    Not many people could remain mysterious when Rachel wanted to pick them apart, but somehow Colleen Maxwell seemed to do so effortlessly, not even realizing she was doing it. That, Rachel had realized, was what was drawing her attention. Yeah, Colleen was cute (especially the freckles, oof), but for that alone Rachel would probably have forgotten her almost as soon as they met. Colleen, though, was an enigma, one so enigmatic that you didn’t even realize she was hiding things until well after the conversation had ended. Rachel couldn’t even tell if she was truly doing it on purpose or if she was just naturally self-effacing.

    Colleen was a mystery. Rachel had always been a sucker for a good mystery.
