“I thought my actions would at least partly redeem my crimes, but that wasn’t enough for you, was it?” The arm slightly tightens around his throat. Peter wants to say something but all that comes out is more of a strangled gurgle. “I lose my dreams, my Rosie,” his voice breaks on the name, “and when I may finally rest, you take me to this place? And you mock me with this!?”
He shakes Peter around for emphasis, making him uncomfortably knock his head on the metal. A strangled sound escapes him, and he’s brought down face to face with the stranger. “Answer me. Answer me, Peter.”
“Look, man,” he gets out, exhaustion started to hit, “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know who that other guy was, and I’m really sorry about your dreams and your- uh- your wife. But I- I’ve never met you before.”
