Chapter Text
Ajax really had to get some coffee. After spending the entire night working on the recent murder case, he really needed it. All those idiots in the office kept denying him access to go into field. He had to stay in and do paperwork. Paperwork. Imagine, THE Ajax. The one who figured out who the Sunside killer was and successfully arrested him. The Sunside killer who was remained uncaught for 25 years. Such a same Ajax couldn't be there for his prime. The way his murders were so enticing. The corpses being posed with such precision and care, no-one at the office could have understand. They all just labelled him as a maniac killer. Ajax could never forgive them. But he understood. The way it felt to be fascinated with something everyone deemed as wrong.
As he walked in through the doors into the local coffee shop, oblivious to his surroundings. As he finally reaches the counter and looks up, he feels like his heart stops. He has never felt this way about anyone. Is this what love feels like? He always heard about it in movies and from when he was in high school, listening into the mindless chatter of his friends. The man in front of him must be the most beautiful person on this world. His beautiful midnight hair and single pale eye. His other eye was covered by his hair and also an eyepatch. This peaked Ajax's interest. "Uhm sir can I please get your order?" That voice. So sweet and soothing. Ajax could listen to him all day and all night. "Uhm sir-?" Ajax finally snapped out of it. "Ah- yes sorry! I had a long night." he spouted out quickly, thinking of any reason for his spacing out and staring.
Ajax quickly says his order to the beautiful man. Ajax looked at his name tag 'Kaeya'. A gorgeous name for a gorgeous man. As he waited for his order, he watched as Kaeya worked. His movements were all so elegant and Ajax couldn't stand to be away from this man. Kaeya is just so perfect. When he heard his name being called from that sweet, gentle voice. He quickly went up to the counter and collected his drink. He went to leave the coffee shop. Disappointed, that he has to leave Kaeya behind. But duty calls, he made a mental note to start visiting daily. When he looked down at his drink he noticed something written on the napkin. His heart rate began to race. Could this be what he thinks it is? Did Kaeya give him his number? As his eyes looked down to the note and he began to read. ' Here's my number cutie~ Be sure to call -Kaeya. xxx-xxx-xxxx ' Ajax whipped out his phone and saved the number right away. Then he remembered he had to go back to work. He walked down to the office. When he got in, he quickly greeted the secretary and went to his desk. More paperwork. As usual. He zoned out as he started working through the paperwork. He couldn't focus on anything. All of his mind was on Kaeya. Kaeya was so beautiful. Kaeya was everything he needed in life. His favourite thought was the idea of introducing Kaeya to his family. Would Kaeya be good with Teucer? Does he enjoy taking care of kids? Maybe when they got married they could adopt a couple kids. Tonia would definitely enjoy braiding Kaeya's hair. Anthon and Kaeya could read books together. His older siblings would tease Ajax about when the wedding would be. His parents would be glad that he finally settled down. He finally snapped out of his thoughts and started working on his paperwork.
When he was finally done it was time to go back to his apartment. He walked home tired after hours of doing useless work. At his apartment he finally remembered to text Kaeya. He took out the note and placed it on his bed side table. Even his handwriting was beautiful. He traced his fingers over the pen strokes, imagining Kaeya writing it down. When he took out his phone he immediately went to message Kaeya. His mind suddenly went blank. What should he message him? 'hello'? No that's too casual. 'How are you?' No he can't do that. Ajax just texted Kaeya a quick ' hey beautiful how has ur day been?'. He was still tired from his work and decided to check his messages in the morning.
When he woke up and looked at his phone he could see the notifications from Kaeya.
Ajax: hey beautiful how has ur day been? ;)
Kaeya: hey handsome~, my day was great but it got better when i met you~
Ajax: my my , arent you a flirt?
Ajax couldn't take this anymore. He loved this man so much. He hoped he didn't flirt with anyone like this. His thoughts got interrupted by a message notifications.
Kaeya: I hope ill see you again today~
Ajax got flushed when he read this. They were meant to be. Kaeya was perfect for him. Now that he met Kaeya, he couldn't imagine a world without him. When he got another notification he immediately shot up. When he looked at his phone he realised it was just work and he was immediately disappointed. As he read through it, he realised he finally got approved to do fieldwork in this murder case. He hurried out of bed to get ready for work. He went into the shower and then ate breakfast. After breakfast he brushed his teeth and got dressed. He started to head out. It was so lonely in his apartment with out his family running around. Maybe when Kaeya-. No he can't think about that right now he'll get to see him soon. Maybe he could even plan out a date? When he walked by the coffee shop and saw Kaeya at the counter he immediately went inside. He ordered his drink and as he went to collect it he asked Kaeya if he had a minute. He nodded and sat down at a table with Ajax. "So what did you need me for, handsome~" Kaeya said with a wink. "Would you like to go on a date sometime? I know a good restaurant not too far from here" He watched as Kaeya flushed a lovely scarlet colour. "Sure, text me the details." Kaeya stuttered out. 'So cute' he thought as he saw Kaeya flush even more. "See you soon then beautiful." Ajax watched as Kaeya went back to his job and then he left.
Ajax was excited for the first time in a long time to go to work. He got to investigate the crime scene and see if there was anything those morons missed. When he got to his desk at his job, he started preparing for the scene. He told the team that he was finally ready to go. They told him that one of them still needed to finish their paperwork. Ajax waited patiently for them to finish. He knew that there were many rumours about him flying around in the office. The way he was excited to go to investigate crime scenes. The way his eyes lit up whenever he got to investigate a body. But Ajax didn't care what these people thought of him. All he needed in his life was his family and Kaeya. His mind drifted to Kaeya again while he waited for his co-worker to finish.
When they finally finished their work they set off to the crime scene. "Why are we even going here? Wasn't there already a proper investigation done?" One of his co-workers asked. Probably one of the newer recruits. Ajax was about to answer until one of his other co-workers hit them with her elbow. They looked like they realised something and began to awkwardly look away from Ajax. When they reached the crime scene, Ajax immediately began to look around. There was blood stains all over. Most of his other colleagues looked like they were about to faint. One of them even stepped out of the room. How dull. Becoming a detective when you couldn't even stand the site of blood. They were all truly pathetic. He started looking around in more detail. He remembered the paperwork on the body. There was a lot of stab wounds. The weapon was likely to be a 10 inch knife. The feeling of the knife sliding in and out of the flesh of the victim. He left the room to check something. When he went into the kitchen and checked the knife rack. And as he thought, there was a knife missing. How ironic. Killed with your own property.
He spends time looking around and noting down any significant details. After a couple hours he was finished for the first day. He went back to his job and organised his work, seeing if there are any connections between any of them and what he should spend more time on next time. When his work day was over he walked home. On the way checking if Kaeya was in the shop. He wasn't. When he was in his apartment, he got ready to go to bed. He checked his phone and was disappointed when he didn't get a text from Kaeya. Maybe he was just busy. Ajax didn't mind. Really. He would just message Kaeya in the morning if he didn't message him. This helped soothe him and he slowly drifted off to sleep.
