled, raising an eyebrow when she looked up at Wednesday.
“Don't speak of this to anyone, and I mean that.” Wednesday said, turning away, going to her own side of the room. As she put the bag down and pushed it under her bed.
When she turned around again Enid was face to face with her. Wednesday's breath hitched as she paused.
“I- Thank you Wednesday.” Enid whispered.
Wednesday nodded as her eyes glanced at Enid's lips. Enid didn't notice Wednesday's glance because she was busy with her own glance. Enid wanted to lean in, she really did, but to hurt Ajax like this, she couldn't do that. Enid backed up.
“I mean that, and don't worry I won't mention that you have your own plush.” Enid winked as she turned around and walked to her side.
Wednesday didn't register what had happened until she was in her own bed.
5:30 was the time that Wednesday finally fell asleep.
But something tells her this won't be the last time she isn't going to be able to sleep.
