At first it was subtle: Leah didn’t let herself into Fatin’s house anymore or show up in her bedroom doorway unannounced. She started knocking on the house’s front door, or waiting in the car. And then eventually she didn’t come around at all without confirming via text first. The texts started off as “what are you doing today?” or “want to do something tonight?” And Fatin isn’t sure when, but the texts became “will you be in town for Thanksgiving?” or “how long will you be home for Christmas?”
