Chapter Text
Being a ghost was lonely Izuku decided. He was currently sitting on the edge of a building near a cemetery where his funeral would be held. Izuku looked down to see some men in black setting up a small tent with chairs and flowers.
He absentmindedly wondered if Kaccha-Katsuki would show up. Izuku chuckled at that thought. Katsuki showing up to a funeral he caused? If he did though, he better be getting on his hands and knees begging for forgiveness at his gravestone. He wondered if things could have been different if he had a quirk.
He could have inherited his mother's quirk or his dad's quirk. Maybe a combination of the two that let him breathe fire and also control fire. That would've been cool. But no, he was thought to be quirkless but turns out he had a quirk that he had dubbed Ghost . Sure it wasn't his best work of naming but he wasn't in the mood to name a quirk that kept him from resting.
Izuku looked up to see the sun slowly be covered with clouds. A slow breeze blew, but he didn't shiver. He couldn't even feel the breeze the only evidence of its existence was the leaves on the rooftop being blown around. Izuku couldn't feel a lot of things as a ghost now. Couldn't feel the heat, cold, wind, water, anything. Well, he could feel certain things. Like the roof or the ground, plants, flowers.
People also couldn't see him. He had tried everything to get people to notice him, from screaming at the top of his lungs at them or running through them. The only reaction he got was making a person spooked because they heard a faint whisper or have a shiver go down their spine.
Sighing Izuku flopped over so he was laying back down on the roof, with a leg and arm dangling off each side. He wondered what his mother would be like. Ever since he had died, he couldn't bring himself to see his mother, scarred at seeing just how destroyed she would be.
Of course, before he killed himself, he tried going over the list of people who would care but the only person would be his mom. But compared to everyone else who would be happy about his death she couldn't compare. He felt bad, terrible even but he just couldn't handle the bullying anymore.
While waiting for the funeral to start, Izuku entertained himself by thinking of all the things he knew about his newfound ghost-ness. First of all, he discovered cats could see him. It was funny how Izuku found it out.
After walking the streets after his death, he heard the sound of a trash can falling over, Izuku immediately raced over to the source of the sound only to find a small black kitten chewing on a bone. The kitten immediately wiped its head around to stare at him. Izuku stared back before the little thing bounded over to him, seemingly in an attempt to find warmth from the cold weather.
Izuku had expected the thing to fall right through him but instead was able to touch him. Izukus ghost body was just him in his Aldera uniform but he was all faded and gas-like. But where the cat touched him solidified as if making a way to be held. After petting the kitten he had dubbed "Cone" he had the cat follow him to his elderly neighbor's house.
He knew the old woman loved cats, plus she never cared about his quirkless status, often inviting him over for tea and cookies just to talk. Petting the kitten one more time, fazed through the door, and slowly lead the woman to the door by whispering things right next to her. Sure all she heard was faint mumbling but it worked, and she found the kitten at the door.
After making sure she had cleaned and fed him correctly, he was on his way. The other thing he had discovered was that he could talk to people but only those he truly put everything into talking with them. Of course, it took a lot of work, but after yelling at his homeroom teacher for ignoring the bullying, even though he knew the man would never hear him it at least got some steam out of him that was until he immediately turned to stare at him.
However, Izuku quickly realized the man wasn't staring at him but instead just around him. "W-whos there what's going on?!" The man said freaking out. Well to test his theory, Izuku went on to yell profanities at the man for the next hour about how he should have helped him. The poor man was terrified the whole time not even able to complete the work at his desk.
Finally, the man ran out of the room after Izuku went through just to scare him that extra mile yelling about how "the quirkless was haunting him" Honestly it was hilarious to see him so scared.
Izuku was knocked out of his thoughts as he noticed that the funeral was starting. He slowly floated down and decided to stand in the very back. But he almost immediately had to turn away as he heard his mom's screams and sobs as she cried over his casket. But soon he decided to run over to her and start whispering things in her ear about how he was in a better place, and how she didn't need to worry.
Thankfully it must have calmed her down enough to have her go sit in her seat to silently cry even though she most likely didn't know who had said those things. As Izuku turned around to go sit next to her he locked eyes with one mother fucking god damned Bakugo Katsuki.
The boy was staring at him completely pale. But all Izuku could do was smirk at him and press a finger to his lips to symbolize the boy to be quiet. The funeral ended fairly quickly, Izuku was glad to find that Mitsuki was comforting his mom enough to keep her calm. At the end of the ceremony, everyone came to drop flowers in his casket.
It wasn't many people, it was only the three Bakugo's, his mom, and some of his neighbors, and his mom's friends from work. Izuku ended up crying as he saw his mom place all 12 of his hero notebooks in the casket, along with a green rose different from everyone else's red rose. Izuku cried as he saw his mother practically collapse into Mitsuki's arms, asking her to take her home.
But after wiping his tears he saw Bakugo come to drop a rose into the casket not even looking like he cared. He just walked off, but not after catching a glimpse of the scowl Izuku was giving the boy.
Thankfully the funeral ended fairly quickly with his mom, leaving a bowl of Katsudan by his new gravestone and leaving home with Mitsuki. Izuku caught that uncle Masaru would just drive Katsuki home to let the two women have their space. "Hey old man, go wait for me by the car I'll be there in a minute. The man looked worried but agreed and left Katsuki all alone with Izuku and his gravestone, everyone had already left.
"D-Deku how the fuck are you alive I saw you-you..." Izuku just stared at him. Not knowing what to say, he could see him? Why of all people did it have to be Katsuki that could see him? "I'm dead Katsuki there's nothing more to it."
Izuku wouldn't admit it but he took great satisfaction at watching the color drain from Katsuki's face when Izuku didn't call him Kacchan. "Do you regret it? Or will you ignore me and continue to curse me in death." Katsuki looked conflicted for a second before returning to his usual bitchy face. "You fucking Deku, so what yes I regret what I said and I'm sorry but-"
Izuku cut him off, "But what Katsuki, you can't even apologize to me when you know it was your fault? Are you just going to tell my ghost to fuck off?!" At least the blond boy could look ashamed of what he had done, but Izuku did want to see what he would say.
"Listen Deku I'm sorry okay, I know what I said was shitty and I'm sorry I am but I don't know what else you want me to do." Izuku thought for a moment. What did he want Katsuki to do, so he can atone for what he's done.
"I want you to go anger management therapy, stop bullying and start protecting others." "Anger management therapy what the fuck?! I'm not fucking weak!" There it is that's the classic Bakugo that cant admit to anything.
"Listen Deku, how about you fuck off and go to your little ghost world and leave me alone. I'm going to be the best fucking hero and you're not going to get in my way god damn it!" Izuku could only stand there as the now fuming Katsuki walked away. What did he expect from him? At least he got an apology out of him.
Finally, Izuku decided to walk away deciding it would be best, to leave the cemetery. As Izuku walked down the bustling streets of the city, he noticed a hero fight. Well, he couldn't get hurt anyway so it's not like there's anything to worry about.
The gun hero Snipe was fighting some villain who was robbing a store. Izuku watched as the hero carefully apprehended him without causing damage to the area or without hurting him more than necessary. I wonder what the world would be like if heroes did their job correctly and accurately. He even smiled a bit when Snipe ignored the paparazzi, instead choosing to see if the shop owner was okay.
After a bit, he decided it would be best to leave and maybe find some more cats to pet. At least there were some creatures out there that aren't assholes and can see him. He wondered why cats and Bakugo could see him. They didn't exactly have anything in common. Maybe there isn't any weird reason for it, he's probably just overthinking it.
The next couple of months passed by way too quickly. Izuku watched as his mom slowly healed from his death, but she always came every Tuesday and Sunday to bring food and stay near his grave. But he also watched as Bakugo completely forgot him and continued to be an asshole.
He even had to watch as the asshole got into UA with flying colors. Had to watch as he made friends that didn't deserve him. Had to watch him make fun of some boy named Hitoshi for his quirk. Had to watch him get kidnapped and Izuku couldn't handle it. Bakugo doesn't deserve this. Bakugo didn't deserve to be a hero, Izuku hated him so much that a terrible idea came to him.
Maybe there is a way to keep that blond-headed dick head from being a hero.
