Smiles are a funny thing. If an animal greets you by a show of its teeth, you'd best back up if you don't want to chance getting bit. For any animal besides humans, smiles are a warning to pick up your arse and take it elsewhere. Which is to say that MacTavish’s smile taps a nerve that should've been bred out of humans at some early fork of evolutionary divergence.
Ghost hasn't felt the sun since climbing out of Simon Riley's grave. When he finally finds it again, it's housed in the body of the sergeant he can't have.
Cold blooded creatures can't keep each other warm. But at least they can keep each other company.

Jek, this may have escaped your notice, but most people don't let me spend an hour telling them about the Gree Enclave,” Gree said, still frowning, and fed up with watching him through his bucket's HUD while Gree was bare faced, Jek yanked his own bucket off and set it on the sand by their feet.
“So what?”
“So the reason I treat you differently is because you actually sit still when I talk,” Gree said. “Did you not notice how rare that is?”
“You're a Commander,” Jek said.
“And still most troopers don't want a verbal essay on the mating songs of frogs, or a ranked explanation of proper incendiary blasting powder concentrations,” Gree said, something lurking in his tone that implied some level of suffering over that fact. It drew Jek up.
“I liked your ranking of incendiary blasting powder concentrations,” he said.
