The sound of the shot swelled into the cold air.
At first, Takemichi felt nothing, only the slight pain of a punch, then a hot stream ran through his limbs from top to bottom. When he looked down, he saw the bullet hole in his stomach, from which the dark blood poured like a waterfall.
The world slid to the side as Takemichi fell to the ground. Then the sounds that had previously seemed to have been swallowed returned. He heard the screams of shock from so many different people.
The first to reach him was Chifuyu. He threw himself to the ground beside him and grabbed his hand with his trembling ones. His eyes were wide open in horror, already filled with tears.
“Takemichi! Takemichi, please hold on, now we'll call someone– ” His voice was gasping and broken.
Takemichi would have almost laughed at himself if he hadn't been on the verge of death. How stupid he had been. With his death, who would take care of saving the future? He had underestimated Kisaki.
Kisaki was still there, gun in hand, shocked by his own actions.
Next to Chifuyu there were now Angry and other faces that Takemichi was struggling to distinguish.
"What happened here?"
Takemichi knew that voice. It was from Mikey. The captain of the Toman appeared in his field of vision along with Draken. Finally they had arrived.
"Takemichi ..." Mikey, eyes wide and pale face, fell to his knees beside him. Takemichi looked at his friends, then focused his attention on Chifuyu. His partner. His best friend. The most important person in his life.
"I ... I'm sorry ..." Takemichi murmured. Blood came out of his mouth.
"Do not talk! Please, hold on, help is on the way!" Chifuyu pleaded, squeezing his hand tightly.
“Please– save the future for me. I... I failed. "
"Do not say that!" Chifuyu shouted. "You will live!"
Takemichi knew that help would never arrive in time. He was dying. He saw so many people die...now it was his turn.
"Chifuyu..." he murmured. "I'm so cold... my vision is darkening ..."
"No no! Please, you can't leave me, not you too...! " Chifuyu was screaming, sobbing. "You are my partner, my other half... If you are not there, I–" He cut himself off, crying.
“Mikey, Draken… Chifuyu,” Takemichi looked at them, a smile on his bloody lips and tears in his lashes. Mikey was crying with a blank, shocked face. Draken had tears in his eyes and an angry, pained frown between his eyebrows. "Thank you for everything. Chifuyu… If only I had re–realized sooner that I lo–love you…" A tear rolled down his cheek. “Farewell…”
And the world slipped into darkness.
Chifuyu's heartbreaking scream chilled the members of both Toman and Tenjiku.
