He must have heard her soft footsteps coming towards him in the quiet of the night. She knew Haymitch well enough over the years to realize that the open palm was his way of telling her to get into bed – an unspoken invitation. Effie smiled slightly. As she walked into the bedroom, a part of her knew that she would always come whenever Haymitch beckoned.
