Summary
Gabriel Mayfield is a young shadowhunter newly transferred to the New York Institute who just wants to finish his training, except nobody has ever heard of him or any shadowhunters with the name Mayfield before and a certain head of the institute is concerned about where he's appeared from and what it means.
Basically, the story of a young shadowhunter with a mysterious past trying to live a normal shadowhunter life, navigating new friendships/relationships and maybe learning a little trust along the way. -

When Dave gets sent to A Shau Valley in Vietnam, he is reminded of the 'prophet' who tried to stop him enlisting by telling him he would die there. He tries to ignore the memories at first, but it becomes difficult after the man himself appears in front of him one night, seemingly with no idea that they had ever met before.
Or, their Vietnam (love) story, but in the alternate timeline where Dave has already met Klaus in Texas, and realises that maybe what the 'prophet' said was real.
