Work Text:
Ducks. They quack. They are mighty. They have not only three movies but they got a tv show that is binge worthy and Lauren Graham is hot. (Bobby really likes her, but don't tell Athena that).
But most importantly; ducks are living, walking nightmares.
"They're staring at me."
Eddie hummed in question and Buck pointed to a badling of ducks that were looking their way, "Seriously Buck?"
"Look at their beady little eyes."
"Babe, they're just ducks."
Buck didn't move and he gruffly said, "Flying murderous ducks."
"I think you're being a little over dramatic here." Eddie snapped his fingers in front of Buck's face and his boyfriend didn't even blink, "Huh, not gonna lie that was impressive."
Buck's left eye twitched, "I'm surprised they haven't already killed us."
"Buck." Eddie slowly ran a hand up Buck's back trying to get his boyfriend to look at him.
"Eddie."
Eddie sighed, he looked to the others for help but they just shrugged and watched in amusement at Buck's stare down with the ducks. He turned to Buck and half joked, "I don't think we've ever responded to a call about murderous ducks before."
Buck's right eye twitched this time, "That's because those calls fall under the coroner's jurisdiction."
"Oh my god, you're almost as bad as Chim and those damn crows!" Eddie threw his hands up.
"Hey, I heard that! Those crows are vicious!" Chim called out from across the parking lot.
Buck pointed a finger toward Chim as if to say that Chim's right. His vision didn't leave the ducks for a millisecond, "I don't trust them."
"Funny, that’s exactly what they said about you.” Eddie moved to stand in front of Buck but the younger man did some type of gymnastics move to bend and twist to keep his gaze on the ducks. Eddie's definitely marking down to try out later tonight… in bed… doors closed... you get it.
"Don't make me turn and glare at you."
"I think that the Doctor Who binge was a huge mistake." Eddie's fingers pressed against the bruises only he knows are hidden underneath Buck's uniform. Buck gave an involuntary shiver but he didn't look away.
Eddie clenched his jaw, he was expecting that to actually work and he's getting irritated the longer his boyfriend's attention is on those stupid ducks and not on him. It's childish and he knows so but that doesn't stop him from puffing out his chest and strutting over to the pond.
Buck darted forwards, his hand blindly reaching out, "Eddie don't!"
Eddie ignored him and across the yard the ducks gathered together in a tight formation. The one in front feathers puffed out in a mirrored movement of Eddie's chest.
There's a warmth beside Buck as his Captain came to his side, "What's Firefighter Diaz doing?"
"He's going into battle," Buck grabbed onto Bobby's sleeve to steady himself, and let out a cry, "Bobby, please, I'm too young to be a single dad!"
"You're not going to help him?" Bobby asked, trying not to wince as Buck's fingers dug into his flesh harder when Eddie got closer to the other side of the yard, "He's your boyfriend."
"Not when he's doing something stupid, that's Abuela's territory."
Bobby paused and hesitantly asked, "Are you… going to call her?"
Buck shook his head, "It would be pointless, Eddie's a lost cause now."
"Buck go and help Diaz." Bobby ordered and tried to pry away Buck's fingers.
"Uh huh, it's two against three, not happening."
"I'll let you two have an hour alone in the bunkers without any interruptions-" Bobby sentence was cut short by Buck sprinting off to rescue Eddie from the ducks.
"Eddie, I'm coming for you!"
