what if the timeline made a modicum of sense? what if Ash had to deal with the consequences of dying so many times? what if every region and every adventure was marked by a growing sense of dread instead of pride? what if gods weren't as good as many want to believe?
Satoshi has learned his place in the plan of the gods, has learned how to serve them, now in the quiet of the forest after a night terror he snaps at one such god who forgets that they'd never understand the Broken One. The strain of power in his veins after making the gods ears ring force Satoshi to rely on his friend/crush to sooth him back to sleep.

Summary
Where on one cold winter night where Sonic and Shadow are cuddled up on a couch in front of a fireplace Sonic finds the courage to talk about something that haunts him every time he has to run through a flaming battle field.
The canon timeline makes me mad so I made my own with Sonic Underground and the og games as my starting point and a tenuous grasp at what happens after.
Sonic and Shadow are both ~35(genetically in Shadows case) during this talk and they've been together for ~9 or 10 years at this point so Shadow knows a lot of Sonic lore.

Damian al Ghul intends to make a wife out of the mysterious, french woman that fell from the sky. Marinette just wants to go home.
In an alternate dimension where Talia never shipped her son off to join his father, Damian al Ghul becomes the next Demon Head following his grandfather's passing. He rules as he's been taught since birth, disregarding the ominous prophecies about his fated-to-be uttered between the breaths of the League until a beautiful woman falls into his arms unannounced.
Meanwhile, a teleportation mishap while using Kaalki lands Marinette in an alternate dimension, one where she is apparently the soulmate of a man who could use some good social manners.
