“I do not wish to be absolved. I want to know why. Why do I feel this… this ache where my soul should be?”
Guillermo’s breath shakes as he exhales. The grate is thin, so thin that a determined man could crash through it and wrap hands around his neck, force the life out of him. “You feel guilt.”
“Why now? Why at all? Why— fuck-ing hell.” The last bit comes out as a pained gasp, and Guillermo can see the man’s head duck, his shoulders hunch. “Can we do this outside? It hurts in here.”

Summary
The first time it happens, after the initial incident, of course, it catches Jon off guard.
He’d been fine the whole day, helping Martin prepare meals and clean up around the house, rearranging their mantel to better accommodate some of their newest gatherings. Namely, a shiny golden thimble, a single pentagram earring, a pot of black paint now dried shut, and a single matryoshka doll — one of the middle ones, puzzlingly enough, with all the remainders missing. Martin had lamented over the family being separated.
Regardless, Jon had been feeling fine. There had been no reason to expect anything to go awry.

Summary
It shouldn’t have been surprising to learn that Martin hated him. He had been, he knew, a truly terrible boss - he’d treated Martin horribly, caused him to lose his home, nearly gotten him killed. Really, it had been ridiculous to ever think that Martin wouldn’t hate him.
Still, Jon had been trying, in his own way, to make it up to him. There wasn’t exactly a card at the drugstore that said, “I’m sorry I berated you for six months and caused you to nearly be eaten by a swarm of worms of potentially supernatural origin,” but he’d been trying. He brought Martin breakfast every morning, made sure the breakroom cabinets were stocked with his favorite blends of tea, and had tried to work some genuine praise into his feedback of Martin’s work. None of it was the direct apology that his conscience told him he really ought to give, but Martin had appreciated it. Or seemed to, anyway.
Jon wasn’t certain what motivated the decision he made next - whether it was guilt or spite or something else. He could, he knew, be quite petty when the situation called for it. Either way, he made up his mind then and there to prove Martin wrong. He was going to be the best fake boyfriend he could be.

Summary
I noticed a lot of my fellow fic writers were wanting to include details about language differences in their Avatar: the Last Airbender fics, but didn't really know how to do it. As someone who has studied languages for many years at the undergraduate and graduate level, and has worked with many students who were trying to learn English, I thought maybe I could put together a guide on how to respectfully show that these characters come from different linguistic backgrounds. I am not an expert on all of these languages; I merely have a bit of experience researching languages and putting together how they work. If anyone has any corrections, I am open to them.
Also, since it cannot be stated too many times, the aim is to be RESPECTFUL. Think carefully about what you are creating and how it might hurt someone.

Summary
Jon doesn’t approve of much about Martin: his report-writing, his Latin translations, even his very existence seems to irk Jon at times. Frankly, the feeling is mutual. Martin was perfectly happy working in the library, where his boss wasn’t an overbearing perfectionist arsehole, and if he’d been given a choice in the matter he’d still be shelving books and updating the filing systems, not getting glared at for his clothing choices.
