Summary
“Hold tight,” Tae instructs. “Tighter than that – Kyuu-chan, come on.” She lets go of the handlebars to wrap Kyuubei’s arms more securely around her middle. The end of Jugem Jugem’s tail whips against her neck as he burrows down inside his master’s collar. “Remember,” says Tae, revving the engine, “if anyone asks, Kyuu-chan – we’ve never heard of Gintama.”
“Never even once,” agrees Kyuubei, muffled by the helmet’s visor.
(Tae and Kyuubei take a nice, relaxing, non-suspicious holiday; and in the meantime, for almost certainly unrelated reasons, Shinpachi's life goes to hell.)

Bookmarker's Notes
just finished; already looking forward to a reread
characters were unabashedly themselves to a horrific degree
shinpachi’s segments (especially the ending) were genuinely difficult to swallow at times. even if you discount me being a biased shinpachi fan.
i know it’s been years but i am so grateful for the amount of works author has contributed to the kyuutae tag (and gintama in general)
they’re so tender and sweet and unsettlingly devoted to each other. inseparable…. -

Summary
Unidentified woman exiting Gintoki’s apartment at 5:36AM + Sarutobi Ayame hiding between the balcony of the Yorozuya and the sign for Otose’s Snack House + Tsukuyo = terrifying amounts of both drama and alcohol.

Summary
Katsura breathes in again. "But I never thought that you—you—would think the same. Hah! How ironic it is that when I have reconciled that we are just two different, yet similar approaches to a tried and true character archetype—each explored in thoughtful, personal directions—that you would step forward and expose yourself as thinking, oh, as thinking you are above me! Do you suppose yourself at a moral high ground, Kyuubei-dono? Do you?"
"Ah," says Gintoki idly. "You've done it now, Kyuubei-kun."
[Rather than attract it, sometimes like would like to repel like.]

Summary
“I’ve been practising all week,” Kyuubei assures her. “I can tell a ripe strawberry from an under-ripe one from an over-ripe one at fifty paces. No one can hope to stand against us, Tae-chan.”
“I almost hope they try, though,” says Tae wistfully. “A crushing victory is always so much more satisfying when you actually have to crush someone to achieve it, don’t you think?”
(It's rarely a wise idea to stand between Tae and what she wants. Right now, what she wants is fresh seasonal produce.)

Summary
“Once upon a time, only my stoicism was humorously inappropriate,” says Katsura. The Leader rolls over to sprawl upside down on her park bench and regards him blandly, littlest finger up her nose. “Do you remember that, Leader? Do you remember the days when only my deadly serious nature could provide a hearty chuckle or two?”
“Get over it, uh-huh,” advises Kagura, and flicks a dollop of snot onto the immaculate blue of his kimono.
Her advice is as wise as ever, but Katsura cannot bring himself to take it.
(There’s only so much shameless copyright infringement a samurai can take before he reaches his limit. Thanks to Kyuubei, Katsura has reached that limit.)
