“George and Charles?!” Pierre exclaims, with no other context or explanation.
“What about them?” Yuki asks rather calmly, given the situation. But then again, it’s not like he’s affected by it in any way or form. That’s been reserved for just Alex and Pierre.
“They’re our George and Charles!” Alex adds to the conversation, and he can see the exact moment it all clicks in Yuki’s brain as his pinched features open right up into pure surprise.
“Nooo!” Yuki draws out, arms dropping in shock. “Really?”

“Hey!” Charles exclaims with a pout.
“I mean, who wears a jumper to play basketball?” Pierre chuckles against Charles’ lips.

Summary
“I’m Pierre, in case you didn’t know which of the twenty drivers I am,” Pierre offers with a wink, grinning wolfishly.
“My name is Charles,” he tells him with a wink of his own. Except it’s clumsy and ever-so-adorable, more of an overly exaggerated blink than a wink, and Pierre has no idea why it’s this one motion that sets his heart racing. That is until Charles bites his bottom lip and peers up at him through his lashes, and suddenly Pierre’s thoughts have gone south once again. “Will you leave if I tell you I am a Ferrari fan?”
“Ferrari?!” Pierre scoffs, raising an eyebrow when Charles shrugs with silent giggle. “No, I won’t leave, but I might need something to compensate for it.”
“I’m sure we’ll think of something,” Charles informs him innocently, even if the way his hand lingers on Pierre’s bicep when he gives it a gentle squeeze is anything but.
aka Pierre is an F1 driver and Charles is a student who has no interest in being an F1 WAG.

Summary
“I got a call early this morning from Mercedes," his manager tells him. "Lewis is retiring at the end of this season, and they want you to take the seat.”
The words take a few seconds to register with Pierre, but when they do, he’s not quite sure what to make of them. Out of everything he had been expecting, it had never been anything like this.
Shaking his head, Pierre stutters, “I- I can’t. I’m still contracted with Red Bull for another year, no?”
“They will buy it out. They really want you in this seat, Pierre.”
Pierre has never finished anywhere higher than seventh and has only one race win to his name. But now he’s being poised for a team that fights for podiums every race weekend and collects trophies like they’re going out of style. A team with expectations he hopes he can live up to without any bias in any way or form.
He shrugs with his response, an incredulous smile in place. “I mean, it’s a Mercedes seat. Who turns down a Mercedes seat?”

Summary
Charles only sees Pierre around the paddocks now, never in their motorhomes or outside the tracks, exploring the city they’re competing in that weekend. There are no more Thursday night dinners at the little restaurant they found when they were both in their rookie year in Formula 1, or gossip sessions before the driver’s parade where they catch up with whatever it is they have learnt that morning.
To say the distance between them hurts is an understatement, but seeing how upset Pierre is with the wall between them every time they do pass by each other with a short greeting and a nod of the head, a tight smile that looks casual but Charles knows is forced - because Charles knows every one of Pierre’s smiles - cuts him deep. He has never wanted to ever hurt anyone, especially not Pierre. Never Pierre.
aka Charles misses Pierre.

“I’m sorry, I can’t let you through,” the nurse tells him.
“No, you don’t understand. I have to see him,” Charles insists, keeping his voice low but firm.
“I understand, I do. But he’s resting, and I can’t let anyone but family through."
“I’m family, I swear I am,” he says hurriedly, pointing to himself and scrambling for the next best thing after legal family. “I am. I’m his- his partner, boyfriend, fiancé, whatever you want to call it.”

“Because I missed how much fun we used to have at the market and the fair,” Charles answers his question. “And our sleepovers.”
Pierre smiles softly at him, stretching out an arm to pat him on the chest. “You know you don’t need an invite for a sleepover, calamar. My bed is always open for you.”
