Chapter Text

“get your fuckin’ foot off my leg.”

“shut up, idiot. get off my bed.”

you sit up, moving your phone to your side, and give bakugou a tired look. he just glances over with a scowl.

“it’s amazing how consistently unpleasant you are.” you roll your eyes, hands still propped up behind you. bakugou scoffs.

“trying to sound smart?”

“you’re a fucking prick.”

“whatever, jackass. when are you leaving?”

“soon, i hope. christ,” you sigh, rolling your head to stare at the ceiling, “do our parents actually think we like being around each other?”

“they’re fuckin’ clueless. of course they do.” bakugou moves up on his elbows, glaring up at you. “my mom thinks we’re best friends.” his voice gets mockingly sweet at the end, and you snort and drop your eyes back to his.

“we are definitely not friends. move your foot.”

“fuck off.”

“i’m getting up, you gremlin.”

he grumbles something, probably a curse, and jerks his ankle off your leg. you swing your body off his bed and stretch, hearing your shoulder crack before turning back to grab your phone.

“was that your bone? what the hell is wrong with your body.”

“do you have to complain about everything? i feel bad for your parents.” you narrow your eyes, standing back up.

“go ask your goddamn mom if you can leave already.” he drops back down onto his mattress, taking his phone into his hands.

“suck my dick, bakugou.” you sigh, leaving the room as fast as you can.

you rush down the staircase, making your way to the living room. your mom is sitting on one ivory couch, excitedly talking with your mama and bakugou’s dad. bakugou’s mom is setting down a cup, and turns her head to you.

“oh, honey, did you need something?” she says, voice kind, and you suppress a smile. mitsuki may be rough around the edges, but she’s a good woman at heart.

“um, mom, i remembered i still have some homework to do. i’m gonna go home, okay?”

your mom purses her lips, looking disapprovingly at you.

“you should really start doing your homework before we visit, kiddo. it’s rude to just leave katsuki like that.” she says, as if she’s reprimanding you.

‘katsuki’ fucking loves it when i go home early, you think, but you don’t say it, because they’ll just think you’re kidding. it seems strangely hard for your parents to grasp that you and bakugou don’t get along.

“oh, he’s okay with it.”

“it still seems rude, baby. every time we come over you go home early.” your mama juts in, giving a small frown. how clueless can your moms be?

“katsuki and i can just hang out tomorrow night.” you say, masking the grimace that comes with addressing that jerk by his first name.

wait.

shit.

bakugou is not going to want to hang out with you. not tomorrow, not ever. you two only tolerate each other when your parents force you together for dinners. spending time with him outside of that sounds like a nightmare.

“you know, that would be good, actually. katsuki doesn’t spend much time with friends.” masaru says, voice taking on a fatherly tone, and you feel pretty bad. you don’t consider bakugou a friend in any sense of the word. he’s an angry sweatball of a person, and if you just didn’t have to see him again that would be more than okay.

“oh, great! you could go to that restaurant you’ve been talking about, honey.” your mama turns to you, smiling, and you force a grin and nod.

“yeah, that’d be cool. i’ll text him about it later, but i still have homework, so. gotta go.” you laugh a bit, walking forward to hug mitsuki and kiss your mom’s cheeks.

you rush out of the house, shoes barely on, because if they called bakugou down to ask about tomorrow you’d probably get half your face burnt off.

why did your families have to live next to each other? why did your mom have to become friends with mitsuki? why did they make you and bakugou interact on a biweekly basis?

the door to your house shuts quietly, and you slip your sneakers off. you flick the dim hallway light on and walk up to your bedroom, tired as hell. thank god you don’t actually have any homework to finish, because you just want to sleep. you quickly brush your teeth and change into pajamas. you plug in your phone to charge and switch the lamp off, getting comfortable under your covers.

you’re about to fall asleep when your phone buzzes, over and over, and you grab it to check if someone’s calling you. the brightness is down all the way but you still squint, and groan when you see no one’s calling, but bakugou is messaging you rapidly. you open your phone and skim his messages.

Notes:

okay so! things to know:

- reader has two moms! they call one mom, one mama. their mom is a bit more sarcastic, and their mama is more sweet.
- reader does NOT attend UA. they just go to a regular high school. the reader does have a quirk but idk if i'll really mention it.
- this whole fic will take place outside of school and wont mention other characters that much
- reader calls bakugou by his family name when around just him, and 'katsuki' when around his parents
- this is a gender neutral reader! i dont describe the reader much, either
- i havent written for any bnha characters before so hopefully the characterization is okay?
- i doubt this fic will go beyond 10 chapters tbh
