Summary
That routine continued for a while longer. It took little more than murmured professions of infatuation or an offhanded remark (How do you think our wedding would look, David?) to have him muttering a complaint about how Brad needed to stop teasing him, before he untwined with Brad’s lips against his ear.
It ended when David started dating again.
Brad struggled with few things. He trained himself to be easily adaptable, did his best to excel at any possible task, to know everything about anything. But, despite having been as physically close as possible with the one person he knew who had enough experience with this thing that he was practically bursting at the seams with it, Brad could never quite understand what love was.

Brad knew about the rumours when he purchased the estate. He thought it was a good deal; buy it for a lowered price, spruce the place up, sell it off. But even after all the renovations, people were still talking about the “ghost of the manor” with a disturbingly serious level of alarm.
Idiots, truly. He didn’t believe it at all. Ghosts weren’t real. He’d expect these equally wealthy men to not be such pussies, but alas. Now, he was remote working from a mansion on a private island, finding himself strangely anxious as Fleetwood Mac played from a phonograph that he didn't quite remember turning on.
