Jonathan furrows his brow. “With… Steve?”
“No,” Robin snaps. “With Nancy.”

Surprisingly, the fourth pancake turns out pretty well. It doesn’t stick to the pan, nor does it sink in the middle. It browns well, looks nice and fluffy.
Triumphantly, Nancy uses the pan to flip the pancake—

Both of them stare up at it, craning their necks.
“I don’t think it’s supposed to touch the ceiling,” Josie says.

Summary
Nancy always thought that she would be willing to do anything to do what was right, but then she met Robin. Then she lost Robin. She’s pretty sure, in hindsight, that she would do any amount of wrongs if it kept Robin safe. No clear conscience is worth this. Cold understanding washes over her as the facts click into place and she knows that Robin’s blood is on her hands. She killed her in every way that really counts.
