It returned to him when he saw that little blue app with several notifications on his home screen.
Some people he’d randomly followed had followed him back for some reason. And as all good algorithms do, his feed started to push more content about Present Mic toward him.He didn’t have to do anything for the next few hours, so he began to scroll, learning more and more about fan culture.
He discovered the great, wonderful world of discourse, where people argue about the ethics of using real people as muses for fiction. And that’s when he saw a specific word mentioned repeatedly.
Erasermic.
It felt like a taunt, knowing he was braver in over a thousand different universes.He thought about it while he was at work.
He thought about it as he walked home.
He thought about it as he lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling to the sweet sound of nothing.That’s when he made the stupid decision to look, curiosity beating out restraint.

By the end of first year, exhaustion stopped feeling temporary and started feeling like background noise, and while teachers talked about growth and potential and future rankings, all he cared about was getting through the next day without anyone else ending up in a hospital bed or worse.
Desire, attraction, curiosity, all of it stayed locked away, because survival and responsibility left no space for anything else, and if he never let himself think about who he might want or who might want him back, then he never had to deal with how fragile that kind of hope could be in a world where people disappeared overnight.
So he focused on training and classwork and combat drills and strategy sessions and patrol simulations, because if he stayed busy enough and strong enough and angry enough, then maybe he could outrun everything else that tried to live under his skin.
And for most of that year, it worked.
But then, Kirishima happened.

He uses all the brightest colors in the box and draws people, animals, houses. Red and orange and yellow. His mind goes all fuzzy and then there’s blood scribbled all over the page. He doesn’t like it when that happens, but he likes everything else about drawing, so he keeps doing it.
He just makes sure to flip to a new page so that his cats don’t have to live next to all those screaming faces.

Tonight, Katsuki's gaze keeps coming back to Hitoshi and isn't that terrifying.
Hitoshi isn't playing anywhere even close to Katsuki's league and to think that Katsuki keeps singling him out, keeps looking at him like that makes something dangerous and hot and vaguely sick churn in his stomach.
Because Hitoshi isn't like Katsuki. Sure, he can appreciate his looks, can admit that he might be a little bit in love with him, too, but—it doesn't go beyond that because Hitoshi is just not wired that way.
And Katsuki very much is.

Hitoshi isn't stupid. He's perceptive and quick-witted—kind of a given thanks to his quirk—but he's also very socially aware. Kinda had to be with all the foster families in the past who had it out for him.
So he notices immediately when Bakugo starts to behave strangely in class.
It's not obvious enough to draw the attention of anyone but something about him is off in a way Hitoshi can't put his finger on and it worries him.
Bakugo has always been the steady, steadfast rock of this class, despite his angry exterior and to see him apparently struggling with something is unsettling.

Hitoshi nods once, letting him know that he heard him and he guesses it's to be expected. Hitoshi is a threat with his quirk and of course Yamada would be worried about that.
"I'm sorry," Hitoshi gets out, his voice shaky, and he wrings his hands in his lap. "I—if there's a way I can make it better, you have to tell me. Please," he tacks on, realising that his words might come off too much as an order and Yamada lets out a slow breath.

Summary
Hizashi tracks the lowering of Shinsou's head with some kind of amusement. It's more than apparent that the kid is absolutely exhausted—and not just the eyebags are hinting at that—and it takes him less than ten minutes to be completely asleep in Hizashi's lesson.
It's kind of a marvel, really; Hizashi's lessons are not all that quiet and for anyone to be able to sleep while he yells out English verbs is a feat in itself but also, Hizashi knows it's a huge sign of trust and he intends to be worthy of it.
