Javert looked down at himself, at the uniform he had worn for many years now. He nodded wearily, and unbuttoned his greatcoat.
Valjean made no move to go. He was still watching Javert intently.
"And the rest," said Valjean, in the firm, commanding voice of Madeleine.

After Valjean foils Javert’s plan to throw himself into the Seine, Javert lashes out at him, angry and miserable. But Valjean soon discovers a way to quiet him.

Summary
Javert plunges into the woods near Montfermeil in pursuit of Jean Valjean, but when he is led astray into the dark heart of the forest, he meets with strange forces and comes out changed. Transformed into a wolf-dog, he stalks the outskirts of Paris, waiting to catch the scent of the man he’s hunted.
Can be read as a T-rated fic without the epilogue (only the epilogue is E-rated).

“There. See how you want it.” Javert sounded almost smug with satisfaction at being proven right, and Valjean could not protest anymore because it was true. Instinct had taken hold of him, so that he, a lion in his fourth decade, now found himself hard and eager, his body greedy for what even now the heat in his blood whispered to him was perfectly natural, was his right, as though he was still a young cub in that first season of adulthood.
