Work Text:

Seungmin wasn't having the best of days. A headache was haunting him since he woke up. Chan had been kind enough to give him a headache pill, as well as offering to drop Jeongin off at kindergarten, even though it was Seungmin's turn. He honestly wouldn't know what to do without Chan.

The worst of all is that that had not been all, no, of course not. The meeting with the magazine's website team had been delayed and taken longer than necessary. Staying focused with a headache had been martyrdom. Worst of all, he still had a meeting with the new models Han had found. He hoped they were as good as Jisung had made it sound because he wasn't in the mood to overdo it in the photo shoot. Hyunjin, the photographer designated for the shoot, was more than capable. Seungmin was familiar with his work for multiple reasons, including that they had been friends for over 12 years.

"You look terrible, Seungminnie," Chan said as he entered his office.

Seungmin mumbled a reply as he flipped through the interview submissions from next month's magazine. "My head still hurts."

Chan's face twisted into one of concern. "I can call the company doctor."

"I’m okay, don’t worry. Is that food?” He asked hopefully as he pointed to the bags that Chan brought with him.

The man chuckles while taking out the content. Seungmin's stomach growled, and this made the other laugh louder. "I love you, Chris," Seungmin murmured gratefully as he took out his food.

"I hope so because we've been married for 4 years," Chris recalled.

Seungmin hummed pleased. His jajangmyeon was delicious and tasted like home-cooked food. Maybe Chris's food wasn't professional cooking, but there was something really satisfying about eating food prepared at home by someone who appreciates you.

The two were eating in silence. The two usually ate lunch together so the rest of the employees wouldn't bother them with more work while they were on their break time. They were workaholics but when they finally succeeded in adopting Jeongin they both decided to be more careful about their health. It was not only about them but also about their son.

The tranquility was interrupted when Chan's cell phone vibrated. The content caused Chan to frown. "The babysitter says she can't take care of Jeongin today because her mom got sick. I hope her mom is okay."

"God, what are we going to do? I have the photo shoot in the afternoon, I trust Jinnie, but I have to supervise it and you have that sales planning thing with the managers and- "

"Hey, take it easy," Chan said kindly as he put a hand on Seungmin's man. “I'm sure Changbin doesn’t have a tight schedule. I heard him celebrate that he had nothing to do in the afternoon. Changbin loves Innie, I’m going to ask him if he can pick him up from the kindergarten."

Seungmin felt all the tension leave his body, again, he wouldn't know what to do without Chan. Meeting Chan had been one of the best things that had happened to him in his life. It was in his top 5 best things. The first place was definitely when they met Jeongin. The second when they were finally able to call them their son.

"Oh ok," Seungmin nodded calmly.

“See, everything is controlled. Stop frowning, you will get wrinkles,” Chan's hand caressed his husband's brow and then kissed his forehead. “Good luck in the photo shoot. I'm going to Binnie’s office. "

Seungmin returned the goodbye with a wave of his hand and a relaxed smile.

All the employees in the company mostly thought that Seungmin and Chan were the perfect example of a successful marriage. Seungmin wasn't sure about it, they sometimes had disagreements, but they always discussed problems to come up with a solution. Their priority was always Jeongin. He wasn't sure if that could be described as a perfect marriage, but he certainly was happy with it.

The problem, however, is that most thought their marriage was romantic. Yes, Chan and Seungmin love each other, but not in the way that many would expect. Their marriage had been… spontaneous. The two had met when Seungmin had joined the company to work. Their friendship had taken some time to build, but when the two were in tune it was as if each one had found their soulmate. Hyunjin had complained a lot.

Both Chan and Seungmin had a problem. They couldn’t find love. Chan had relationships every so often, but none survived the two months while Seungmin had simply been single for 5 years after his idiotic ex-boyfriend broke up with him. Another thing in common is that they both wanted children. So Seungmin, after a glass of wine, had said: why don't we get married? Being married is one of the requirements to adopt, also if I had to choose another parent, I think you would be the best option Channie-hyung. The rest is history.

The photo shoot ran until 3 pm so he had time to organize and schedule the interviews before going down to the set. Chris had texted him to tell him that Changbin and Jeongin were already on their way to the company, but they had been late because they were stopping by for a snack. Seungmin had a feeling that his son was coming back with a new toy. Changbin and Hyunjin were easy manipulated by the 6 years old kid.

Upon entering the set the staff began to greet him respectfully, Seungmin returned the greeting and headed in the direction of Hyunjin and Jisung who were talking in whispers. The black-haired man frowned when he saw Hyunjin visibly nervous. Hwang might be emotional, but when he was working, he was nothing but professional.

"Is something wrong?" Seungmin questioned when he was sure they would be able to hear him.

Hyunjin let out a little cry and turned to look at him nervously. “E-everything is fine! But I was thinking that you don't need to be here, I can lead the session and bring you the portfolio ready tomorrow morning. "

Kim blinked in puzzlement. "Hyunjin, I am the fashion editor."

Hwang bit his lip. "I know, but what I'm saying is ... This is Han's fault!" The photographer accused offended.

"Excuse me?" Jisung looked completely insulted. “The models that I brought are perfect for the theme we are dealing with. They meet all the characteristics you wanted, sir,” the latter was said to Seungmin as he tried to keep his composure.

Hyunjin looked like he wanted to dig a hole and sink into it. “Seungmin, look, I'm saying this as a friend, not as an employee. It's not a good idea for you to be here. "

Before he could question what the hell he was referring to, two people joined them on set. Seungmin's body tensed. Hyunjin was looking at him apprehensively. He finally understood what Hyunjin meant because the idiot ex-boyfriend who dumped him was in front of him, the same asshole who didn’t give him a reason even though Seungmin cried for one. How many years had they not seen each other? Eight years? Lee Minho was still incredibly handsome. His visual perfection was unreachable.

“Ah, editor, these are the new models. They are Lee Felix and Lee Minho,” Jisung animatedly introduced the newcomers.

Perhaps the number of years of dealing with undesirable people in this field had strengthened him because Seungmin was able to smile even despite the tumult of emotions that he was feeling inside him. “It is a pleasure to meet you. I'm Kim Seungmin, fashion director. "

Minho looked perfectly normal. Seungmin kinda hates him for it. His hands squeezed the iPad he was holding to make notes.

Minho opened his mouth and Seungmin prepared to hear his voice after so many years. "Seungm-"

"Papa!" Jeongin's cry brought Seungmin back to reality.

"Innie?" Seungmin blinked in the direction of his son who was sitting on the shoulders of a disheveled Changbin.

Changbin carried a happy meal on one arm and his son's backpack on the other. Jeongin brought a fox stuffed animal that Seungmin had never seen in his life which meant it was a brand new one. The sight of those two was enough to allow Seungmin to smile sincerely.

"This is the last time I do this favor to Chan-hyung or to you," Changbin complained dramatically. "The little beast kept saying that he wouldn't go to the office with me unless he saw his dad first."

"Jeongin," Seungmin scolded.

The boy pouted. Whoever had given his son that little angel face had made a fatal mistake. They had given him a very powerful weapon. Changbin deposited Jeongin on the floor so that he could finally hug Seungmin like he wanted to do from the beginning. Seungmin took a deep breath as he picked him up. "What are we feeding you with? You are so heavy!" He complained comically.

Jeongin gave a completely adorable laugh. "Love!"

"That's true, because your papa and I love you very much," Chan's voice surprised everyone. Chris just casually greeted them as he kissed Jeongin and then Seungmin on the forehead.

"We're at work," Seungmin complained.

Chan giggled amusedly. “I'm after my working hours, I stopped by Changbin's office and it was empty, I assumed they would be here. The meeting is over, I can go home, so I came to pick up this little fox to take him home. What do we say, Innie? " Chan took Jeongin from Seungmin's arms.

"Thanks, Uncle Binnie! Bye papa, bye Uncle Jinnie! I love you!” The boy said effusively who laughed softly when he felt the kiss on his forehead from Seungmin.

"Bye, Jeonginnie! I'll visit you to play,” Hyunjin gushed.

"Don't stay up late, Seungmin," Chan recalled as he waved his left-hand goodbye. The wedding ring visible on his left hand.

Seungmin raised his hand to say goodbye, a ring identical to Chan's on his hand. "Be careful." He watched them go, Changbin next to them to help him carry the boy's backpack. He really hoped it wouldn't take that long to join them.

"Your son is adorable," Felix said with a fond look.

Kim smiled awkwardly as he remembered they were still at work. He didn't really like mixing his personal and professional life, plus Lee Minho was still here. "Excuse that, it is not common for my son to be here. His babysitter couldn't take care of him today. "

Felix effusively denied as did Jisung, Minho simply blinked at his words. "I like children!" The one with the freckles smiled.

Seungmin nodded. "I see," Kim turned to see Hyunjin who finally seemed to have regained his professional persona. "You can start anytime, I'll be sitting over there," he said as he pointed to where the editing team was.

The photo shoot passed without any major inconvenience. Jisung was right, Felix and Minho were perfectly suited to what the magazine was targeting for the next month. It hurt to admit it, but if this worked they would be good as exclusive models.

Just when Seungmin had a happy and successful life Lee Minho had to show up to damage everything like he had done in the past.

Jisung dropped down next to Minho on the couch. "Wow, I think you and Felix have a chance of landing a long-term contract and not just something temporary."

Minho didn't bother to answer. His mind was still on the television.

"Hey, you should thank me for getting you this opportunity, hyung! As soon as I saw the profile, I thought of you two,” Jisung was pouting as he looked at his roommate.

"Why didn't you tell me that Kim Seungmin worked there?" Minho asked suddenly.

Han blinked in confusion. "I thought I told you? No need to worry! He is an excellent editor, plus he is very friendly. Although at first, I always had problems with his favorite photographer, but we are fine now. Mostly. "

Minho sighed irritably. "Jisung, he is ... he was ..." A sad and tired look adorned Minho's face. "He is my ex-boyfriend."

"Shit."
