Work Text:

Ichiro makes his way through the semi-crowded party towards the door to catch some fresh air, away from all the ruckus and noise.

He was at a house Christmas party that Hifumi decided to throw for everyone participating in the division battles to, and Ichiro quotes, cool off some steam and forget about their forced rivalry for a bit, end quote. Of course, Ichiro was no exception to this, unfortunately his brothers couldn't join the moment Hifumi mentioned he was serving alcoholic drinks, more specifically champagne, to Ichiro.

He reaches the open front door and breathes in the cool winter air, talking to everyone else inside was nice and all but, being with 15 other drunk men (who won't admit they're drunk) and a bunch of other random guests Hifumi invited wasn't exactly the best. Ichiro leans against the door frame with his arms crossed, looking up at the night sky with a faint smile on his face.

"Huh? Oh, Ichiro." A voice says from behind. He turns to look back and notices Kuko approaching the door. "Yo." Ichiro replies in a awkward tone. Kuko leans against the opposite door frame as well with his head down.

"Aren't you a Buddhist? Why're you even here." Ichiro asks, breaking the cold silence between them. "Jyushi thought it'd be fun so, I tagged along. Didn't know you'd be here though. I'm gonna leave soon anyway."

The taller teen laughed, "I can't tell if you're disappointed or pleased."

Kuko scoffs and turns to look at Ichiro with a grin, "More like surprised. Who wouldn't be after seeing their ex at some lame Christmas themed house party. 'Sides, you rarely go to shit like this."

"True." Ichiro replied with a sigh, "I wasn't planning to go anyways but, Jiro pushed me to go to..this. Can't believe he knows how to kick me out of the house now." He jokes with a smile, chuckling at his own remark.

"Sheesh, wonder where he got that from." Ichiro playfully hits Kuko's arm in response.

The two continued on conversing like old friends, as if nothing had happened between them. Cracking a few jokes here and there and simply catching up with one another.

Ichiro felt relieved that despite their rocky past, Kuko spoke to him normally nor did he try awkwardly avoiding him. It'd been so long since the two mutually agreed to break off their relationship and hadn't kept in contact since until recently (thanks to the whole division rap battles thing). This was their first "normal" conversation since.

The chat didn't last very long as Ichiro felt he should probably get back to everyone else inside before a certain drunk fashion designer started whining about where his oh-so-dearly-beloved Ichiro was.

He stands up straight and places his hands in his pockets, although before he got a chance to open his mouth, his eyes swept over the dangling object hanging between the both of them, the one thing he was trying to ignore the entire night; a mistletoe.

Knowing Hifumi, there was no doubt the host was going to hang a mistletoe somewhere around his residence, though the last thing Ichiro expected (and didn't know how he completely walked past that) was it hanging right by the door.

Ichiro stopped in his tracks and stared at the mistletoe in disbelief. Kuko looked at him with confusion and glanced up as well, his mouth forming an "O" shape upon realizing what it was.

The two looked back at each other, Ichiro in particular had a flushed face as he was never really good at things like these, "Uh..We don't have to..y'know. It's just some dumb plant thing anyway." he stumbles his words a few times, internally cursing himself out for sounding like an absolute dumbass.

Not planning to embarrass himself any further, Ichiro murmurs a few words of goodbye and turns around to leave Kuko alone.

Ichiro hadn't even gotten an inch away from the monk, he suddenly felt a strong pull at his arm, turning him back around. He was unable to react in time and the next thing he knew, Kuko had pulled him down by his shirt's collar as he moved closer to kiss him.

It didn't last very long, merely a small peck. Kuko lets go of his collar and looked away from him without a word, acting as if nothing just happened.

Ichiro, on the other hand, was as stiff as a rock, trying his best to comprehend the situation at hand.

Without even thinking, Ichiro pulled Kuko closer to him once again, their bodies touching each other as he leaned in for another, and this time longer, kiss. Kuko was taken aback for a second but, he eventually gave into the warmth, wrapping his arms around his neck while the latter was supporting his waist, the both of them indulging in each other like there was no tomorrow.

The two didn't know if they had simply missed each other or was touch-deprived for way too long (perhaps both?) but, whatever spark that died between them seemed to be flying all over again.

Ichiro pulls away first after a long while, letting go of the latter's waist. They both try to catch their breaths, faces flushed red and their lips slightly moist from each other's kiss. Kuko lets go off Ichiro's neck as well, slowly backing 2 steps away from him in an awkward manner.

Kuko and Ichiro stood in silence, not knowing what to say after their intimate exchange.

"..I'll head back inside." Ichiro says, which was the thing he was going to do before the mistletoe got in his way, although he wasn't mad about it.

"Yeah. Go ahead." Kuko nonchalantly replies, "I'll see you around..?"

Ichiro's mouth curves into a soft smile, "Sure."

------------------------------------------

Ramuda, who was closly watching the exchange happening at the front door with Samatoki and Jakurai, played with his champagne glass in his hands with a grin, "100 bucks and they'll get back together."

Samatoki clicks his tongue and lightly hits Ramuda's back, "Oi, don't bet on the kids." He says, taking a sip out of his glass.

"Oooowwww~!!! Toki!! Don't be so harsh on me!!" Ramuda whines in response.

Jakurai lets out a small laugh watching the two bicker and moves to stop the two a moment later, "That's enough, you two."

He then glances towards Ichiro's direction, who was currently chatting with another guest, and smiles.

"They'll be fine."
