Chapter Text
Scar could take care of himself, yes. But of another human being? Arguably he wasn't a human being himself, but details details!
Anyways, the point is, why would Grian drag him along to pick up his nephew from the server portal?
He smiles at the memory of Grian crashing into his window, bright red wings flapping indignantly as he shoved the window open. That was a morning to remember for sure . Grian didn't need to know he had snapped a picture.
Grian pulls him back to the present with a gasp and a pull on his green sleeve. He stumbles as he follows Grian, leaning heavily on his cane. He smiles when Grian gives him a worried look, gesturing with his other hand towards the grand portal.
The portal is shining extra bright, the way it does when someone is crossing. It stops shining and a tall figure steps out, a backpack on his back and a racoon on his shoulder. Grian shouts in excitement and the figure snaps his head in their direction.
Scar grins as the sight as Grian propels himself at his nephew, nearly knocking them both over with the force of his hug. The boy shouts, his racoon jumping off him in alarm. Scar approaches slowly, smiling and waving in greeting.
Grian nephew looks at him with an expression that's a cross between exasperation, panic, and joy. Scar grins, Grian lets go and steps back, taking in the view of his nephew.
He has a streak of white in his otherwise blond hair, he's wearing an oversized blue sweater that has definitely seen better days and a cargo shorts that don't hide the many scrapes on his knees.
Scar can easily see the worry creep into Grian's face, he hands him a cookie, no chocolate chips. Grian stuffs it in his mouth and Scar offers one to Grian's nephew, who takes it and bites it carefully.
"Why hello there! I'm Scar, what's your name?" He says with a bright grin.
The boy looks at him, then at Grian, who now looks embarrassed, "I'm Tommy, Tommy Innit, my friends call me the Biggest Man Ever! Also did Grian not introduce me? Again? "
Grian groans, burying his face in his hands. Scar laughs, shaking his head. He sees the mischievous glint in Tommy's eyes and knows they're going to get along well.
They head to Scar's starter base, his tree happened to have a much nicer kitchen than Grian's base.
Sure Grian, that's such a coincidence .
Tommy gapes at all the builds, his racoon peering at them curiously. Scar opens the doors and Jellie jumps out at him, climbing his leg and settling on his shoulder dramatically. He laughs and they enter the tree.
As they eat breakfast, Grian talks rapidly about all the fun stuff they could do while Tommy is visiting. Scar focuses on Jellie and Clementine, as Tommy had introduced her, as they play with a stray ball of yarn. How or where they got it, Scar has no clue, but they're were so adorable! He giggles as Clementine dramatically throws herself down beside Jellie, who claims the ball, sitting with her nose high. Grian cuts off his rant about Tango's new decked out to smile at the two creatures.
Tommy smiles and takes an apple slice, reaching down to let Clementine grab it in her small hands. Grian resumes his chatter, and Scar keeps eating his cookies in relative peace.
Tommy kicks him under the table, he kicks back without thinking. Tommy blinks at him in surprise, Scar smiles apologetically.
"Sorry about that, got used to kicking back," he says, giving Grian a squint.
Grian grins, "I don't know what you're talking about!" He says, crossing his arms with a dramatic huff. Tommy laughs.
"So how long do you plan on staying here, Tommy?" Grian asks after the dishes have been washed and the three of them are sitting on top of the Entity, pets asleep in the sunlight. Tommy frowns, tugging on the hem of his sweater nervously.
"Forever?" Scar jokes with a grin.
Tommy looks at him with a light of hope in his eyes before looking away and shrugging, "Dunno, a few weeks? Maybe some months?" He says finally.
Grian puts a hand on his back, Tommy flinches then relaxes, "As long as you want, Thomas!" He says sincerely.
Scar nods, "Forever is a valid answer!"
Tommy laughs a bit at that, before looking at both of them cautiously. "You can't really mean that. Forever is an awful long time."
Scar shrugs, "Well I plan on forever, so."
Grian nods, throwing himself on his back, before jerking back up when his wings slam into the Entity, "Ow, but yes. There's no limit!"
Tommy smiles cautiously, "Then I guess you'll have to get used to me!" He jokes.
Scar smiles sincerely, "That sounds nice."
Tommy takes a room at the Scar's tree, both Grian and Scar pitching in to give him blankets and snacks for his room. Grian leaves only after Tommy falls asleep on the couch and Scar reassures him that the base is mob proof and that Tommy will be safe. Scar tucks Tommy in bed then heads off to his own bed, Jellie curling up beside him. He smiles, turns off the lights and falls asleep.
