When Clint showed up at the Barnes and Rogers household to ask Bucky on a date, it wasn’t his fault that Steve answered the door instead. It also wasn’t his fault that he got flustered and said some things that were not entirely accurate. It definitely wasn’t his fault that he didn’t argue when Steve misunderstood his words and hired him to be their lawn care guy.
…okay, so maybe he's a little bit to blame.

The guy pictured was in profile, most of his back to the viewer, and he was braced with a bow in his hands, the bowstring pulled back to his far ear. The sleeveless shirt he was wearing was an eye-searing purple, and the musculature it revealed was enough to catch the eye, but it was the red words that curled along his forearm that had caused all the outrage. It was absurd that they’d have been nothing special if only they’d been black and already matched.
World’s Greatest Marksman, huh? they said, and underneath in white the poster blared YOU DECIDE, with a list of dates that were all sold out.

“Oh no, we’re not doing this.” Chimney pops a bubble with the gum he’s been chewing as he moves one of his fingers back and forth to point between The-Man-who-isn’t-Buck’s-man-he’s-just-The-Man and Buck. “You didn’t drag me to the gym just so you can ditch me to fuck some guy in the showers."
Buck lowers his voice, leaning forward as if trying to make the words’s journey shorter between him and Chimney so they can’t escape and reach anyone else’s ears,“I wouldn’t fuck him in the showers.”
Chimney’s response is wordless in the form of an eyebrow raise.
“Not anymore, okay?” Buck clarifies, rolling his eyes. “That’s not who I am now."
(spoiler alert: Buck does fuck the guy in the showers. but that comes after nicknaming him Big Beautiful Brown Eyes, finding out his name is actually Eddie, becoming his best friend, and falling madly in love with him.)
