Chapter Text

Kyan Reki leans against the counter of Dope Sketch Café, hand lazily propping his head up as he awaits a customer to enter the shop. They’ve just opened up and the weather outside isn’t all that great. It’s rainy with a chance of the wet, mushy kind of snow— weather no one wants to get caught in. It’ll probably be a slow day and he’ll have to beg his manager to let him go home early.

Reki stifles a yawn and stretches his arms above his head before his attention is drawn to the door as it opens, the bell ringing to signal that someone has entered. “Good morning! Welcome to Dope Sketch, what can I get started for you toda-” He stops himself short once his eyes land on the person that has entered.

They’re a boy, Reki would bet they’re roughly the same age. He has sky blue hair and turquoise eyes. He’s tall and lean with fair, porcelain skin.

Oh my God, he’s so hot-

Reki’s cheeks heat up quickly, turning the same color as his hair. “I-I actually need to grab something from the back..please excuse me.”

The redhead scurries into the back room, his heart pounding. What the fuck is going on? But luck is somewhat on his side as his coworker, Joe, has just clocked in.

“Joe! I need you to ring up this customer, please! Reki is all but on his goddamn knees with his hands clasped in front of him. “I can explain later but just, please !”

Joe raises a brow at the younger man’s antics. Sure, he’s used to them by now but this time seems a bit..different, and he’s not quite sure why. But the buff man shrugs his shoulders anyway while he tugs on his apron. “Yeah, sure. I’ll ring them up but you’ll be on bar then.”

Reki nods quickly, despite the bar being his least favorite duty at the café , “That’s fine! Thank you, Joe.” Reki flashes him a bright smile and Joe can’t help the fond chuckle that leaves his lips. This kid was too much sometimes.

A moment passes before the taller walks out and apologizes to the customer and then proceeds to take his order. Reki musters up all the courage he has and forces himself to walk out of the back room.

The redhead washes his hands at the sink, trying to listen into the conversation with no luck. The guy talks so softly. Once he gets to the bar, there’s a single plastic cup waiting for him.

Ah, so an iced beverage. On this cold day?

Reki’s brows furrow as he picks up the cup and reads the drink written on it. An Iced London Fog Tea Latte with soy milk. Not a common request they get, a tiny bit tedious but not terribly so. As Reki goes about making the drink he sees more writing on the side of the cup. Oh, an additional request? He turns the cup as he pours in the soy milk, his eyes widening a bit and his cheeks flushing a shade of rose. It’s a name— it’s the boy’s name.

Langa

And it’s a pretty name at that! Damn Joe and his observational skills. They don’t ever take names and now he has to call out this customer’s name. A customer he thinks is so attractive and pretty and, ugh!

When he glances toward Joe, the fucker is already looking at him with a smug look on his face. Reki’s gaze quickly turns into a sharp glare as he picks up the cup. He takes a moment to collect his nerves before he calls out a shaky, “Iced London Fog for Langa.” Reki commends himself for keeping his voice steady and cool.

Reki sets the cup down on the counter and watches as the blue haired boy stands and makes his way toward him. When Langa reaches the counter he offers the redhead a small smile. “And it’s made with soy, right?”

Reki blanks for a second. His voice is soft and gentle and sweet and it makes his breath hitch in surprise. What the fuck.

“Uh..” Langa glances down toward Reki’s chest before his aqua eyes meet golden amber once more. “Reki?”

That brings Reki back to and he nods quickly. “Y-yeah! Sorry about that. Yeah, it is made with soy milk.”

That has Langa smiling more genuinely. “Cool. Thank you, Reki.” Langa picks up the cup before making his way back to his seat and getting back to work on whatever he was doing on his laptop.

Reki looks at him for a moment more before physically turning so he doesn’t have the temptation to keep staring. That’s when he sees Joe, who has a hand pressed against his mouth, body shaking with his silent laughing fit. The redhead’s face immediately flushes again.

Reki grabs the nearest towel and chucks it at Joe. “ Shut the hell up, it’s not funny! ” He hisses through gritted teeth.

What is going on with me? Reki thinks as he reaches up to gently grip the fabric of his shirt over his chest. My heart won’t stop racing..
