Chapter Text
Seungmin’s husband was very pretty.
That was an objective fact, Seungmin was a photographer, he could recognise beauty when he saw it and in his very professional opinion, Hyunjin was exceedingly gorgeous.
Of course, the unprofessional addition of sparkles and little hearts that adorned his image through Seungmin’s rose tinted vision did skew his opinion just a tiny bit. But hey, as his husband, Seungmin should get a pass to be absolutely whipped for Hyunjin.
After they had so called “officially” become husbands, the few months following had been more than enough time for Seungmin to tumble all the way down the hill of love into the garden of sweet smelling daffodils and tulips. In other words, Seungmin had evolved from his initial flustered, blubbering ball of awkwardness that he was when Hyunjin first showed up at his door with a ring to his final form of a hopelessly in love, doting and adoring husband.
Some (Jeongin) would call his transformation sickening but in Seungmin’s opinion there was no reason not to adore Hyunjin in everything he did and it was his dutiful obligation as a husband to dote on him.
And as a doting husband would, Seungmin thought that Hyunjin looked stunning in everything. Aetherian clothing, mundane clothing, he would probably be able to look good in a baggy jumpsuit. But Seungmin was a simple man, so his personal favourite was seeing Hyunjin in his clothes. It wasn’t anything fancy but Seungmin thought that coming home to his dearly beloved comfily swaddled in his clothes was a lovely sight. Not only was it downright adorable but there was a primal part of him that preened at how it affirmed Hyunjin as his .
Possessive? Maybe a little. But hey, forgive the man, he’s whipped remember?
Seungmin had been pretty certain that nothing else could give him the same butterflies as the sweet domestic picture, which is why nothing within conceivable thought was able to prepare him for what was in front of him right now.
It started as a normal day, Seungmin had just got back from work, went through the regular procedure of putting away his shoes, hanging his coat and other boring intricacies.
And as per regular procedure, Seungmin then went to find Hyunjin. Spotting him on the balcony, Seungmin was just about to announce his return when Hyunjin came into full view and the greeting died on his tongue along with every other thought in his brain.
Because Hyunjin, standing on the balcony watering his plants, with the last of the golden hour sun rays basking him in a gentle glow, was wearing a skirt.
It was a simple long skirt, one that came down to his ankles, of a beige off-whitish colour made of a light flowy material. Nothing fancy, but no less elegant. Hyunjin, sensing his presence, looked up and at that exact moment, a cool gust of evening air caressed past him, causing the material to billow delicately around his ankles and blowing a few strands of his dark hair into his face.
Seungmin genuinely felt like he might faint.
“You’re back,” Hyunjin smiled as he tucked the stray hairs back behind his ear.
“Huh? Oh- yes I’m home.” Seungmin managed to stutter out when Hyunjin’s voice snapped him out of his stupor, quickly coming to the embarrassing realisation that he had been openly gawking at his husband.
And as per their normal procedure, Hyunjin quickly padded over to give him peck on the lips, Seungmin’s hands moving with muscle memory to settle themselves at Hyunjin’s waist while Hyunjin’s cupped his face.
“Welcome home.” Hyunjin beamed at him lovingly.
“Hi,” Seungmin offered in response because his brain was really not keeping up with the program at the moment. His hands, in contrast, were busying themselves with feeling the soft material of the skirt.
“Where did you get this?”
“This? It’s mine, I brought it back from Aetherius when I last dropped by.”
“Oh. Did you wear a lot of these back in Aetherius?”
“Now and then, it's a rather common attire for forest spirits, but it seems like here mostly women wear them.” Hyunjin explained and he tugged at the loose fabric. “What do you think?”
“It’s very pretty.” Seungmin replied without a second thought, taking a step back to properly look at his beautiful husband, the compliment earning him a sweet smile and another soft kiss on his cheek before Hyunjin began leading him into the kitchen.
“Let’s go eat dinner, love.”
Seungmin quickly realised some issues with Hyunjin wearing a skirt. Or one issue more like. Which was that Seungmin for the life of him could not stop staring, quickly averting his eyes every time Hyunjin looked back at him and praying he wasn’t blushing too hard. Because on one hand, he really couldn’t help but look at his pretty love but on the other hand he couldn’t handle the embarrassment of gawking so blatantly and then having to look Hyunjin in the eye after.
“Is something wrong?” Hyunjin asked after a dinner of Seungmin playing a game of eye contact with his plate.
“Nothing’s wrong, why would you think that?” Seungmin replied as nonchalantly as possible as he stared at his phone homescreen, opening random apps.
“You haven’t been looking at me,” Hyunjin persisted, scooting closer where they’re seated on the couch. “Is it the skirt? Should I go change-“
“No!” Seungmin blurted out, a bit more loudly than he intended. Seungmin covered his face in embarrassment, feeling himself redden.
“It’s just that…”
Seungmin mumbled the last bit into his hands. Understandably, Hyunjin tilted his head in confusion.
“Sorry? I didn’t catch that-“
“You’re too pretty!” Seungmin finally admitted, cheeks burning. “I mean you’re always pretty but you look so pretty in a skirt I genuinely don’t know how to handle it.”
“Oh my silly husband,” Hyunjin laughed as he shooed Seungmin’s hands away so he could squish his cheeks. “Doesn’t that mean you should look at me more to get used to it?”
“I don’t want to creep you out with my staring.” Seungmin pouted back at him.
“You do realise I can already feel you staring at me when my back is turned right?” Hyunjin giggled as Seungmin weakly groaned, slapping his forehead with his hand.
“You can stare at me all you want, my love,” Hyunjin cooed, delightedly observing the various shades of red Seungmin was turning. “I’m happy you like it so much and I quite enjoy the attention.”
Seungmin sighed in defeat and nodded, knowing that he was never going to live this down because as sweet as his husband was, Hyunjin had a teasing side too.
“I have more by the way.” Hyunjin quipped as he nuzzled into the crook of Seungmin’s neck. “Skirts that is.”
And there it was.
“Oh!” Hyunjin pressed two fingers to Seungmin’s pulse point on his neck, grinning mischievously up at him. “Your heart started beating really fast.”
“It always does when it comes to you.” Seungmin sighed again, grabbing Hyunjin’s hand away from his neck to hold it hostage in his.
Hyunjin snuggled closer with a satisfied smile and interlaced their fingers.
“As it should.”
-
“Minnie! I have something to show you!”
“Hmm?” Seungmin hummed from his table, saving the picture he was editing. “What is it-”
Seungmin thought he had gotten accustomed to Hyunjin wearing skirts. And by accustomed he meant gotten over the embarrassment of staring to just openly admire his pretty husband shamelessly.
But nothing, nothing, could prepare him for this.
Because Hyunjin was wearing a skirt, but not one of his usual skirts. This one was baby blue, hugged his slender waist, pleated and only came down to his mid thigh.
“Humans wear skirts so much shorter than we do,” Hyunjin mused as he twirled around, causing the fabric to fan out around him, exposing two more inches of smooth skin before fluttering back down to settle against his thighs.
Seungmin proceeded to break down.
