That Time Sparky Lost His Kitchen Privileges

Summary:

The bakusquad just want to do something nice for Bakugou.

Notes:

Just a little something I thought up today. I'm glad it came out as a oneshot and not another multichapter fic.

Work Text:

It was no secret that Bakugou was a good cook. He was the best cook in class as far as all of 1-A was concerned. Everyone was desperate for a taste of his food. Midoriya would often reminisce of a time that his mom managed to convince Bakugou to cook with her. Sato desperately wanted to observe Bakugou cooking and learn from him, and the rest of the class just wanted to eat his delicious meals.

But alas, to the rest of the classes jealousy, Bakugou didn’t cook for anyone, except Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, and Ashido. He cooked them dinner every weekend and shared lunch with Kirishima every time they worked out together.

So, it was only natural that Bakugou’s friends wanted to return the favor.

“Hey are these eggs still good?” Ashido pulled said carton out of the fridge and held them up for the others to see.

Kirishima stepped closer to her squinting as he looked at the words written on the side of the box. “Sell by date says their expired.”

“that’s just when they need to sell it by.” Sero leaned against the counter and crossed his arms. “You don’t need to toss the food out as soon as it’s passed the sell by date. You’d just be wasting food doing that.” Ashido opened the carton and sniffed at the eggs.

“Then how do you tell—”

“The egg test!” Kaminari exclaimed.

Kirishima furrowed his brow. “The what?”

Kaminari grabbed the carton from Ashido’s hands and placed it on the counter. “The egg test. Bakugou told me about it.” He opened the cabinet and grabbed a glass. After filling it with water he placed the glass on the counter and grabbed an egg from the carton. The others watched over his shoulders as Kaminari dropped an egg into the glass.

“What does this do?” Sero peered down at the glass noting that the egg bounced to the bottom then floated back to the top.

“Simple.” Kaminari placed his hands on his hips. A smug smile was plastered across his face. “If they float, they’re still good. If they sink, they’re bad.”

Ashido smiled, “So these are still good!”

“That’s right.”

“Thanks Kaminari!” Kirishima beamed as he grabbed the eggs. “Let’s make Bakugou the best damn breakfast ever!” The others cheered at Kirishima’s enthusiasm and quickly got to work.

“What the hell are you assholes doing up so early?” Bakugou walked into the kitchen sipping at a water bottle and covered in sweat.

“Bakugou!” Kirishima beamed at the other boy. He grabbed Bakugou by the arm and dragged him out of the kitchen. He ignored Bakugou’s spluttering and grumbling as Kirishima forced Bakugou to sit at one of the tables in the common area.

Sero was already placing a plate in front of Bakugou who stopped his grumbling as soon as the steam hit his face.

“We present to you a traditional English breakfast!” Ashido stepped up next to Sero and held her hands out. Bakugou stared at the plate then back at his friends then back at the plate. His expression was blank.

“You four made me breakfast?”

Kaminari nodded. “Yep!”

Consider it a ‘thanks for everything’ Bakubro.” Kirishima reached across the table and slapped Bakugou on the shoulder. After a moment of silence, a pout formed on Bakugou’s face. They could tell he was getting warm in the cheeks but chose not to point that out. After another moment Bakugou decided to dig in. They held their breaths, bodies tense and they waited for Bakugou’s assessment.

After swallowing Bakugou sat back and crossed his arms. A smile tugged at his lips. “Not bad.” He ignored the collective sigh of relief. “But not perfect,” Bakugou frowned, “What’s with the weird after taste?”

The four groaned in exasperation as Bakugou dug into the eggs. Kaminari plopped down in the seat across from Bakugou with a sigh.

“I guess that’s not a terrible assessment.” When a thought suddenly hit him Kaminari sat up with a smile. “I even did your egg trick thing.”

Bakugou paused from eating. “Whaddaya mean?” He took a few more mouth fulls as Ashido interjected.

“The one where you check the egg in water. If it floats, it’s good and if it sinks, it’s bad!” As soon as Ashido spoke Bakugou spluttered and spit out the final bite of egg. The others watched him silently. When Bakugou looked up at them he was slightly pale, but his face was full of rage.

Kirishima swallowed. “Everything ok Katsuki?” The others gulped and decided to take a step back from the table. Kirishima was using his first name. He did that when he wanted to get on Bakugou’s good side. He only did that when Bakugou was really, really pissed.

“Did you just say,” Bakugou stood from his chair, “When it floats it’s good?”

“Yes?” Ashido tried to smile but she could feel sweat pooling at the back of her neck. They all jumped when Bakugou banged his hand on the table.

“It’s the opposite you—” Bakugou’s face seemed to go paler and he lurched forward. He covered his mouth with his hand and glared daggers at Kaminari who hid behind Sero. “I’m going to kill you for this.” Bakugou sprinted away. They could hear the bathroom door slamming against the wall and Mineta shrieking with the sound.

Kirishima let out a sigh and trudged over to the bathroom. He could already hear Bakugou’s painful retching. As Kirishima followed Bakugou inside Kaminari dejectedly walked towards the stairs.

“I’ll get Aizawa.”

After giving Kaminari the third degree, Aizawa escorted Bakugou to Recovery Girl’s office with Kirishima’s help. Even as he clutched a bucket to his chest and wabbled while he walked the glare, he threw in Kaminari’s direction still gave him shivers. When neither Aizawa or Kirishima came to class that day Kaminari knew he would be in for a world of hurt.

Three days later Kaminari had his ass handed to him by Bakugou in hero training and Kaminari was banned from the kitchen for life.

The End.
