"A 10-year-old Steve fiddles with the bandages on his fingers as he waits for his name to be called on stage. His parents had signed him up for a competition, he didn't bother to remember the name of, but he knows it's supposed to be a big deal. Well, not to him, but a big deal to his parents. Which makes Steve want to laugh because his parents didn't even bother to show.
Steve taps his foot anxiously as he sits in one of the waiting chairs when a backstage assistance comes and tells him it'll be his turn in 15 minutes. Steve clutches onto his violin case and goes to wait on the sidelines of the stage. He can't help but take a peek at the audience."
(Post s4 but the last episode doesn't exist and Vecna is dead. Everyone lives: Canon-Divergent: Sort-of Canon-Complain: For context, assume that Eddie still got bit by bats, but they weren't as bad as in the show, and he powered through it like Steve did. Robin still got trapped in the vines, but Nancy helped her. Everyone goes to the Upside Down to kill Vecna there. Chapter 1 was originally written before vol 2 came out.)

Alternate ending season 3: Steve and Hopper have been captured by the Soviets, and Hopper is getting desperate. How the heck can he get Steve out of there, before their plight gets even worse? And if/when, Hopper fails, how can he possibly protect Steve from the inevitable horrors... let alone pick up the pieces in the aftermath?
Follows on from the first one-shot, continuing their story right through (can be read standalone, if you wish.) Once again, not slash or romance between these two. The focus is on platonic (or quasi father/son) bonding amid epic amounts of whump, angst and hurt/comfort.

Steve and Eddie have found themselves settling into their relationship. But nothing is that easy.
First, it's only nightmares, then in come the headaches and the nosebleeds. And maybe Steve's had too many masks. Maybe they're all breaking and he has to let others in.
But then a creepy wizard from the Upside Down enters the picture and Eddie's introduced to the horrors of the world. He's struggling to calm down but how can he when monsters are real and his friends have fought them multiple times? At least he's not the only new member of the Upside Down party.NOW COMPLETE!!!
