Summary
June of 1995, the night of Estival Solstice (Midsummer), Voldemort's body resurrection ritual was successful. At the tail end of his duel with Harry Potter, the Priori Incantatem effect somehow spat out a boy who looked very similar to Harry. Though he failed in killing Harry, the link he required with the boy through the ritual allows him to possess Harry, and Voldemort had Barty Obliviate Harry of everything that has happened in the graveyard. None knows of Voldemort’s return, so the Order was not established again. The world carries on while Voldemort’s loose under the radar.
The world doesn't just sleep though. Harry's busy too.
