   Summary

   Once a year, Minas Tirith holds Arad Melith Nith, or the Day of Young Love. In addition to feasting and drinking and dancing, the highlights of the festival are the Whipping of the Maidens, where priests/priestesses run through the streets and whip any women--married and unmarried--within reach with herb bundles to promote fertility, and the Drawing of Names, where unwed maidens place their name into a jar and the bachelors draw at random. The couples spend the entirety of the festival together, and marriages often result from these unions.

   Your friend Eowyn drags you to Minas Tirith to attend the festival, and after much "persuasion," you begrudgingly add your name to the lottery. Will your union become a love story that will be sung in the mead halls of Rohan, or will you and the handsome Captain of the White Tower part ways after your night together?
