The East Blue was a destination no one would have expected them to choose. It was also the only place they could go to in order to be safe. The flimsy piece of paper leading Wani flickered in their palm, tugging onward, forward. As if trying to confirm the choice was the right one.
Blue would help. Blue had to help. Wani had to trust the bonds they had forged together in their youth had not sundered throughout the years, even if Wani had not been able to be there for either Blue or Red when Roger died. Even if Whitebeard had denied them any help he could have offered, chained Wani in the brig to make sure they would not go seeking Blue or Red out.
Wani had to hope Blue would believe them they had at least tried.

He knew that because oh my god everyone is so slow and why can't they speed up and he's running normally but the world is in slow motion and his hair is silver and what the hell is happening to him. He also knew he was always too slow. He knew that because oh my god she jumped and she's gone and she's gone forever and he's his father and he can't tell him and he needs to tell him and he's gone and he can't. Peter Maximoff was determined not to be late this time. So he was running full speed to Poland where his dad was because holy shit he's actually gonna do it he's actually gonna tell him. And suddenly he's there but his dad's not there and the house is empty and something's wrong something's wrong something's wrong.
