Work Text:

There's an old house up on top of a hill.

The windows and doors are always shut. Sometimes the older kids in the neighbourhood dare each other to go up the old path and knock.

Most of them laugh and shove each other, some of them gulp and shiver.

Sometimes, kids complain about hearing creepy music coming from the old house.

Lots of people in the town think it's haunted. They've never seen anyone leave the house but the porch light is always lit as the sun disappears behind its frame.

They say the music is coming from the depths of hell, that the house is a portal to the unknown.

In actuality, the house is just a house.

The hill is just a hill.

The horrible old man who lives in that house however, may very well be a demon.

His hair is a ghastly white colour.

Whatever face he had before was probably very plain. Most monsters tend towards the mundane, it helps to hide them.

He talks to himself a lot, says it's the only way he can have a good conversation.

Izuku has had plenty of time to watch the man and make note of these things.

He is very dead after all. Not much else to do in that state.

Izuku was one of the unlucky ones.

The children who could hear the music.

They disappeared.

Whatever the man in the old house up on the hill is, it certainly isn't human.

Izuku doesn't remember what happened to him.

He doesn't remember where he was going.

Or how he ended up at the old house up on the hill.

He doesn't remember dying.

….he does remember the song, though.

That damned song.

He remembers every word.

He remembers every note.

It won't let him leave.

It is what is keeping him there.

In the house.

Up on top.

Of the hill.

Is it the old, horrible man's fault?

Did he make the song?

Or.

Did the song trap him too?

It doesn't really matter, does it?

There's an old house up on top of a hill.

There's a horrible old man with no face inside the house.

There's a song that only a few unlucky people can hear there, too.

I hope you can't hear it.
