Chapter Text
Watching the Doctor sweep around the warehouse, Yaz finds herself captivated by the sheer amount of energy the alien has. Every movement controlled but so chaotic, every facial expression more alive than most people Yaz has ever met.
Her gut clenches as the Doctor asks them to wish her luck, and Yaz wishes they'd had more time even as her new friend reaches for the lever...
Can't breathe can't breathe can't breathe
Panic screaming in her lungs, Yaz opens her eyes.
Blackness.
Points of light.
Stars. There are stars.
Can't breathe can't breathe...
Everything is beautiful.
Yaz tries again to breathe but there's nothing there.
She was just standing in that warehouse, waiting for the Doctor to leave. How can she be here?
With an effort, she looks around, and her throat knots when she sees three other figures dangling in the emptiness. The Doctor's hair drifts, catching the light of the nearby sun in a blaze of colour, and it's the most beautiful gold Yaz has ever seen.
It's been an interesting day, she thinks. Not a bad one to be the last ever. Be careful what you wish for.
She closes her eyes, and drifts.
