Chapter 1: Vocal Line

Chapter Text

VOCAL LINE meets THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE

It was supposed to be nothing more than a quick costume check for the Vocal Line after the day’s rehearsal: head to the backstage costume wardrobe, try on the new faux-fur coats, let their stylists note down any needed adjustments, and then rejoin the rest of the group for dinner. The exercise should have taken no more than a handful of minutes, depending on how efficient the stylists were feeling that day.

Humming to himself as he pushed through rows of hanging costumes, Jungkook didn’t even notice at first that the wardrobe room was darker than usual. In fact, it wasn’t until the faux-fur beneath his fingers was replaced by something much more prickly that he actually began paying attention to his surroundings--and proceeded to halt in place.

V collided into his back. “Why’d y’stop?” he yelped, and peered over Jungkook’s shoulder to see the snowy winter wonderland that had replaced the wardrobe’s back wall.

“Should w’go back?” Jungkook asked, turning back to see Jimin and Jin crowding up behind V. Instead of the dark rows of costume racks, there were only more fir trees lined up behind them all. Apparently, there was no place to go back to.

“What th’fuck?” shouted Jin, the most prone to dramatic flipouts--unless the BTS boys don’t swear, in which case he shouted something completely different.

V leaped past Jungkook to frolick in the snow. Laughing, he threw a loosely-packed snowball at Jimin. With a gasp, Jimin shook the snow free from his shirt, inadvertently pulling it up to show his abs in the process.

“Jimin!” exclaimed V at the sight. “Lookin’ good.” And he did a peace sign with his fingers while continuing to admire Jimin’s abs.

Meanwhile, Jungkook had noticed a bright yellow light in the distance. He pushed aside some branches before asking the others, “Is that’a stage light?”

Everyone crowded forward. Sure enough, only a short distance from where the four of them had first entered this strange winter wonderland, there was a stage light in the middle of a clearing. It looked like most stage lights the boys had seen throughout their careers, only the metal stand appeared to have grown right out of the ground (Jin even brushed away the snow at its base to see that the metal descended like roots into the frozen dirt). And, even though there was no cord to be seen, the light was on and pointed out into the forest.

“Where d’you think it leads?” asked Jungkook. And of course, the others did not know.

But they could find out. After all, this was so much more exciting than a mere costume check.
