Occtis is still holding his head up high, but now that they’re in better lighting, Julien realizes he looks a bit unsteady. Nonetheless, the boy's voice is steadfast. “I have some work I need to get done this evening. If you want to stay in this stupid room while that happens, I can’t stop you, but I expect you to be polite about it.”
Deciding the unsteadiness is only to be expected, Julien tries to muddle past it. “What kind of work?”
Occtis’s jaw goes tight. “I… have to start making some adjustments, or else I won’t ‘heal’ properly. Is that going to be a problem for you?”
Julien doesn’t know what he’s supposed to respond to that, so he defaults to setting some parameters. “There’s a sorry excuse for a curtain that you may use as a partition if you desire. I’ll take this bed; that side of the room is all yours to do as you see fit.”
Occtis just stares at him. “You’re… fine with this?”
Julien rolls his eyes. “Yes. I am extremely fucking fine with everything that is happening. Everything is extremely fucking great with me.” He flops down on the nearer of the two beds. “Do what you must.”
“Thank you for being so kind.”
Julien’s eye twitches.

“No one here is going to let you touch that boy, you have to realize that,” Vaelus said, leaning on the wall next to Julien.
He kept studying the night beyond the walls, on what horrors it might present to them all.
“Yourself included, I presume, Mistress Elf. But in this circumstance, my position is correct,” he said. “We need to err on the side of caution, not be so reckless. They’ll get themselves killed, enraptured by their own naive nobility.”

Vitriolic leaned over Kevin's shoulder to read the page. World 26, the title read, pestilence: recessed… yersinia: none… contagion: minimal;
“You know it calls you a bitch, right?” she said.
Collin deadpanned. “I’m aware.”
Kevin’s been getting calls, lots of them, about two strange entities appearing in players’ worlds. One or two reports would’ve been fine, but dozens pouring in every day? He's tired and just wants people to stop calling him about it. To track these things down and finally get back to business as usual, he’ll need help. That backup? Vitriolic, with guns blazing.

Maxwell sits outside the brig, clad just in his shirtsleeves and trousers, looking through the small barred window at Torse. Even in confinement, even in rage, he is magnificent to behold, all broad iron plates and pointed spines, the red glow of his iron heart casting each joint in sharp relief. Beautiful. Maxwell would never say that out loud, but he was, at this point, brave enough to think it to himself. Even the events of yesterday, that had led to Torse's newfound sleeping chambers being the brig, would not change his mind. Knuckle knives, fully bared, flying towards his face. Torse's glowing red gaze directed full force at him, battle-fire enraging him. Max had ducked, and dodged, and his heart had leapt into his throat. Torse's knuckle knives had sunk into the deck of the Zephyr instead of Maxwell's skull, leaving a hole six inches deep in the hard wood.
A beat of silence had hung in the air. Two. Three. Maxwell's pulse raced, the heat of battle and the chill of fear warring within his chest. Were it not for his reflexes, Torse - with his iron heart and his glowing red gaze - would have killed Maxwell where he stood.
