Summary
And the cycle begins again—meet, fight, lose, trip, wake up, leave, train, meet. Rinse and repeat. Feet kicking up dirt, bones cracking, blood spilling. Zanka giving everything he has, giving so much he wants to lay down and cry, and Jabber. Laughing. Laughing. Always too fast, always too tough, always too strong for Zanka to actually nail a meaningful blow on. No matter what tricks he and Assistaff pull out of the hat, it’s never enough.
It’s never enough.
Zanka can’t count the amount of scars Jabber’s given him. He doubts Jabber can say the same. Assistaff’s spikes move fast, and but not fast enough to seriously pin Jabber down. Like all that “knock me on my ass, Bad Attitude!” talk is just him bullshitting so that he can see the look on Zanka’s face when he refuses to just lay down and take it.

He gets worked up, is what Jabber’s saying. Gets caught up in the things he likes—in the things they are, even if Zanka’s still too scared to say it yet—and forgets everything else. Like the fact that there are times where Zanka “isn’t in the mood” and “doesn’t want to fight”, when he’s “tired” and “still not healed yet” and blah blah blah blah blah.
That’s when the sappy shit comes in. And Jabber—he doesn’t hate it. He just doesn’t like it.

Summary
Zanka’s not a real cheery guy. He doesn’t let himself be. The only time Jabber has ever seen him close to happy—seen him smiling and laughing without a care in the world—is when Mankira’s gotten involved. When there’s a nasty wound bleeding something fierce somewhere on his body, turning his clothes sticky red as he shakes and screams, froth dribbling from the corners of his twitching, grinning mouth.
Nobody laughs when Jabber sticks them with his toxins. That is, they never laugh this hard.
