Summary
Will thinks he’s dreaming. Mike decides to think it’s because of Will’s fever, when the idea of his best friend being convinced it’s more likely that he’s imagining it than for Mike to touch him makes Mike’s stomach drop uncomfortably.
“Sleep, Will. I’m here, I’ll always be here.”
Mike takes advantage of the half-unconscious state his best friend is in and lets his heart spill just a little, just enough for a few drops of what he feels for the boy in his arms to drop and land on his tongue.
“Love you.”
Will mutters, right into Mike’s chest, right over his heart - making it stop beating for a few long moments, when Mike’s world drops on its axis.

Will is sick and confesses to Mike while out of his mind due to the fever. Mike has a breakdown about it.

“And - and we’ll go to Scoops Ahoy and I’ll get you your favourite ice cream.”
This is all starting to suspiciously look very close to a date, but Will brushes it off - it wouldn’t be the first time he’s read too much into things.
Mike starts fidgeting with his hands, when no answer comes.
“You - you know, like a proper date? I know I’ve done something wrong, because you’re not speaking to me, but we haven’t been on one in ages, so. And then, I was hoping - maybe - if it goes well, I was - uh. I was going to ask if I can kiss you again. Properly, I mean. It’s fine if not though!”
Will doesn’t hear anything else Mike might say afterwards, because his brain short-cuts.

Summary
The paladin's lips come crashing into his before he can even react and he feels like he’s going to die. Mike Wheeler, or whoever this crazy accurate doppleganger was, had just kissed Will like he had done it a hundred times before.
He hears noises coming from his friends behind him, but not much because he’s too caught up in the fact that he doesn’t have enough strength to push the armored figure off of himself. The taller man pulls away with wide eyes, and they flicker all over Will’s face a few times, his eyebrows knitting together in confusion, “My love?” He asks quietly, one of his gloved hands coming up to brush hair from Will’s eyes. Will can’t stop the way his face flushes.
Will shakes his head a little as he stares up at Mike. The Mike that had just kissed him. His lips stung where they had been pressed against the others, “I’m— I’m sorry, I—“
The taller man shakes his head in disbelief, but he doesn’t pull away from Will nonetheless, “How peculiar, you’re definitely him, you’re just not him.” He continues to trace the contours of Will’s face and Will feels like his chest is going to implode.
