“We can’t end the games in any other way. A lot more of us would die if we got caught up in the fight with the Os.”
“I understand, but isn’t it counterproductive? You did come into the games to save people. Why are you letting people die now?”
Gi-hun paused, his jaw setting as he registered Young-il’s words. Involuntarily, Gi-hun stared him down, like he’d been trying to intimidate him. “We simply can’t have everything, Young-il-ssi. Don’t you know this by now?”
“Do you think not everyone is worth saving, then?”

After lights out, In-ho couldn’t help but reminisce about the last time he’d been here, precisely three years ago. The last time he’d been here, his wife had been all he was thinking about. And now, he wasn’t just thinking of her, but of the Frontman. Of Gi-hun. Of the failed rebellion.
He’d never forget it. Never forget him, with his honeyed voice and sickly sweet perfume, who was so impressed by how In-ho had won.
A guard came up to him and In-ho could barely flinch anymore. He didn't know what he could've done to deserve this.
“He wants to see you.”
This was his only chance, even though the fire in him had been long snuffed out.

Summary
Inho had entered the game to play alongside Gihun with no plan of what to do if he reached the end with him. He had been given multiple ideal opportunities to fake his death, yet stubbornly refused to return to his role as the Front Man, unable to shed himself of his growing need to stay near Gihun and ensure he survived.
On the eve of the final game, still under his Youngil persona, Inho is told the Front Man wants to see him.

Inho furrowed his brow, the image of Gihun inflicted with bloody wounds flashing across his vision again. He shook his head, whimpering in pain until he rid himself of the horrific sight. Then he grit his teeth and stared down at the mask again, yelling out in anger and taking control. He rode him even as he spilled inside him, his body nearly going limp, until Inho found his climax and released, pumping himself and staining the Front Man’s coat over and over.
“What have you done?” Inho growled. He winced as he lifted himself off the Front Man’s cock, stumbling away from the chair and yanking his briefs and slacks up again. When the Front Man tried to stand, Inho pinned him back down.
With one swift movement he grabbed the front of the mask and pulled it off.
His stomach lurched in horror. He was looking at his reflection; his own face.
Gihun was now standing right behind the chair, his gaze burning into Inho and undoing him, his presence like a terrifying angel.

Inho had wallowed in his own filth for a time after his wife’s death. But strangely enough, once he accepted the role within the games, the role as the Front Man, he began to clean and groom himself to almost an obsessive extent. He had always been a well kempt man, but now he layered on expensive skincare, hair gel and cologne, wore luxurious but personalityless clothing, and drank his whisky from a crystal glass.

Summary
The worst four years of Gihun’s life didn’t end the way either of them anticipated. Inho stopped the Games at the very last second, and now, back in Seoul with feet on dry land and no real place to call home, Gihun and Inho are left to figure out how to navigate a life neither of them expected to still be living.
Gihun has to keep living - for Gayeong, for all the friends and family he’s lost, for the ones who are still alive. This means finally talking to the people he’s been keeping at arms length, giving them the answers he’s been holding close to his chest. It means making decisions for himself and not just for revenge. It means raising a baby he never planned to have.
Inho has to keep living for Gihun.
But the Games are bigger than them both and far from over. A few bombs on an island aren’t enough to put an end to it all. Faced with some difficult decisions to make, Inho may already be in too deep to choose wisely and Gihun finds himself yet again at the centre of it all.

Gi-hun pulled away with a dissatisfied groan to look him in the eye. “You’re being difficult for no reason. It’s pissing me off.”
“You’re being a child!” In-ho exploded. He quickly darted his eyes to look around to make sure he didn’t wake anyone, not wishing to get caught in such a vulnerable state and die a horrible death with a hard-on.
Or, one where everything is pretty much the same but they’re inconvenienced by being soulmates. (Diverges after the end of season 2)

Gi-hun eyes the box, black with a pink bow on top, with suspicion. His fingers slide the ribbon off, his other hand removing the lid.
Inside is a black collar with silver hardware.
Leather, soft on the inside with deep blue stitching. Gi-hun’s eyes go from puzzlement to realization to surprise.
“We don’t have a dog! Are we-”
“Not for a dog.”
