Watch Your Words

Summary:

Harry DiNozzo's morning started with a woman trying to break into his apartment, which meant he was already late to the meeting with the Director of NCIS. He was not having a very good day.

Watch Your Words

Tony was currently recounting the tale where one woman he was talking to had broken into his apartment. Apparently, the woman had interpreted him being nice and friendly, that he was in a relationship with her.

Kate had found it funny, wanting to know what happened afterward.

"She got arrested for breaking and entering and had a gun at her face."

"Maybe you shouldn’t date more than one woman at a time?" Kate shot back

"Wasn't my fault that she got the wrong impression and suffered the consequences of her own actions and I never told her that we were in a relationship," Tony crossed his arms, "Wasn't it you that stated that men and women could be friends without having sex?"

"That was before I met you, Tony," Kate sneered.

"Are you implying that you want to sleep with me?" Tony raised an eyebrow

"No, just that we're not friends."

"Exactly, we are coworkers," Tony said evenly

"So why aren't you working?" Gibbs asked as he entered the room with coffee in hand

Tony grinned, "just waiting for you, boss. My final report is already on your desk."

Gibbs nodded him before turning to Kate, "And where's yours?"

Tony hid a snicker as Kate tried to stammer an excuse.

"It's okay, Kate. I wouldn't be interested in you anyway, even if we weren't coworkers."

Tony turned to Gibbs, "has Harry shown up? He said something about a meeting with Director Morrow this morning."

"Yeah, we're joining them now." Gibbs gestured with his head for them to follow him.

Tony smiled, quickly following behind.

"Who's Harry?" Kate demanded. "Tony, who is Harry?" She hurried to catch up.

Tony proceeded to ignore her, keeping pace with Gibbs. He would let her find out the hard way.

Gibbs slowed slightly to let Tony take the lead, so that he was the first to reach the Director's office.

"They're waiting for you," Cynthia told him immediately without having to be asked.

"Thanks!" Tony beamed brightly at her before striding over to the office door and knocking twice

He opened it upon hearing, enter.

Harry was in discussion with the Director before turning towards them.

"Director," Tony greeted respectfully.

"Harry, I heard you were late this morning," Tony teased.

His husband scowled, "don't even get me started on that this morning. I had to wait for the Sheriff before I threatened to book her myself."

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Kate said in a snooty voice

Harry glared at her, "Tom, I'm sure that we will only need two agents in here."

"I'll have her work with Pacci's team on cold cases," Thomas Morrow sighed.

Harry nodded, "and didn't I hear something about finishing a report? That would make it late, wouldn't it?"

"Just who are you?" Kate repeated.

"Sorry about her Harry, she's new." Tony smiled apologetical at his husband.

"Kate, you heard the Director," Gibbs grunted.

Harry watched with a critical eye as she glared at him before leaving the room.

"May want to think about some refresher courses about need to know and Chain of Command, Tom," Harry replied.

"We got her fresh off the Secret Service," the director explained.

"You mean to tell me that she hasn't been through FLETC?" Harry was flabbergasted.

"Tom, even you know the procedures better than most. I could understand if she came from FBI. But Secret Services does not really do crime scenes, the most she probably has done is body guarding. I am assuming she hasn't been signing off on the evidence?" Harry asked, directing it at Gibbs and the Director.

Gibbs nodded, "DiNozzo... err... Tony has been signing off any evidence bagged and tagged before being logged."

Harry looked amused, "might be a bit confusing if you use last names, Gibbs."

"Well, that’s a relief." Harry sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "But I am being serious, she needs to go through the proper training. Even after the Probationary Period was up, she wouldn’t be able to progress to Junior Agent or a Field Agent."

"Harry, you are looking at around eight to fourteen weeks and you know about the priority case," Tom cut in.

Harry nodded, "I do. But that is a simple matter of looking at possible agents that may want to transfer. I already know one at Norfolk. He is a bit green and has yet to be promoted to a Field Agent, but he would probably thrive under Gibbs and Tony's close instruction. For this case, we could easily pull a member from another Major Case Team."

"I agree with you and not just because you're my husband." Tony sent him a wink before becoming serious. "I have been noticing some major problems with Agent Todd." He grimaced. "For one she believes that all males are against her. She is still a Probationary Agent and even I had to get the brunt of the not so fun assignments. She will complain and argue on why. She will believe it as hazing, Sir."

The director sighed and turned to Gibbs, "Do you feel the same?"

"You also had six years under your belt as a cop and detective," Harry reminded, though he was curious on what Gibbs had to say.

"Send her to FLETC, I'll borrow Balboa's agent," Gibbs frowned but agreed with everything that was said. He had experienced his own arguments against the former Secret Service agent.

Harry gave a firm nod, "now that is out of the way. Can we get back to why I am here in the first place?"

"Of course, my apologies," Director gestured for Harry to take the floor.

Harry snorted, "before I was rudely demanded to explain who I was. I met with Director Morrow this morning because of a matter of most importance. We received intelligence of a Colonel Ryan arriving back into the country. Previously, he was assigned to find the money from Saddam Hussein's back in Iraq. Well now, he has disappeared and gone MIA. The Marines that were with him were found dead. Until the FBI was so kind to forward me the evidence of him going through the airport in Washington. And given that he used a fake name, that is telling me that something is going on that we don't know about. I've already spoken with the Pentagon and SecNav. Whatever it is, they are not in the loop," Harry gave them a brief introduction what was going on.

"Maybe he's on the run from those that killed our Marines?" Gibbs suggested.

Harry nodded, "that was something that came to mind. But the cash had gone missing as well. Although, the FBI will probably believe differently. There was a slight dispute if NCIS at Headquarters would have this case or not," Harry replied.

"How much?" Tony asked.

"Two million," Harry said. "There could be more but that has not been confirmed."

"Well, damn." Tony whistled.

"They're Marines, it’s our case," Gibbs growled

Harry narrowed his eyes, "I am very aware of that fact, Agent Gibbs. But you have also served with the Colonel when you were in the Marines. If I had any say in this matter, another team would have this case. You are too close, and I don't want this to turn personal."

"Too late."

Tony took a step back when he saw the look on his husband's face.

Harry lips thinned, "Director, looks like my assumption was right. Then it is only a matter of reassigning it to another team. And the last thing I want to do is turn this over to the FBI."

"Balboa's team will be at your disposal." Tom sighed. "Before you argue, Gibbs, you need to find at least two more members for your team as we'll be sending Agent Todd to FLETC.”

"Also, I'm very aware of your rules that you have for your team, Gibbs..." Harry said calmly. "Or it is my imagination that you have one that says, do not get personal with a case?"

Harry turned to Tom, "I'll speak with some of Balboa's agents, but I definitely want Tony on this case. He has a sharp eye and has great instincts, which is not surprising giving his experience."

Tony resisted giving a sappy remark as he knew now was not the time for it.

"Fine," Gibbs grunted. "But I want full control over who will be put on my team."

"Gibbs, you've always had control of that," Tom rolled his eyes.

Harry had a smirk on his lips, the Director wasn't wrong about that. Most Directors weren’t as nice and let you choose who you wanted on your team.

"If I hear anything more, I will let you know. But for right now, I want to be there when Agent Gibbs speaks with Agent Todd as a mediator."

"And I will be safely down in Abby's lab to see if she has been able to track our guy," Tony commented.

"Coward," Harry teased.

"Guilty."

Harry shook his head as he excited the Director's office.

"I want to know anything that she finds, Tony," Harry reminded him.

"Of course!"

"And you can't tell Gibbs."

"I know, that."

Gibbs just stalked past them with a scowl. He didn't complain though because he knew that they were right.

"I wasn't finished, Gibbs," Harry called out. "After, then we can have a talk with your Probationary Agent."

"Let’s get it over with," he grumbled and waited for Harry to pass him. Tony meanwhile headed straight to elevator, he wanted to avoid the fireworks but maybe Abby would enable them to watch it from her lab.

"I'm going to be using your usual Conference Room," Harry replied with a grin. Taking the elevator once it had been enough time for Tony to get to the lab. He shut off the power.

“There is more that you aren’t telling, Gibbs,” Harry stated. “I won’t be keeping you totally out of the loop. But I also know that with personal cases, you will forget why you are working the case. If Colonel Ryan did something and committed a crime, I won’t be able to let that slide. But I need to know everything you know about Colonel Ryan that could help with this. And if the Colonel is in danger, I may be able to protect him.”

Harry was satisfied when he got off the elevator, heading towards the Bullpen, knowing that Gibbs would be right behind him. He had already known that Gibbs wanted to do this whole case himself, but it wouldn’t work that way. Which is why he had wanted to keep Gibbs off the case and not risk anything. Gibbs was an experienced agent and leader; he knew the costs and risks.

He watched as Gibbs went to his desk, the package from that morning was still there.

“You finished with that report yet, Kate?” Gibbs wanted to know.

She wordlessly turned it over into his hand.

“Want to tell me what is going on and who he is!?” Kate said, pointing to Harry.

Harry merely crossed his arms.

“Nope,” was his answer.

“And why not? I’m an agent just like Tony—”

“No, you aren’t,” Harry cut in.

“Excuse me?”

“You heard me the first time. Special Agent DiNozzo happens to a Senior Field Agent and your supervisor. While you only hold the rank of a Probationary Agent. Don’t think I didn’t hear the exchange between you two this morning. And I don’t really appreciate your attitude that you think it is okay for someone to laugh when they find out that their supervisor’s home was broken into. Which is part of the reason why you are being sent to FLETC to complete the training and seminars that you should have gotten beforehand. You obviously don’t respect the Chain of Command.”

“You can’t be serious…” Kate’s mouth dropped. “Gibbs…”

“This isn’t a negotiation, Agent Todd. This is also an order from the Director and the Deputy Assistant Director.”

"Which means you are to surrender your NCIS badge and your weapon," Harry reminded. “And I will be observing your progress to see if you have what it takes to be an NCIS agent and so far... my opinion of you isn't that high.”

“This isn’t fair, Gibbs!”

"Well... sweetheart... let me inform you that life isn't fair. And I will be ensuring that if you do come back. There will be some swift changes and that includes not arguing with your Team Leader for starters!"

"What right do you have to—"

"Kate!" Gibbs shouted. "You will stop arguing, right now."

Harry watched her snap her mouth shut. His eyes glanced to the side, where a security guard was waiting. Most likely Tom had already called for one to be sent up.

"You will be escorted from NCIS, and I will be forwarding you the information for when you are to report to FLETC. You will have progress updates on what you will have to improve on and after it is over. That is when I will tell you if you will still be an NCIS agent. But your progress isn't looking good, and you haven't even started," Harry smirked.

For once, the woman didn't argue. There was no doubt that she probably wanted to say something. Given by the glare, it would have been a scathing remark. Perhaps it had been a good idea for Tony to check in with Abby. She would have probably seen all of this as his fault why this was happening.

Once she was escorted from the Bullpen, Harry turned to Gibbs.

"Still think she was a good agent, Agent Gibbs?" Harry asked.

Gibbs didn’t have a response as the other elevator went back off. Tony was getting off, making his way to his desk.

“You were watching from the camera, weren’t you?” Harry laughed.

The mischievous look in his eyes was answer enough.

“Anything from Abby?” Harry asked.

Tony nodded, “I sent it all to your email,” he cast a nervous glance at Gibbs. Who seemed to be ignoring them.

The Team Leader was opening a package on his desk. It was a silver flask. He got up before handing his hand out.

Tony wordlessly handed him gloves, since Gibbs was now wearing a pair.

Harry read the words on the flask carefully, To Lieutenant Colonel W.D. Ryan.

It had Semper Fi written under it before having Gibbs’ name on it. He knew that the man had been a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marines. It looked like perhaps this had been a gift to the Colonel from Gibbs years ago.

That was before he read the note that was attached to it.

Millions are being smuggled out of Iraq. Being used for Covert Operations outside the Military and Government oversight. I’ll contact when I know more.

Harry sighed, “fine… you are in the loop about this, Gibbs. But if I find out that you held something back. Being off the team won’t be the only thing you have to worry about.”

Tony didn’t saw a word to that, and it seemed that his boss didn’t want to either.

"Get your gear," Harry ordered, they had a cabin to check out.

Gibbs’ directions happened to lead to them a log cabin. It wasn’t a place where Harry had even expected the Marine to go. Though he didn’t feel as surprised by the boat. He shared a look with Tony before holding a hand up.

The three agents behind him stopped.

There was a hole in the door, could have been made by a gun, it was hard to tell what kind or model though. He pulled out his weapon while pointing to the left side before the right side of the door. Signaling them to each side of the door. Tony was behind him as Gibbs’ and one of Balboa's agents was on the right side. He looked back before nodding.

Kicking the door in as he started to survey the inside of the cabin. You could see several bullet holes that had gone through the wooden walls. The entire placed looked trashed, someone was looking for something. That much was obvious. He pointed to himself and Tony towards one of the doors and for Gibbs and the other agent to do the other.

He quickly turned the knob before surveying the room, his weapon was still drawn.

“Clear!” Tony called out.

“This isn’t good…” Harry mumbled.

There was a body tied to the chair, he still looked alive.

“Blood isn’t clogged, this must have been done in the past few hours,” Tony murmured.

“Gibbs,” Harry called out.

He noticed the older man’s immediate presence.

“Tony, give your M.E. a call as a precaution, confer with Gibbs to make sure they know how to get here. He doesn’t look dead, but he will be more help on finding out what happened, after his injuries are looked at,” Harry ordered. I’m going to take a look around here to see if there is anything that will tell us where the Colonel might have gone to. Gibbs, see if there is anything in the main room that can tell us anything.”

Gibbs gave him a sharp nod before leaving the bedroom of the cabin. There, if you look closer at the flood boards, there was a small trail of blood.

“Harry,” he called out.

“What did you find?” he asked.

Harry looked to where Gibbs was pointing, “could be wounded… would make sense given the state of his door. But the question is who he is running from…”

“Yeah…” Gibbs muttered.

“Harry!” Tony called out.

Harry’s head jerked towards his husband’s voice.

“Do you hear something?”

Harry’s eyebrows ruffled before he noticed that Tony was right. He jerked his head back towards the bedroom.

Gibbs went first, heading into the direction of the beeping noise.

“Bomb!”

There was no hesitation as three of the agents started to run out of the cabin. He could hear the screaming of his husband’s voice.

Harry stayed where he stood before shaking his head. His head poked under the bed where he could see the bomb.

C4…

Harry took a deep breath in. He could see the rapid red light as blue, green, and red cords were wrapping around it. He dug his knife out of his pocket, he could hear the beeping of the timer get faster when he cut the first wire. Though he could hear the timer die once he cut the second. Slipping his wand out of his pocket, he did a quick scan for potential threats. He had crafted a few spells to help with his job. He just made sure nobody was around when he did that. He didn’t get a response when checking the bomb. Otherwise, a red light would have light emitted.

Harry let out a loud sigh and slowly slumped. He had disabled bombs before, but he didn’t like the fact that he had agents and his husband so close. They weren’t far away enough in his mind.

His feet slightly stumbled as he got back up. He cast another glance at the body, he slightly moved. Looks like he was still unconscious. His knife was still out as he cut the binds that bound him to the chair. There was a camcorder stand nearby but there was no camera. That meant someone would have the recording.

Harry had to lift the heavy man in his arms before carrying him out of the log cabin.

“Harry!” was a familiar shout.

Harry looked up to see his husband, his face was written in worry.

“I’m fine, I already disarmed the bomb. There could be the off chance I just disactivated the timer…”

“You touched the body.”

It was Gibbs, his voice was accusing.

“Given that he is still alive, Agent Gibbs. I can see if he was dead but even some protocol, you would try to save your body from being blown up and harder to identify. Something I can see your M.E. probably not minding as much opposed to someone who doesn’t know what they are doing,” Harry’s voice was low. He was not appreciating the accusation.

The older agent didn’t apologize, not that Harry figured he would. Tony had informed him of some of his rules. He knew that he saw being sorry was a sign of weakness. In same occasions, it might be. But his view definitely would differ from the Team Leader.

“He is going to need a hospital…” Harry murmured.

“Already on their way,” Tony grinned.

Harry shook his head with a smile, “glad to know you are always on top of things.”

That was when they saw a NCIS truck pull, no doubt it was Dr. Mallard and his assistant, Gerald. You could already hear their voices as the Doctor was ranting about his assistant getting them lost, again. Apparently, this was a natural occurrence since Gibbs and Tony didn’t seem surprised by this.

“What do we have here?” Dr. Mallard asked.

“He was tied in the bedroom; someone must have been interrogating him. He is still unconscious, but I’ll be happier when the ambulance arrives,” Harry explained.

“Well… his wounds don’t appear to be too serious. Nothing fatal at the very least. It seems that whatever answers he gave, his captor did not like them,” Ducky commented.

“And whoever shot up his place, probably thought he was dead…” Harry frowned. “Without that tape or his consciousness, its going to be really hard to find him.”

“Don’t forget about Ryan,” Tony reminded.

Harry nodded, “it’s possible he would know who shot up his cabin. Even tried to blow it up.”

It was around that time that the ambulance and EOD showed up. Harry let the medics lift their man onto the stretcher, he would have to check up on him later. He would need to speak to the doctor to let him know when he regained consciousness.

Harry spoke with EOD next, letting them know about the bomb that had been under the bed. He hoped to hear back from them soon, may lead them to whoever placed it.

Harry happened to be in the Bullpen, working with Tony when the FBI decided to make their little visit. He was going over the tapes with him from the airport. Abby had sent them to Tony, they had been going through the tapes for hours. They still couldn’t find the person he must have been talking to.

Last night, he had gone with Agent Gibbs to a bar in Georgetown. He knew that the man probably wanted to go alone but he wasn’t making idle threats to the agent when this case was started.

Colonel Ryan had immediately been on the defensive when he saw him. It took a bit before Gibbs could calm the Marine down. That was when he started getting some real answers. And it wasn’t two million that was recovered. It had been over thirty million dollars. Though he did confirm that they had the man in his cabin. Though he technically wasn’t in custody, he was at the hospital trying to recover from his injuries. At least it was confirmed that that the Colonel hadn’t created those wounds. It seems that the pursuer had done that work for them.

“It is a surprise that they didn’t kill him,” Harry noted. “Did you happen to get anything that may identify who is after you?”

That was when he gave the tape to Gibbs, but the Colonel was still refusing to go to NCIS with them.

“Colonel Ryan, I can understand that you are trying to protect your own life and still fulfill your mission. But this is out of your control, you will be going to NCIS, or I will arrest you and bring you there myself,” Harry frowned as his lips thinned.

He barely listened to the excuse of someone in NCIS being behind this.

“Then I can shoot them if they try and if you think that gun will threaten me, think again,” Harry retorted.

He was on his last nerves when the Colonel still argued with him that he wasn’t going. Even tried to get up but the wound on his leg was obviously affecting him.

“Turn around,” Harry ordered.

The Marine stayed where he was, he looked as if he was about to run.

“Trust me, you don’t want to run because I have no qualms about shooting you,” Harry replied, dryly.

He kept an eye on Gibbs, he looked disgruntled but didn’t say a word as he slapped the cuffs on the Marine.

Harry crossed his arms, "Tobias, what a pleasure it is to see you again."

"DiNozzo, part one," Tobias greeted him with a nod.

"What does that make me?" Tony whined.

"The guy in the backseat, hush Tony," Harry ordered. "You got some explaining to do and don't give me any of the typical bullshit."

"Just wanted to help out," Fornell shrugged.

"Cut the shit, you never want to help NCIS with anything. Why the tapes? You are wanting Colonel Ryan for another reason. And I doubt it's to help him," Harry snapped, though he still took the coffee.

"One of my men trailing him went missing. He never reported back in," Fornell finally admitted.

Harry nodded, "let's go."

Tobias raised an eyebrow.

"If you want a bloody answer. Come on," Harry growled.

"You're slipping, babe," Tony grinned.

"Don't even start," Harry narrowed his eyes.

"Sorry, love." Tony held up his hands defensively, he would be paying for that one later.

Tony followed quickly behind Harry, Fornell was at Harry's heels.

"Think your men can behave themselves, Tobias?" Harry raised an eyebrow.

The FBI agent huffed, "Gibbs can keep an eye on them. Where are we going anyways?"

Harry had a secretive smile as he put the car in reverse, "you'll see."

It didn't take long before he was pulling into the Bethesda Hospital. He didn't wait for Fornell before leaving the car and entering the hospital.

Harry showed his badge at the reception desk.

"I'm Harry DiNozzo from NCIS. I made an inquiry a few hours ago. I need to see his condition."

He watched the woman at the desk start typing on the computer. It took her a few minutes before she got what she was looking for.

"Just go down the hall. Dr. Reynolds should be expecting you."

Harry nodded before marching down the hall. He saw a man in a lab coat, just like the woman had said.

"Dr. Reynolds?" Harry asked upon approaching him.

"NCIS?" He asked.

Harry nodded, "how is he?"

"He needed some stitching but should recover fine. He woke for a few minutes; you'll have better luck speaking to him tomorrow."

Harry nodded, "I will still need to see him. This is his boss, Agent Fornell, FBI."

The doctor nodded, "follow me. Make sure you do not disturb him."

"Of course, Doctor."

They had to go up one floor before they came to a room. The three agents entered before the doctor left.

"That your agent, Tobias?" Harry asked.

The FBI agent looked grim, "that's him. His fiancé will be relieved, she had been frantic with worry. How did you find him?"

"I've got to keep some secrets." Harry smirked. "Otherwise, you would get bored."

"DiNozzo! Dammit! Will you give me a straight answer for once!" Fornell growled

"Sorry, but that is impossible," he raised his hand with his wedding band. "Legally, I'm gay. Plus, that depends on how sarcastic you want me to be, or I can just let Tony give you the answer," Harry smirked

"Harry, is really, really not straight." Tony smirked. "Especially not when he—"

"And that is enough out of you." Harry elbowed him gently. "You're already sleeping on the couch for a night, want to make that two?"

Fornell pinched his nose as he exhaled, "I am not hearing this..."

"Oh no, he's gone deaf!"

""Tony, babe, I love you, but can you please go wait in the car?" Harry sighed.

Tony grinned, "just trying to help."

"You are definitely not helping," Harry pointed out. "But there's no point hanging out. Can't talk to someone who isn't conscious."

"Could pull a Ducky," Tony suggested.

"Don't even start," Harry replied. "Or you can be the one reporting to the Director for me."

"I'll be good." Tony put on his best innocent look, not that it would fool his husband, but he would seriously behave now, at least for a little while.

Harry shook his head before muttering, "remind me to bring Gibbs next time..."

"I'll be good!" Tony was quick to reassure him. "I can't believe you would set the Bossman on me."

"I can't help it if I'm the favorite."

Harry didn't miss the way that Tobias' lips twitched at that. No doubt he had been privy to several occasions where his husband got a smack upside the head.

"Let's go," Harry ordered. "I don't trust Gibbs not to shoot your agents if they piss him off. And I still have a case to solve."

"He better not have," Fornell muttered darkly and hurried back the way they came.

Harry stopped by Abby's lab first before stopping to talk to Tom. He had met her on a few occasions. He didn't pay attention if Fornell had left or not. He knew that Gibbs probably already gave her the tape.

"Any luck on the tape?" Harry asked.

Her pig tails bounced as she walked.

"Yes. The tape had been badly damaged, and it took some time. I got a hit. It looked like he was talking to someone named Lieutenant Cameron."

Harry frowned; he had heard that name before but couldn’t recall where. Though he noticed a few times where the Colonel would be talking to himself. Like there was someone there with him. He wanted to eventually have him checked out at the hospital but first they needed to know who was behind all of this. But it seems like he was right about the injuries on Agent Carlson not being inflicted from the Colonel.

“Mike Granger, he was a Reserve Army Colonel, very convenient that he was in Iraq recently,” Harry muttered. “Appreciate the help, Abby.”

She grinned, “not often I get to help out the Deputy Assistant Director.”

Harry shook his head before laughing, “not in the mood for titles.”

“Not even to Tony?” She smirked.

Harry snickered, “how else would I get him to listen?”

His next stop was to see the Director before he went to grab the Reserve Army Colonel. He saw Cynthia before he got to the office.

“He is expecting you,” she told him.

Harry nodded and didn’t bother to knock.

“You found your Marine,” Tom stated, it was statement, not a question.

“Yes, Sir, though it seems there was more to the tale,” Harry replied.

Tom nodded and motioned him on.

“That two million was a decoy. He believes there is some type of plot we didn’t know about. The money vanished when he was kidnapped and everyone else had been killed. They took his bait. The Colonel figured out someone was trying to steal all of the money for their own gain. He said that he recovered over thirty million dollars. He thought there was some conspiracy, but it seems that only one person was behind this. Abby already analyzed the video, we got visual of his shooter, and they tried to blow up his cabin. What they didn’t expect for someone to be able to disarm the bomb and collect all the evidence. We got the tape and their location. We could be looking at some form of espionage.”

“Then go get him,” Tom ordered.

Harry nodded, “I’ll be taking one of your agents from Gibbs’ team.”

Tom gave him a nod of affirmation.

Harry used that moment to go back to the Bullpen, he almost considered asking Gibbs to go with him. But he was still too close to this case for his own liking. Even if it wasn’t arresting Colonel Ryan, he was sure that Gibbs wanted to say something. But he knew better than arguing with his superior.

He knew that Tony trusted Gibbs to have his six and that meant enough to him. Any other case, he would have asked the former Marine.

With that in his mind, he marched his way to Tony’s desk, who was currently drafting up a report of the case. It was part of his final report, it wouldn’t be complete until the case was wrapped up. But he knew that Tony liked to be on top of everything and so he complied everything together. It included what was found at the crime scenes, witness statements, if there were any, and comments during the investigation. He did that all the way till he wrapped it up with the sentencing if there was one.

Tony’s eyes were focused on his computer as he continued to type. He knew his husband pretended that he didn’t know how to type but not once did he pause to look at the keyboard.

He had to clear his throat to gain his husband’s attention.

“And here I hear that you don’t pull your slack around,” Harry teased.

Tony gave him a small glare.

“How about I save you from your paperwork that you can finish for later.”

Tony’s eyes lit up.

“Get your ass up and let’s go,” Harry aimed his head towards the elevator.

Tony didn’t say a word as his weapon was holstered to his hip and badge displayed, he had a grin on his face as he followed Harry down to the garage. He didn’t question him on where they were going. He did occasionally to Gibbs, but he had been able to read his boss for years. Kate hadn’t learned on when and where to ask questions.

Besides, he had seen the video footage from the tape off the camcorder. It was obvious on why he had wanted him to go. And he wasn’t about to pass down an opportunity like this.

Harry wound up driving to Fairfax.

“His name is Mike Granger, he’s the CEO here,” Harry explained as they slowly went up the stairs. He had already flashed his badge to the woman at the desk. He doubted she was paying attention to a word he said to her.

“Zyodex, Software Services, Inc, interesting name,” Tony remarked.

Harry’s weapon was by his hip, he didn’t remove it just yet.

“You can worry about the name later,” Harry replied as he moved up the stairs.

He moved past all the desks, finally drawing his weapon. The CEO’s office was in the center.

“Mike Granger, you are under arrest for attempted murder of Colonel Will Ryan and charges of espionage,” Harry said, his weaponed pointed at him.

Tony also had his sig out.

“Put your hands where I can see them and stand up slowly,” Harry ordered.

The man was obviously taken by surprise before doing what he was told.

“It wasn’t like the money was going to be used for anything else!” He ranted.

“It was your mistake thinking you could make that decision,” Harry whispered. “You are a disgrace to the uniform! Turn around and hands behind your back.”

Tony was the one that put the cuffs on Mike Granger as he read him his rights. He holstered his weapon as they walked him out. He would have to be interrogated later to find out what had been done with the money. Then the rest would be up to the courts.

And once he had a conversation with Tom Morrow, he would talk to the hospital to find out what was wrong with Colonel Ryan. He felt that Gibbs probably had an idea what that was, but he doubted that he would be up for sharing. That was fine by him, he could talk to the Director about that.

But he met with Gibbs as Tony was placing the finishing touches on his report.

“No hard feelings, I hope, Agent Gibbs,” Harry said, extending his hand.

“I appreciate the help, Sir,” Gibbs shook his hand.

“Any details on Colonel Ryan?” Harry asked, testing the waters a bit.

“Doctors say that he had schizophrenia and he is coming to terms with what he thought he saw.”

Harry nodded, “I am assuming the Lieutenant Cameron he mentioned on that tape is the person he saw.”

Gibbs nodded.

“What happened to him?” Harry asked.

“He died saving my life many years ago.”

Harry could tell that was a hard thing for him to admit, “I appreciate the honesty, Agent Gibbs. I hope that perhaps I can work with you again.”

He didn’t offer any condolences because he knew that wasn’t something that the former Marine would accept. There was guilt there, he knew that. And no words he would say would change that.

“Same here, Sir.”

Harry gave him a smile before approaching his husband’s desk. Touching his shoulder, he would ride back home with him that night before he had to be back at Norfolk the next day. The case had been closed.

He was looking forward to relaxing to his husband’s touch and letting him forget for a little while. It was tomorrow, that they would be looking for Kate’s temporarily replacement and to add the fourth member to their team. And Harry already had a potential team member for Gibbs’ team in mind.
