Ace puts down Luffy’s water magic. Not because he thinks it's dangerous for others, but it was dangerous for Luffy himself.
He was a devil fruit user with water magic of all things he could’ve had. Ace wished he just had earth magic or fire magic, but water with a clumsy devil fruit user known as his little brother?
No... Even if Luffy could use it against other devil fruit users, he thinks it would be too risky.
His grimoire was also taken in by Makino, keeping it safe.
Ace couldn’t be happier when Luffy understood that it was for his own safety.
(Although in the inside, he’s glad he understood. Luffy’s water magic is devastating. He learned that the hard way when he was a kid, he might not have been good in handling his devil fruit at that time but the waters would forever bow to him.)
Garp thinks his grandson’s water magic was a blessing.
When they first found out he had water magic, he was near the docks. Angry at a certain pirate who was making fun of him, so little Luffy decided to soak him with sea water. (A/N: I believe we all know who this is XD)
He was a bit grumpy he wasn’t there to witness his grandson’s first usage of his abilities but to hear him do that to a pirate no less?
He’s been the talk of the village, last he heard. And he keeps talking about him as well.
Woopslap informed him that, for a kid, Luffy has marvelous control over his water magic.
However, that changed when he consumed his devil fruit. Seeing his grandson sad wasn’t in his to-do list or was it one of his wishes, he had always had a connection to the sea.
The only thing he can do is make things better.
I am not easily defeated
Luffy’s eyes narrowed at the chunk of grass Aokiji tore off the ground, a make-shift sword... However, ice is just water in a solid form. “Ice Saber.” The attack had a fancy name, how cute.
We’re claiming the light and achieving.
While Sanji and Zoro were throwing insults at each other again. The captain gathered a small amount of water vapors and charged forward with his fist coated in it, air still carries ‘sea breeze’ and sea=big body of water.
Try to talk down and keep calling us vain?
He lands a clean hit and the ice forms around his fist and not actually freezing him.
Don’t want to hear disrespect on my name!
Aokiji immediately grabbed his wrist while sending the other two flying.
“Luffy!”
“He’s got Luffy!”
Noble or not, I’m still on top.
Luffy didn’t even try to fight back, he was only glaring at the tall man; he got caught... Only ‘Royals’ and ‘Nobles’ can freely use their magic, most citizens must get a permission certificate, the marines are literally trained to use magic and pirates and ‘scum’ don’t deserve to use the wonder of magic.
Past mistakes won’t force me to stop!
But that’s such a shame.

“You... Are a water mage, are you not?” Audible gasp from his crew is what he heard; he doesn’t break eye contact. Sooner or later; he would’ve needed to reveal it to keep them safe.
Both Robin and Nami were speechless, the ice on Sanji’s leg and Zoro’s shoulder turned into water and floated about. Usopp was spooked because his captain can use magic? Chopper wanted to ask what this ‘watr mage magic’ thing is but it might be a big deal.
I’m the one who cut you down to your knees.
“Yeah? So what? I’m also a devil fruit user and we’re out on shore. You wouldn’t mind salt, right?”
Don’t misjudge my immense magic power.
“Your Grandfather hid your grimoire to keep not only others safe but you.” The admiral’s eyes narrow.
“He took away a part of me... But that didn’t stop me from training.” The water Aokiji froze turned back to liquid and was ready to crash into the land below it.
Half way through the fight, you’re the one to cower
“EEKK! LUFFY DON’T!” Nami and Usopp shrieked at the size of the wave, Robin stared at the admiral that was basically holding her captain captive.
Take a guess at the number of my past wins.
“You’d really sacrifice your crew to annihilate me?” He inquired.
Come on closer-
“You already said it, I’m a water mage. So why would the water that serves under me hurt my crew?!” Luffy’s voiced boomed with conquerors’ haki sending shivers down everyone's spine as they all fell to the ground. Their legs failing them.
I’LL SEND YOU IN A TAILSPIN!
“You have confidence in your abilities.” Aokiji remarked letting go of his wrist, turning his back from the young crew.
“But are you sure you can protect them without your grimoire?” Luffy raised his eye brow haughtily, this wasn’t like him but 1. this guy mentioned Gramps, 2. he reminded him that he can’t properly use his magic and 3. he was after Robin of all people!
The wave slowly sunk back to the ocean as the admiral’s retreating back became smaller.
“Neh, Chopper? Are Sanji and Zoro-…. Okay?” Robin had hugged him out of the blue, he can feel her shaking as she clung to him for dear life.
“That man is dangerous, captain. You shouldn’t have said those things.” Robin actually reprimanded him. Luffy smiled, ‘ She isn’t ready to tell the truth, yet.’
“ Luffy, you- you can use magic?! You have a grimoire?!”
“Are you actually a noble??”
“Are you kidding me, mosshead?!”
“You should’ve said something!” Nami shook him by his shoulders, Robin took a few steps back; guilty for what happened.
“I cou- ldn't- con- trol –it –at –first!”
“Oh.”
“ALL OF YOU STAY STLL AND LET ME CHECK ON YOU!” Chopper finally yelled.
“Alright, alright...” Zoro groaned; his shoulder was a bit stiff now but the ice was gone. Sanji was massaging his leg, a bit cramped if you asked him.
“But, it’s dangerous for you to use your magic, right?” Zoro wanted to clarify.
“Yeah, but if it's to protect you guys the-”
“No.” “No!”
Robin and Zoro answered at the same time, they didn’t even bother to look at each other for it.
“If it’s dangerous for you, please don’t keep using it.” Robin sighed; they couldn’t take chances. Anything but her captain’s life.
Chopper was busy treating Zoro and Sanji but he stopped mid-way to listen in, that’s right. The sea is a large body of water, but it’s also the sea. The sea hates devils.
“Well, I do have a magic tool for that.”
“Huh?” Usopp was the one to tilt his head.
A few minutes of Luffy running to Merry and searching through his stuff and returning to the group. By that time, Chopper had been done with checking on everyone. The captain held a long box in his hand and placed it in front of everyone. (They were sitting in a circle)
Luffy opened it while the box was facing everyone, it was like a wnd of sorts.
“It helps me with controlling it. Gramps bought me it for safety measures.”
Usopp had still left.
Robin had still left.
And Luffy makes sure they’ll get out of here alive. And he’ll apologize to both of them.
His grimoire had felt his urges and strong emotions.
It practically banged on the glass that was encasing it. It was framed in a glass container, on the wall of Partys; Makino panicked when the book just kept banging on the glass and gave up; freeing the grimoire from its captive and it teleported to its owner.
Now, with both his wand and grimoire in his hands.
Time to cut this annual ‘Aqua Laguna’ in half.
One of the first spells in his grimoire required him to learn mana zone, Luffy learned it as a kid and mastered it when Ace left since he had been keeping a close eye on him.
“ Mana Zone Full Release: Water Magic...”
“Three Sword Style: Three-Hundred Pound...”
Aqua Laguna only got closer, Luffy glanced at Zoro.
Ready?
Always.
“SEA TUNNEL!”
“PHOENIX!”
I’ve got courage and confidence on my side.
Robin’s lip quivered. All of this destruction, all those wounds, all of the fatigue...
Why? Why?
Here and now; the past won’t keep me tongue tied!
Everyone, everyone wanted her gone. They all wanted her dead, so why can’t they understand that it would too dangerous for them to have her? She wants to save them... Even if it meant death...

Luffy stared at Robin for one good second. “Then you shouldn’t have chosen me to be your captain. Don’t you know...?

Everyone was shaken to the core; it was taboo to speak that clan’s name... And for one of its members to shout an ounce of their information...
Go shoot your bullets at me. They’re negated.
“Sogeking, burn that wretched flag. Even if I’d rather have Usopp do it, it would boost his confidence.” The others gave a chuckle, if only he knew.
‘ Even when I’m gone, you’re still trying to think about me... For us and for Robin.’ “No problem.” He raises his kabuto. “This is my new weapon; Kabuto!” He pulled the ammo back.
“Special attack; Firebird star!”
That was the day the world Government learned to fear the D-bearers once more.
Water Magic, in your face, call it fated.
“Water Creation Magic: Water Bed.” Luffy hurriedly casted the spell and the grimoire skimmed through its pages. A large body of water caught them before lightly dropping them on the train.
“WE’RE GOING TO CRASH!!!”
“LUFFY CAST IT AGAIN!”
“WATER BED!!!”
Settling the score with Lucci hadn’t been easy. Yet, Luffy won. Without using his grimoire. Now, they were heading straight to the sea until Merry showed up with all her glory.
Don’t need a moment of pause
His grimoire opens as it turns the pages again, glowing as soon as the same spell was used. “Water Bed!!” The sea level rose for a bit and they landed on the deck of their ship, Merry. As if she was amazed by seeing a spell casted, she was happily riding along the waves created by the captain’s magic.
Nothing wasted.
They wanted to leave with Merry as their ship still, they really did. Luffy wanted Usopp to come back on this vessel.
Trust me, you won't take me down. I'm the greatest!
“Merry, you’re my nakama.” A tearful captain said as his grimoire flipped to a blank page, the ship’s figure head swayed a bit as if to nod.
Doesn't matter who you are, I won't phased.
“But, your captain’s not very bright. So please, will you reside in my grimoire?” He asked the question, finally lifting off the weight from his shoulders. The Klabautermann showed themself completely to the others.
My own crew or an enemy; I’ll still amaze.
“It’s a Klabautermann!”
“It’s to be expected, they’re mourning for their ship.”
“I haven’t seen one before.”
What are you waiting for?
Behind the Sogeking mask, Usopp’s eyes were wide; along with the rest of the crew. It all clicked in Nami’s head, Merry had a Klabautermann and a Klabautermann was a water spirit.
“Let’s go on more adventures, Merry! -” The Klabautermann’s clenched fists were shaking, could they really-
Our journey cannot wait!
“Let’s go and welcome Usopp back together!”
“ Yes, captain!” Merry jumped into the grimoire and a new spell was made just for her conjuring. Water Creation Magic: Klabautermann
Zoro chuckled as he saw a very visible Merry waving at them. Nami smiled widely, it made her cheeks hurt, Chopper waved back with tears running down his face. Sanji shook his head but there was an obvious grin.
I don’t blame you for being terrified of this mage.
Usopp couldn’t fathom it. This outcome.
They’re happy party had been interrupted when Luffy fell backward into the sea.
As the vessel burned, the Klabautermann was saved.
Their idiot captain just didn’t think about what it would cost him.
A great deal of mana.
